Thank you for this remembrance of a fine actor. When I was unemployed during 2008-2009, reruns of “The Streets of San Francisco” kept me sane.

One of my favorite Non leading actors and when he acted next to the lead big box actors he was always better in the scenes :)

Karl Mladenovic, known by his stage name Karl Malden ( he changed his surname, I guess Malden sounds better to an American audience than Mladenovic, a typical South Slavic surname), was a great thespian and character actor.

One correction, Malden died aged 97 - also his adopted surname is an anagram form of his father's given name

A great actor, and a really nice man -- I know that a movie with him in it is going to be good

Ahhh yes, Karl Malden, such a great actor. Just this past weekend Streets of Francisco was on Decades so naturally I had to watch over the weekend. Karl was so believable in his role of Mike Stone and although there was a huge age difference between his costar Michael Douglass they made a great team.
