I am a “this version lover” of Borderline also but after listening the album version again and again I am happy to say that both versions are enjoyable for me.
This song is such a cultural fusion... samples from so many different genres and countries... gorgeous sounds
Just curious what cultural fusion are you speaking of and different genres and countries.TI is Psychedelic pop psychedelic rock indie rock synth-pop neo-psychedelia. Parker uses Ableton Live as his DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) of choice. Ableton Live is not the rock musician's typical DAW of choice; it's mostly used by DJs and electronic music producers precisely because of its looping capabilities. So not clear on cultural fusion as this particular song is indie pop/dance. He uses a lot of electronics other than his more psych rock songs on Inner Speaker. They are more guitar centered with a smooth yet gritty rock tone. Take Solitude is Bliss, Elephant,Led Zeppelin especially The Bold Arrow of Time with it’s driven guitar, slight distortion, gain on front output. So the genres are pretty straight forward even though he has a mix. Genres have a baseline and then sub genres come out of that. So maybe that’s what you mean.

@@ginanotafan1039 I mentioned to another that it’s a pan flute which as a flutist yourself know the difference in its design, use of bamboo etc and has tubes that gradually get longer in lenght. So the tone and sounds are completely different. But yes the pan flute sounds wonderful.

I hadn’t even realized til now that the song was changed after release. My CD copy has the original, but it was an initial pressing.
The NEW Song is like reanimation from linkin park was to hybrid theory... everyone disliked it for just being remixes but as time passed the people I know began to appreciate it more and more for its diversity. Just don't get hung up on the old. Enjoy the new borderline song... be glad you guys have the older one which is apparently more deep and now you have a more funky one which gives off the vibes.
