- Very rare visit to the Birmingham Airport in United Kingdom. Fuel stop by Douglas DC-8, registration N782SP was a no doubt highlight of the year. which bring hundreds of aviation enthusiasts from all over the UK, just to witness this special moment.
Beautiful aircraft. The great news is she’s still active, making occasional flights out of the US 👍🏻
This is Birmingham bro..
Nearly 3 years later and im still gutted I missed this
Amazing catch!! Great sound of those classic CFMs!
Thank you :)
Thats old airplane with new engines
Thats old airplane with new engines
@@thrustasymcomp9145 Yes but those CFM's are already classified as classic today.
Your forgetting the beautiful IAE’s and glorious JT8D’s
Nice CFM56-2 engine sound. First CFM56 engines to date.
But nothing like the roar of the ROLLS
@@flemingcourt agreed
Such a classic and a really powerful plane when they put cfm56's on it.
I flew on one 1981 - Gatwick to Alicante. It was so powerful on take off and noisy.Everything rattled.I was new to flying and i will never forget it.
Amazing aircraft I flown on one in April 1986 from Manchester to malaga it was an airline called canafrica it was bloody noisy and had all different coloured seats some were blue some green it was a rickety old thing but an enjoyable time at 14 years old at first I thought it was going to crash as it was so noisy but we got to Spain eventually I dont think there's any passenger one's flying I know there's a few still flying doing cargo runs I would love to fly on another one tho!!!😎
I think that plane had the smaller, louder, weaker engines of the 1950s-1960s.
What a gorgeous airplane, and she was so unique with her nostrils. Legend.
@Lonelykid X pressurisation intakes
@Lonelykid X The intakes at the nose of the plane, kinda looks like the A-6.
Love how clean Douglas wings look
Beautiful
She's beeeautiful! Great video. 👍✈
Wow incredible loud takeoff with awesome engine sound
That one is owned and operated by Samaritan's Purse Relief International. Beautiful livery, too!
the DC-8 and the A340 is my favorite. (the DC-8 with CFM)
Awesome. WOW Very nice!
Great catch thanks for sharing 👍
My pleasure ;)
Gotta Love that drone of them four engines spooling up a sound you just don’t hear no more, wonder if it’ll be back
Fingers crossed for the return flight :)
🤞
They used to have JT3D’s!!!!
Wow, nice! Thumbs up 👍
What a beauty!
AMAZING
Witaj, długo trzeba było czekać na coś nowego na Twoim kanale a teraz filmik jeden za drugim👍
Hej! No taki okaz wpadł, że szkoda by było nie opublikować filmiku ;)
👍
Love this aircraft 😊
Newer engines for sure.
That wing!
nice did not think one was still flying!
I think there is at list one more - NASA for sure and maybe more in the States :)
Hell yeah that buzz!!!!
Close your eyes and it sounds like a C-17
this sound looks like b757 and a340 200 or 300
Nice video. Not too rare for a 70 series, but more so a 72! Almost all 72s were private VIP planes, unless she was a freighter when 62 series, and stayed a freighter. Rare would have been a 61/63. She was probably been delivered somewhere. Still, nice video ideed.
No smoking with the cfm,s fitted
Those planes like the DC 8, 9
and Boeing 707, 727 were discontinued because they make too much noise
It’s not like they jus became old, inefficient and outdated
In case of the -63/-73 it was just old at that point since these engines are used on its spiritual successor the A340. If DC8s are maintained properly then they can be perfect freighters for everyday use
Hey Can i use this in a video of mine? I cant find your email on your channel otherwise i would have shot you an email
Hello. If you give me credit you can use.
@@AviationMania Thanks!
I would like to use a short few seconds of this in a video I am making too please and will credit you you also - is that ok?
Great video 😊 my video of it should be premiering soon. Liked & aubbed 👍👍
Thank you, I'm looking forward to see yours
That made me a little dizzy watching.
last dc-8?
I think NASA still have one and maybe some operators in the USA. Not sure. Non of them in Europe for sure.
Engines don't look like the original p and w ones
stunning plane with wrong fat engines
Looks like it's been re engined?
Yes it's a cfm56-2
Nothing on YT is rare.
obviously I mean real life ;)
@@AviationMania nonsense; you are clickbaiting.
Hush Kitted.
Very Quiet engines! Like as A340-300
It uses the same engine as the A340
Doubtful, wrong engines.
But still, the frame is very rare to see these days
Too quiet. 👎🏼
Uses the same engines as the A320 family and 737 family
