Yet, if the _actual_ property owner tried to build that shack in the driveway the city would be all over him with permit issues. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Omg was just thinking the same thing
I wonder how an HOA would respond to this sort of thing
Truth
Just move his "home" to the parking lot of the courthouse while he's in court, see how fast they resolve that issue.
Excellent idea!
It's clear you guys don't know how evictions work Lmao
Then you would end up being arrested cause that would be considered an illegal lockout! Then when the tenant goes to court the judge will mostly like award damages to the tenant.
evictions? tenant? this guy has never been a ''tenant''
@@candycoatedcyanide3267 How the hell is that an illegal lockout? He could still get in his shack. It just wouldn't be in the same spot.
There shouldn’t even be such a thing as “Squatters Rights”.
Puppies4ever agree 💯 I just don't get how they have rights it's crazy. I would atleast think it's trespassing something.
I learned about "Squatters Rights" by watching an episode of Sanford and Son. 😂

Your right they should not be no such thing as squatters rights
Yet migrants rights
The news station just described him as a renter....Renters pay rent! He is not a renter.
JJJ SMITH that’s what I thought! He’s a freeloader!
My thought too
News stations also call criminals that have committed a crime a "suspect"
Does the guy have a smoke detector in his trailer ? 🤔🔥
Yes he's a renter! He pays rent!

1upTriforce So right! Some of these people work harder to get something free than if they just used that energy to get something honestly.
A job would interfere with his dope smoking & booze consumption.
RA Allen unfortunately you are probably right!
He'll claim disability due to the Mental Stress of having to constantly guard his pos "mobile home" from being towed away and the Judge would find the squatter 'in the right".....or should I say left?
he's a socialist......he wants his share of your stuff !
Sometimes the "law" is worthless. In such cases vigilante justice is called for.
I totally agree!
Perhaps there's a bike gang with a truck who could hitch up his trailer and drag it away for him.
Whatever happened to kicking somebody's ass, then asking them to leave.
The law benefits the system. If it’s something against the system then police will seize your property , put you in jail, beat you.
If he has unpaid traffic tickets he should have warrants out and the police can arrest him on the spot. Crazy to still have squatter rights.
"That guy's trespassing" I'm sorry, he's the LAND LORD, you know, the one who pays the taxes for the property you're living on?
The judge should pass an order that if he does it again, to anyone else, that he'll go to jail. Hopefully it'll prevent him from doing it again.
When they have the gall to say, "You can`t touch me!" is the exact moment you need to prove them wrong...
I drag his trailer into the middle of the street at 3am, and then go back to bed.
Throw him in jail for the unpaid tickets, then take the trailer home for code violations while he is in jail.
he must have been smokin in bed
That’s actually a great idea. Where I live if he stayed in jail 10 days I could trash his stuff and get on with my life
Pat McBride I love your comment priceless😍
Get a friend to pump raw sewage into his trailer. Drill a hole, put the nozzle in turn on the valve. I did this 40 years ago in Florida to a trailer. They moved.
Little harsh....get locking garbage cans and fish market waste. The bugs or smell should evict him. Put the cans on that side of the house, if by law officers ask...I'm composting.
Mark Andreaveysen

Mark Andreasen Hahahaha, this is a great suggestion. No overflow please on the driveway!!! LoL....😱🤪😃😂😂

