Use a larger canvas size and set your DPI to at least 300. Try not to draw on the canvas when you’re zoomed in. It helps to view the entire canvas on your screen and draw on it, and only zoom in to do details!
I'm a middle-stage digital artist but there are definitely some good tips here for everyone. So many headaches can be saved by setting up the canvas right and shortcuts. The layer part is especially good!
This helped me so much! It was a bit hard for me to switch from regular drawing on paper to drawing digitally and this pretty much gave me so many essentials that I was missing before thank you ❤
Checked tons of Procreate tutorials so far, especially when I first purchased my iPad last year. NONE OF THEM was this good. All of them basically explained Procreate basics in a 'tutorial' way, even if it was tips. I've never heard of the menu you used with three fingers for example... Nice tips! ^_^
Great video! This included a lot of unique tips that I don’t usually see in other “how to be a digital artist” type videos. I especially liked the advice to be you’re own fan; personally, it’s so cool to see my own improvement even if I didn’t like what I made at the time.
Thank you so much. I just had a thought today, “I want to try digital art” This is the first video when I looked up help. Your advice was helpful to me! Thank you so much!!❤
Really great to see an artwork like this... I appreciate your effort , Inorder to give out a beautiful and brilliant art piece!we may not know each other but hoping to see more artworks ahead from a well-talented person like you!THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR IDEAS WITH US.... May you succeed in everything you do❤️. God bless!......
This was very useful I’m new to this digital art stuff. I got this iPad as a gift and pen I’m traditionally a pencil on paper type of person and I’m a bit intimidated by tech but it also looks very cool and inspiring. I hope to come far in near future. The video was very informative and really well put and advises are very much appreciated.
Thats actually pretty encuraging.Thanks. Soo.I am starting with digital act right now .I am a starter.I mean.I always drew before but just stoped at sometime for a reason i dont know.I'm trying to slowely get into it again and then there was digital art and i was like .Wow.I wanna do that too.Maybe i can take a tip or two.oooooh✨
First of all ,I really appreciate the efforts in making of this video. 👏💐 I love this vid , It definitely helped me a lot and I had been able to discover so many new things about digital art ... I haven't tried it yet even though I really want to but hopefully in the future I might be able to try it🤞 . And I am definitely keeping all your tips and tricks in mind😄. Your voice is soo soothing to hear😌 and I love all the sketches you made. Love this video sooo much💕. 🦋Take care 🦋
oh my gosh thank you so much, i'm very encouraged and happy to hear you liked the video! That's very exciting to hear that you're thinking of trying digital art in the future :) take care ❤️💕
i kinda want to know how to add on to a sketch after finishing one. I don’t understand how someone can go from a normal sketch, to a fully rendered drawing! it’s amazing! but I want to know
I personally always go for the Dry Ink brush (sketch/lineart), Procreate Pencil brush (sketch), and Technical Pen brush (lineart)! You can always adjust the streamline settings to your preference :)
im actually new to digital art but this is good tips fr but i know how to draw on just paper and turns out good but when trying this new thing of procreate drawing its so hard like shading on hair or body making perfect lines like its so hard to understand i need more help :(
I know im 2 years late on this one. but ive recently got into digital. draw somewhat traditionally. Right now all i tend to draw are semi realistic portraits and id love to move towards stylized rather than realism but i fear that would cripple me when i feel as though im lacking fundamentals. despite not knowing how long to study those, let alone how to study some of them. any tips or advice would be great.
I approach stylization by pick and choosing from different styles and incorporating it into my own drawing. For example, one of my favorite artists is “itslopez”. I especially love the way she draws her eyes. I’ll study her art, and then try to recreate it on my own drawing. It takes a lot of trial and error, and the best way to learn stylization is to keep drawing to bring out your own “style”! As for stylization of actual real life character into your own, it’s helpful to pick one or two physical traits of the subject and make sure it’s emphasized/focused on in your own drawing.
I just started digital art, after ive been doing sketches and traditional art my whole life. It is so difficult and i feel like my art looks HORRIBLE every time i try digital.
honestly ngl i've been doing digital for a while now...and i still feel like my art looks awful so i'm not sure if that feeling will ever go away tbh 🥲 i found it helpful to just embrace what i create and keep an open mind for improvement all the time!
i've come across some incredible finger artists. it might create some hurdles, but with passion and perseverance i believe great art can be created regardless of what tools you have access to~
I'm an artist switching from ClipStudio / PaintTool on computer to Procreate! I've never owned an Apple product, let alone drawn on Procreate, and I'm struggling to understand the program enough to shade on it like I could on computer :(
A way to shade it to get your colour Like say for my drawing i used green u want to use a very black colour and also watching anime help bc u see what colours to shade :D
go to actions (top left wrench icon) > prefs > gesture controls > quick menu > turn on "three-finger swipe" you should be able to adjust all gestures in the "gesture control" page :)
I have a question i use ibis paint x and a oneplus mobile phone to draw, is it needed to buy a ipad to draw? My parents won't allow me my eye sight is bad as it is i have an old samsung tablet already but it bugs a lot-
If you clip Layer 1 onto Layer 2, then anything you draw on layer 2 will be directly on top of whatever is already drawn on layer 1. You’re technically drawing on top of whatever is already layer 1, except on a “new layer”. Does this simplify it 😵💫
some free ones i can think of on top of my head: krita, gimp, medibang paint, sketchbook, fire alpaca! i started out with medibang paint as my first drawing program :)

