So I was having a problem with my motherboard. I think the XMP profile on my ram prevents the motherboard from booting and after cycling it forces it back to stock clocks while in the bios it says the XMP is still enabled.
So I go to update the bios and start the process. I changed the stupid XMP profile back to normal but forgot to “save and exit” or whatever horseshit you got to do and then the BIOS updater turns off my PC and then it fails to boot again and I have to sit there for 5 minutes as it is failing to boot.
This is the type of shit I hate about DIY PC stuff. Having to muck about with ram compatibility issues particularly is like pulling teeth.

So many different directions online. Can i ask please, do i need to rename the file or that's only if you do it directly from flash bios button ? Or should i just connect the usb on the bios port, turn on the motherboard using only the 2 power cables and do it from the visual menu?
Any asnwer will help for sure.

    • @KLEEBZTECH

If you are using the flash BIOS button then it must be renamed. Otherwise if doing this way in the BIOS interface you do not. But if you want to do it this way you need to have the PC built and able to boot into the BIOS. We do have a video for the flash BIOS method as well here: ruclips.net/video/CujWytnuWRg/видео.html

I upgraded to the 7800X3D and am using the X670 Aorus Elite AX motherboard. I've updated BIOs on other boards a bunch of times before but I was having such trouble getting the USB to show up in the Q-Flash menu so I could select it and continue with the update. Turns out all I had to do was go back to the home screen and just save and exit while the USB stick was plugged in and had the bios file on it. Once I opened the BIOs again and went to the Q-Flash menu after the restart, I could see the file and select it. Hope this helps anyone searching for answers!

Most likely means you are using a USB drive over 32GB. Windows will not give you the option with one that large. If you know how, you can create just a 32GB partition and then format but I find the smaller USB drives are more reliable for this sort of thing.

    • @KLEEBZTECH

By default Windows does not show a file extension if it's a known file type. And if for some reason another file has been associated with a browser it will just show that browser icon instead.