Happy ending for all.
Oh, well.
This is a JOKE. My husband would just go out there and rip it to shreds. Fair Dinkum.
I hate Australians.
This is rediculous! There was never landlord and tenant here! This guy Bob Cox is simply trasspassing on a private property! Beside, many cities have a bylaw! Some city does not allow you to park a trailor on your own property or the driveway.
Which means that the homeowner would be cited not the squatter.
M. Kenaga Ivy Tech CC At that point homeowner says ok give me written order to remove it! Once he has order he moves it to the dump. If squatter objects, show order to move & say go talk to them. They legally told me I have to move it, so I did!
Being told by the city he has to move it is the best thing that can happen to him
id pull it out in the street and let the cops do something now id make sure it had flat tires just for good measure
Make sure to tow it to the next 2 counties over.
I've never understood "squatters rights." At the point they come onto my property, they are tresspassers. If they rent the home and then refuse to leave, it should take no more than an eviction. After the 30 days, they are tresspassing again and you arrest them and the cops confiscate everything.
I also see the people who move into empty homes for sale and change the locks and then talk about their "rights." Um, they tresspassed onto my property, so haul them off to jail officer and donate their belongings, please.
If they enter a dwelling they have no right to they call that breaking and entering. That used to be illegal. The police need to grow some and get serious with these fools. After all, the property owner paying taxes is the one paying them to serve and protect.
Wait til he leaves for a while, then hook up to it and tow it away. Either that or burn it down.
I would have it towed away, I’m not burning it down because technically that is arson. The truth is, if you wait till he leaves, and then have it towed away, the police probably won’t do a thing about it, because you can claim that his trailer was blocking the garage, you asked him to move it, but he said no, so you had it towed.
he must been smoking in bed
@@Keaton0801 in the real world this might work but Seattle/Oregon is a s#$thole full of leftist politicians.

So far, I have used "5 Cholo's Midnight Eviction Services" three times at my rental properties. I guarantee they have a branch near you.
That or a Bobcat
The day he goes to court is the day the ‘house’ on the trailer is towed off the property.
I would have that trailer attached to my Sierra heading down the road!!
don't bet on it, many judges give lowlife "tenants" time to move.
No one should have the right to stay on someone else’s property without permission
They said he built it on a trailer that was in the driveway . Hook the trailer up and move it. That would be no more illegal than what he is doing. He is trespassing plain and simple. Does he have a lease ?
Does he pay rent? This should not be a court case . I mean if he can just do what he did than the landowner should be Able to move the trailer or sale it to be moved.
Where is his building permit. Trailer needs tags and property tax ID decal
if he had tags id take em then the city would have to remove it whare i live they would
Lawyers use the term SQUATTER. Anyone with a brain uses the term TRESSPASSER or THIEF.
IDK what money that person had to pay but I have a neighbor who took over some of my property, moved in, and according the the courts in order for me to get him out I have to go to Civil court, either represent myself which the system makes difficult, or find a lawyer at $500.00/hr. It is absolutely one big nightmare.
GET MEDIATORS BOARD UP DOORS WINDOWS OF HOUSE SQUATTERS IN WHILE HES IN CIVIL COURT WITH YOU
It would be a shame if that tiny house caught on fire.
How could the legal system make these laws possible
The law that protects squatters is totally RIDICULOUS!
Where is the law to protect homeowners rights??
#1 Have the power and water to the house shut off!
Oh look! Someone stole his trailer! Sucks man
when he goes to buy pot... drop it off at the dump
you mean meth
Its funny he can sue him for the stuff he steals.
Blackbean Burger LOL
Daniel Harvey if he throws it away it's not stolen, it's lost. He'd have to find in the owner's possession. It'll be in a landfill. The squatter is a lunatic!
Blackbean Burger it's more likely he's a drinker!!!
He’s trespassing. That is a crime. Cops need to do their job
The nerve to call him a renter. Call him the squatter he is
The law needs to change. This is insane that anyone can just build a shack on your property and stay there? What???
tow it to the court house parking when he leaves to get supplies and shut off all utility access to the property or even just in the middle of the street squatters rights are kinda like the homestead act there has to be someone in the shelter at all times. Plus at the time of this incident he was only there a year and a half. Plus for squatter rights to start in CA he has to be there for a minimum 5 years after the lease is up. It is criminal trespass
Sadly this isn’t true
A letter mailed is enough in most cases
The owner is to nice. I would’ve tore the trailer apart. Or hooked my truck to it and drove to the middle of no where and left it there
Then you will get arrest
Simple solution, hook trailer up to truck tow it away.