I have a question, what brush do you use?
So helpful! How do I draw without it looking too pixelated?
Use a larger canvas size and set your DPI to at least 300. Try not to draw on the canvas when you’re zoomed in. It helps to view the entire canvas on your screen and draw on it, and only zoom in to do details!
I use a lot of different brushes, but my favorites are 6B Pencil and Hard Air Brush on Procreate!
What app do you use ?
*my delusional self saying “Imma watch one tutorial and I’m gonna make a fucking masterpiece ✨*
and then I get upset when it doesn't look how I wanted it too
My delusional self watching a hundred tutorials and still making hot garbage
Yeah..💀
Me rn
Me too😂

What pencils do you recommend drawing with on procreate?
Thank you for the tips 💕
I personally always go for the Dry Ink brush (sketch/lineart), Procreate Pencil brush (sketch), and Technical Pen brush (lineart)! You can always adjust the streamline settings to your preference :)

my random ahh who SOME HOW lost 2 of her bought apple pens, and draws with a finger. also these tips are really helpful!

happy new years :)
@@aliciedraws ;o woaih u relied lol happy new years ;D i feel so special noW- 😭🥲😂
Hi thank you so much for the tips🫶🏻 Can I just ask, what brushes do you use for sketching and for outline ? :)
I switch off between the 6b pencil brush and the hard air brush! They're both default brushes on procreate
I’m a beginner and acc shit at art so hopefully this helps! I’ll edit once I improve :)
I can draw humans on paper, but not on digital,it’s just harder for no reason
same
I feel the opposite, paper drawing is much harder for me 😵💫
@@aliciedrawson digital the eyes are so weird, one goes west the other going east for some reason 😢
HAPPY NEW YEARS! 2023 season comes to an end, i know that this was posted a year ago.
Thank you for your sharing tips, but I draw by Photoshop and I can't find Reference Tab on PS =(((( Someone please help !💗💗
The reference tab is under “actions” and then “canvas” but it’s only for procreate, not sure about photoshop sorry :(
I found that joining art communities worsen my mental health around drawing
Yall are so impressive. I cant draw for shit thats why I hate my life.
I now realized why i was struggling, I didn’t have proper equipment yet.
same
Today is my first day ever trying to attempt learning about digital art doesn't anyone know where to start
would it be hard to use a finger and a phone to achieve this?😊
i've come across some incredible finger artists. it might create some hurdles, but with passion and perseverance i believe great art can be created regardless of what tools you have access to~
when you said 'using reference tab' [4:55], where can you turn this on? i am a new procreate user so i am a little confused
It should be under the “actions” (top left wrench icon) and then “canvas” (second tab that looks like a square with a squiggle on it)
I can't continue a line . When i try to add something i draw it 2 mm on the right 😭
I'm an artist switching from ClipStudio / PaintTool on computer to Procreate! I've never owned an Apple product, let alone drawn on Procreate, and I'm struggling to understand the program enough to shade on it like I could on computer :(
A way to shade it to get your colour
Like say for my drawing i used green u want to use a very black colour and also watching anime help bc u see what colours to shade :D
i felt the same when i tried switching over to cilpstudio :(
❤❤❤
Under rated!
how do I change it for the gesture thing that you have like what things did you press for it ? I want to do that?
go to actions (top left wrench icon) > prefs > gesture controls > quick menu > turn on "three-finger swipe"
you should be able to adjust all gestures in the "gesture control" page :)
I have a question i use ibis paint x and a oneplus mobile phone to draw, is it needed to buy a ipad to draw? My parents won't allow me my eye sight is bad as it is i have an old samsung tablet already but it bugs a lot-
You dont necessarily “need” an iPad to draw, it’s just an additional tool that you can use to try out different techniques!
What brushes do you use
3:42 how did you get the circle while you draw
Go to Actions (top left wrench icon) > Prefs > turn in “brush cursor”!
What soft ware is this ??
I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS BUT I CAN'T DRAW😢
The secret to learning this is to start ❤
I’m so late to this but does the screen protector only work with iPad Pro?
Screen protectors can be used for any iPads as long as you get the correct size for it! It doesn’t only have to be for the iPad Pro :)
@@aliciedraws tysm!
I hqve a question, what app do you use
The app is procreate!
How do u do that
I have one problem… ive been drawing extremely well for like years and i lost all my progress😭😭
oh noo spend a few minutes every day to practice and im sure you'll get back to right where you left off 😭😭
I stopped drawing for months because I was only ever upset when I drew and art communities made me feel worse not better
I have 2 year art block
does anybody know any good screen protector's for an ipad pro 14.8?
I personally love the brand iCarez from Amazon. I've tried paperlike but didn't like it for several reasons.
I dont understand the clipping thing
If you clip Layer 1 onto Layer 2, then anything you draw on layer 2 will be directly on top of whatever is already drawn on layer 1. You’re technically drawing on top of whatever is already layer 1, except on a “new layer”.
Does this simplify it 😵💫
What the name of the app
The title says using procreate so the app they used in the vid is procreate lol
Woah your an amazing artist! I am new to yt and i am trying to develop my art skills so can you help me to draw like you?
one question? which free website can i use to draw on a mac book air laptop?
some free ones i can think of on top of my head: krita, gimp, medibang paint, sketchbook, fire alpaca! i started out with medibang paint as my first drawing program :)

I can't afford procreate sadly
