The concept for this song is brilliant. I think it's one of Kevin's best written songs.
The moment. It's getting closer. Yet, it never comes, does it? You can hear it. He put delay on the vocals, "it's getting closer," almost signifying that he's repeating it himself in his head. It's never coming. The present is all we have.
It's so simple and the melodies and riffs are absolutely masterfully placed. Kevin Parker just knows how to make shit that my mind obsesses over. Fuck, man.
After reading the final outro to this song, I kinda feel like hes talking about death, or the moment in which you cant do the things you've aspired to do

This is the breakup album. The Moment is the breakup when put into it’s original context. He alludes to it a ton. Especially with the next song on the album being Eventually.
The girls in pink contrast, imitate the flamingos on the bank
It's almost like the "Closer" are actually echoes of something getting further away. The production plays off it ironically.

Remember not just the amazing day and see it Big and you small when thinking..realize you can be and should be that way of thinking/feeling etc everyday. Write down in the moment epiphanies or realizations..let it flow through you. As alan watts said "get the message and hang up the phone" and work to adjust your everyday low consciousness life to 'fit' what was/is Known while at higher consciousness. It's not easy work but essential. Love you all keep on getting closer. Introspection and emotional honesty my friends :)

To me, the song is about getting to a peak when you’re high. Jumping, repeating scenes in the video fit to this very much.

It is - in my opinion - the best double CD that is NOT a "best of" or "live" compilation. Not a single clunker on either CD - how often is that true of any group?
This is a double CD? I did not know that. I own the vinyl version which is a double but I guess I have never seen the CD version.