I don't see how non-permanent residences, i.e. vehicles, apply to squatter rights. He can live in his trailer, just not on that property.
he's not squatting, he was a tenant, now he has tenants rights.

It really couldn't get much easier. It's on wheels! Canadians are just too nice.
In some areas, you could call a Tow service and forcefully take that lil shack off the lot at his expense. Illegal parking/storage, but all depends on laws in the city/state your in.
It takes a criminal mind to create legislation and a legal structure that defends criminals.
put that squatter in jail... he can call that his home.
Use some creativity to get him out. His little hut is definitely not up to code. File a complain and force him to tear it down. Keep all your door and window lock. With no place to live in, he is technically a trespasser.
I would hook on to that trailer and haul it to the dump
I had it happen to me squatters moved into an empty rental home that I owned, it was very expensive legal battle to get them out, it was a mess they destroyed the place stole the entire kitchen out of the home cut out built in wall units a real mess it cost me a ton to get then out
That’s very strange, I would’ve thought because the squatters are trespassing they should just been forcefully removed. And I can’t understand how squatters have more rights than the owners that pay the property taxes and the mortgage etc.
Hey believe me I wanted to take care of it myself but it was I that would have gone to jail
"I'm not kicking you out of the trailer, I'm just putting the trailer down the street" And that is how you end run around the law.
"I've got squatters rights"
me: "I've got property rights, I pay for this property" *moves thing in front of it, proceeds to hook the trailer up to my truck and take it to the local dump*
that would be illegal if he's inside it

$1200.00 in Unpaid traffic fines is enough to get him tossed into jail. THEN, you can move him out for Abandoning the property !!
Kind of surprising that some guys haven't shown up some night with baseball bats and turned that shack into splinters.
Squatters should have no laws.........period!

He’s a pretty good carpenter.
You mean all I have to do is entitled myself to your home and say squatters rights, why am I working so hard and paying taxes for such laws if anyone can come and take it that easy, what bs
How is he getting access to power? He had a light and a kettle both of which were plugged into some kind of socket. Charge him for the bill and for rent to be on the property. Personally, if someone did that to me, next time they're out, their dear little home would suffer an electrical fault and oops, burn down.
He's stealing power from the property owner.
@@slowemm If it wasn't part of the deal, I'd be turning it off at the mains and only switching it back on when I wanted it - without any warning to him so he could take advantage.

A southern Alberta landlord has won his battle to remove a squatter living in a small shack sitting on a trailer on the man's rental property. 11/7/17
I can't stress this enough. One behind the ear and your troubles fade away.
simply contaminate the shack with deer scent....problem solved

