Thank you so much for this helpful & clear guide!! I never would have thought about including a late fee, but that makes total sense. I've only done a handful of sponsorships, but I've typically gotten paid within 2 weeks. But I also tend to work with really small brands, so I imagine there's less chain of command to go through.
wow, congrats on getting paid quickly so far! 🎉 I hope that keeps up for you throughout your journey. And you're totally right with the small brand call out-there are often fewer hurdles to jump through with a smaller brand and sometimes it can be the bigger brands that take a while! So glad you enjoyed this video and thank you for watching 💕
Hi! I can't believe I'm already at this part where a company reached out to me to have a collab! So surreal ✨ with that I realized I have no idea what to do hahaha this video is helpful. Thank you! I didn't know that it takes 30 days to get paid, a little sad, hoping that it'll be 2 weeks in the near future!
Love your invoice template and am so appreciative to have been one of the beta testers. I used the template for my most recent brand collab and it looks and feels so professional! A video idea I was thinking of is when to know when to inc or llc your content work. Is there a threshold or an income amount that you should consider before doing that?
@@AustenTosone my content creator friend went ahead and got her LLC for her work and she said it was really easy. I’m not sure if it would be helpful for taxes or not but I imagine it may help streamline some processes.
After extensive research on YT, you are the only one I have found to talk about actual payment process! Thank you so much for this video. I am a very small account on IG but receive tons of small campaign offers via dms. I want to start somewhere even if it is a small fee just to get the experience started.
This is such a great and helpful video! I am struggling a lot writing contracts for my brand partners... is there a template you have for collaboration contracts? Ofc it needs adjustments every time but this would help me to get the basics right! thank you so much!
Totally feel this! In general I’ve had brands provide me with contracts so I’m not entirely sure. @curator_counsel on Instagram is probably a good person to ask about this I always go to her with legal questions 👍🏻
@@AustenTosone that helps a looot!! Also: how long does it take for you to agree on the contact terms? Weve been negotiating a long time is that normal?🙈🙈
@@Swizzyinsg ooh good Q! It totally depends I’ve been talking to one brand since March 2 and we still don’t have a contract signed so I feel like it can really vary depending on how big their company is if there are lots of approvals
Thank you so much for this video! I'm about to wrap up my first paid collaboration with a brand and had no idea how to do an invoice, so this definitely cleared it all up for me.
I LOVE your content!! Thank you so much for these gems- you’re amazing! I have a question- When brands ask to send over w9 with invoice- what does that mean?
Thank you for watching! A W9 is a tax form you’ll need to send them. You can actually just Google it and download one from the IRS website. Super easy!
don't overthink it, keep it simple! "Here is a link to the live post! Thank you again so much for working with me. I've attached my invoice and if you need any other information to process payment, please let me know."
I'm a Jamaican youtuber, just reach 1k Subscribers but not with the 4000 watch hours but will get there. I use to take free product but I stop because free labour is hard and trust me this video is so helpful right now. Thank you so much. I will be browsing and taking notes with these videos
Your videos are fab and helpful . I have a question . Is it better to send them a email about you trading products for creating makeup looks . I heard some brands do consider micro influencers
You can absolutely pitch brands for both gifted and paid projects! I recommend that you have either 1,000 followers or 6 months of consistent content on your main posting platform before pitching. I have a few videos with pitching tips and my pitch ebook (paid resource) which is linked in the description of this video.
I am sooooo confused! I just found this video and I’m so thankful for it! BUT on the legal part when taxes come around what do I need to do? Do I need an LLC or something? I’m a beauty influencer on Instagram & this was my first paid collab. I was so excited but now I’m terrified to even continue accepting them.
Hi Katelyn! Totally understandable to be confused if you're new, don't be scared to take on paid deals! I would definitely find an accountant to help you but generally, I'd advise you to track your income and expenses in a Google sheet and plan to pay quarterly taxes since taxes aren't taken out of your payment when you freelance for brands. I have another video where I talk more about finances an expenses you might like here: ruclips.net/video/aBFgzcdZa9Q/видео.html
Unfortunately I haven't! Once I had a payment processor that gave me the option to forego 2.5% of my total rate for instant payment but I didn't want to do that.
Very helpful information. Thanks for sharing these tips. I am going to send my first email pitch to a brand and have no idea how to negotiate or what to expect. This video helped me to prepare for the next steps. Best of Luck to everyone starting this whole process like myself. Luvjoypeace49

It depends on the company and what’s in your contract! But currently 30 days is average. Glad you liked this!!

I'm so happy to hear that! That's a great question. I haven't personally done either of those but I can work on doing some research on it 😇

Do I also send the invoice to the person I was in contact with? Are they then responsible for forwarding it to the finance department?
I have always sent it to my contact unless they have provided a separate email address to someone in the finance department. Hope that helps!

Can I also use that in Europe?

Can you send an invoice as a person or do you need to make your own company? I want to start this and invoicing gives me trouble
yes, before I had my LLC I was able to invoice as a sole proprietor! Just make sure you keep a record of all of them for when tax season rolls around.
Can someone please tell me what the invoice ID is and how I create one? 🥺🥺
I personally just started with 001 and have worked my way up! Just so you have something to internally reference. 😊 hope this helps!
