I’m not really a geotuber but I discovered this community almost a year and a half ago and I gotta say it’s pretty wild for a community centered on geography and geopolitics. Lots of drama, lots of trolls, alliances, and wars. This was a great video detailing this community that I’ve observed for a year and a half! Very informative.

I must say that you've done very well to explain and differentiate the channels classified as "geotubers". Personally, I'm a mapper who makes war scenario videos, and it's quite unfortunate that this original form of mapping is slowly fading away. This community as a whole is now engulfed in conflict. The "warriors" and "trolls" have unfortunately taken over...
You should make more commentary videos like these, I enjoyed this and I'm sure others did as well.

I prefer not to call Geotubers "Mappers" as there is another community that used that term for a long time ever since 2008 that has alot of names for it (like the Mapping Community, Mapperdonia, etc.) but what this Mapping is about is a series of images depicting a Political map with nations talking to create a narrative. A good example of Mappers who do that would be Kyiv Mapping, High Peak Mapping, Miksi XIII and Korean Mapping and even me.
as a geotuber who makes countryballs, i can confirm that this community is toxic af except some countryballs animators like ishfak, sammir, wazih, ashdoesgames, and others. but the only bad countryballs animators i can confirm are like these other geotubers are alg_animation, leo_ball, faqids, stateballs, etc.
Im glad i stick with drew durnil and korac mapping there the only good geotubers that ever existed

I personally disagree with your consideration of a mapper, I agree that most mappers make low quality edits about country relations, or garbage that's really not hard to come across and sometimes is inaccurate or bias, but I think in a few cases mappers can be the most skilled of all of the geotuber parts, combining mapping + editors (Although a lot of the time with better software) to create story-telling with countries as characters, altho the genre of mapping is fazing out and is dying, partly due to the rise of lazy edits, mapping in its original form (Which has existed for years) still exists, prominent figures eg Kyiv Mapping or Miksi XIII exist, altho neither are really active often anymore, tho still post videos (Most likely due to burnout or family life, with the latter especially). I'd consider the 'mappers' who make the cringe relation edits are just worse editors, not mappers since mapping has been its own genre that has existed for years and is highly different, and a lot of the time those cringe videos will use god awful software for video production.
I just hate the fact that its always some brainrot phonk music in the background and absolutely no creativity whatsoever

I would say there should be two types of mappers, one has more quality and is usually longer form and the other is low effort shorts. The whole point of shorts is to make a lot of content fast while the longer form is to tell a story or show in great detail historical events. I prefer the longer content as I like the quality that comes with it with people who know what their doing.
