- Hello everyone, I hope you are taking care of yourself.
Today I want to share with you my process for coloring hair in Procreate.
(Coloring with Procreate can be a little difficult especially if your learning the program for the first time...like me. ) ...so I made a tutorial to make things better!

Dicentra Asterisk yes, the hardest thing for me to get used to on procreate is that compared to SAI, it doesn’t have the same level of pen correction . I have shaky hands so I relied on that correction feature :’)

Thank you for the video :o some of your comments in it kinda reflect my feelings too about the challenge of trying to find a nice way of blending/shading in Procreate. I personally gave up cuz I was frustrated how much tinkering and customizing (or brush hunting) must be done to create a similar blending experience of something like Sai or Medibang. I dunno how hardcore procreate people do it... I guess a lot of practice. It's really cool that you made this video though because I think a lot of people who like to draw Sai-ish kawaii animestyle don't really put up guides for Procreate much.
Yes! I 100% agree....this was a struggle I faced coming from SAI...it was hard to adjust to Procreate brushes on top of the lack of procreate anime tutorials. As I learn more, I want to make more procreate tutorials for the anime peeps ;)
What is the basebrush for the custom brush?

The smudge tool dosent smudge it just draws on the colour like any other brush?

I loved this coloring tutorial and I wanna do it so bad - but can you explain how you managed the layers? That's the part I'm kind of stuck on at the moment with my own pic and I am so used to Photoshop's settings... rofl

@Andrew A Sure thing!! I dunno if it's the exact same process that Dicentra does it, but basically I selected the layer I was working on (in my case, the hair flats), then selected "Alpha Lock" for that layer. AL isolated the colors for the hair (or anything you did on that layer) and locked it so you can't work outside the colors.

This helped a lot! I been tryna get noticed on Tik Tok for my digital art that im doing and i dont rlly get noticed once i post it and i find it unfair that some artists can work hard to get few attention when people who dont try get so much attention but this helped!