I guess I was raised differently. This to me is theft of property and rental income.
Would just move the trailer with him in it. Where ever you stop, given Bob has no way to move it, that is where he would be staying. Walmart parking lot works for me. Disconnect and drive away.
Is he using the homeowners electricity as well? It appeared to be lights on in his shack, this is insane
This guy should park that rolling shack inside a Starbucks. I hear they let bums loiter there now.
Rod you’re a real idiot
+Kenya I retract my statement. You have to be black to be able to loiter at Starbucks. This guy was white. They'll throw him out.
The easy way is to squat the squatter. Get a friend to get into the place and ask the squatter what is for lunch as he has as much right to squat as the first guy did.
People just don't understand. I don't know the exact history, but what happened is a while back somewhere in the USA some bleeding - heart judge interpreted (read: ignored) the law because he felt sympathy for some squatter scumbag. Along comes other squatter scumbags looking for and finding more guilt-ridden, bleeding-heart judges, and the next thing you know, the law doesn't matter, scumbags have "rights", and honest people suffer at the hands of liars, thieves, and con-men. If the rightful owner of this property makes any move against this scumbag, well just say that is the scumbags biggest hope, because he would sue and probably win. The judicial system in this country is seriously flawed, folks, in that most judges are left-leaning politically and unable to leave their bias out of the courtroom. Conservative judges are getting harder and harder to find. Conservative judges do their best to interpret laws narrowly and as close to original intent as they can, liberal judges just want to be seen as nice people, and purposely misinterpret laws in ways they know were never intended, so they can feel good about themselves for "championing the little people".
Dexter Fishbourne more so in the socialist state.
This case isn't in the USA
A lot of unfortunate things would have happened to his mini house.
Hook up take to L.
I would tow that thing to city hall and leave it there
You hear about these horror stories all the time. I remember going to school in the 1950s a boy in my class telling me that his family knew the law better than a lawyer on getting extra welfare and not paying the rent or utilities. You will always find people like that and if you try to do anything you are the one who gets into trouble.
There's always one who ruins it for everybody.
I'd hook up to that trailer, tow it to the nearest open field, and leave it there. Next, post a no trespassing sign next to his driveway. If the trailer returns, have that bum arrested for trespassing, and have the police impound the tresspassing trailer. While that jerk sits in jail for a while because of unpaid parking tickets, the storage fees for his trailer will accumulate, which he wouldn't be able to pay for. Play the system like that jerk is doing.
Call tow truck have it impounded! That will do it!
They continued to allow him to plug into their power? I feel no pity for any. Should never have got the cops involved. It has a trailer hitch, just hitch up and pull it down the road and act totally surprised when you find out that abandoned trailer in the driveway had a bum inside.
Bob is the lowest form of life!!
he made a mistake by getting the law and courts involved. what he should have done was give a family member a temporary lease and wait for the guy to leave to pull that monstrosity down the street. then moved his leased family member in with a couple peices of furniture then the renter could call the cops when the Squater tried to move the trailer back onto the property.
The most dangerous thing: someone who knows their rights lol! I wish best of luck to the landlord and the renter.
squatters rights usually takes 7 years of continuous occupation to come into effect. but he may be a tenant, and not simple trespass.
Take him outback and teach him the right way we do things
Why is there a problem here? The shack is on wheels. Get a few of your buddies to come over at 3am and tow it out to a mall parking lot while he's asleep inside it. Better yet, tow it to the nearest police station parking lot and leave it in the lot entrance. Cops will definitely deal with it then.
Since when do they allow someone to live in a cabin in a driveway?
He’s got to go shopping at some point, hook up his trailer and tow it to the dump.
This one may actually be easier to deal with than most. As the homeowner, file a complaint of an illegal non permitted structure. Let the inspector come look. He will say "it's got to go". Then immediately destroy it.
It doesn't work that way. The city will slap the homeowner with a fine for by-law violation. You can't even touch the shack because it's not your property. I am dealing with the same situation right now.
@Toastman what "by-law" infraction? Seems to me, if they are sighting the homeowner for the infraction, they are then deeming that shack "property of the homeowner.", if they deem it "property of the homeowner" and it is not a "permitted build, " they would be required to take it down immediately. So exactly what violation would be sighted in the infraction and what state do you live in?
I would have swiftly moved it in the dark of night, then barricaded my driveway.
You have to go to court to get someone to stop living in your driveway. That is sad. oh wait its canada, it all makes sense now.
Wouldn’t it be sad if you weren’t paying attention and you accidentally backed your truck up in the driveway and completely destroyed his shack?
never understood how the law allows this
Hasn't paid rent or utilities.... who is paying the utility bill? If the house renter is paying that utility bill, the squatter is breaking the "theft of utilities" law and that's easily demonstrated if he has hookups to the house somehow.
No! He's trespassing! He was never the original renter and he doesn't pay rent. He is a trespasser. That is not a legal home on that property either! WTH?!
I agree. Anyway, it's long over, landlord won the case.
