      I have done ww since 2010 and the points plus program, and I have lost over 90 lbs and kept it off. I do not buy into the all or nothing mentality, and the zero point foods make that possible. Zero point foods have fat, carbohydrates and protein so that when I am hungry I can eat. Even if I decided to have all of my points in junk food that day. Yes, it is similar to calorie tracking but the key to making it sustainable is the zero point foods, I have never binged on Kale, Chicken breast or eggs in my life. And I have had Oreos, Peanut butter, chocolate and ice cream everytime I have wanted it. That's why ww works. I would like u to try it for a month and then redo this video that would be an interesting watch :)

      @@emotionaleatingcoach But they indicated that they’ve been doing it since 2010 and haven’t gained any of the weight back that they’ve lost. So, while many people may have failed on it, many people have also gone on it, left and kept the weight off (succeeded). The people who tend to fail on these programs or “bounce back” to their old weight never actually tried to learn nutrition from these kinds of programs. They just use it as a temporary fix and go back to their old habits, which isn’t at all the program’s fault when it can work and be sustainable.

    I did weight watches because it was easier than calorie counting. Eventually I got used to the way of eating and didn’t need to count points anymore because I had developed the habit of eating more fruits and vegetables which prevented me from bingeing on chips or sweets. That was 3 years ago and I haven’t regained any weight. I now have started tracking Marcos because I’m trying to build muscle.

    I’ve just started ww. It’s just a guide but you have to use your common sense, like not eating lots of zero point foods. I would like to just use this as a lifestyle not just a diet. It has me eating more healthy, drinking water and feeling better. When I achieve my weight goal, I just want to maintain it. I don’t eat lots of sweet food, I just gained weight during lockdown.

    • @emotionaleatingcoach
      @emotionaleatingcoach  3 года назад +5

      That's great if you're losing weight on it. Just a lot of people struggle because common sense is overrided by survival instincts and when people haven't worked on the mental issues, their motivation and decisions go all over the place.

    I could not disagree with this video more. WW is an excellent program for teaching people who have food issues, how to eat. It’s taught me about portion control and how to make the best choice for whatever setting I am in. I have lost weight slowly and kept it off. It’s not a diet. It teaches you a new lifestyle.

      It's because I've spoken to 100s of women who've done the same thing - unfortunately.
      So, the best plan is something you can stick to. And just being a plan means that at some point you won't stick to it. So that's why a structure works best using a way of measuring portions without counting. That's how I do it with my clients. I'm doing a live video at 6pm in my facebook group today about this if you'd like to join and watch. Many years ago my Mom did weight watchers, it was a relatively new program at the time, and it has changed a lot over the years, she really enjoyed it, but I think it was more the social aspect that she enjoyed, she lost a few pounds while on the plan, but not really a lot of weight. I myself don't believe in any diet programs out there, most are quite expensive. I lost 140 lbs. over 2 years on my own, just by counting calories, and exercising. I didn't cut any foods out of my diet, but I do weigh my food, and count every calorie. I don't know why so many people need programs to tell them what to eat. It isn't hard to figure out that steamed vegetables are better for you than McDonalds. Easy diet plan Lean meat, lots of Veggies, and Fruits. Drink low calorie beverages, and limit grains in your diet, oh and move more. If a 63 year old woman can do this anyone can

    • @emotionaleatingcoach

      Julie! That's great. The only thing you have to consider is that a lot of people suffer from emotional eating which they feel urges to eat things they don't want to.

      Because counting calories yourself takes times and effort and it kills your brain power. At least it does for me. I’m already stressed and trying to count the calories from food that I was eating (especially when it’s made from scratch) is so much work when someone else can just count for you.

      @@rhizacope8149 I don’t mind tracking. I just put everything into an app and I’m happy with that. The app tracks everything. I just input the info and sometimes put together a list of saved meals that come up again and again. I definitely would hate it if I had to do all the counting without technology though.

    TL;DR:
    The statements Harry have made are based on bold statements, deceit and an overall inability to do thorough research before making this video :)
    1:59 "We're all human, we emotionally eat" that, my friend, is a bold statement to make about "all humans"...
    2:06 "Having zero points foods could cause problems for some people" yeah... I'm pretty sure there's a plan for people who suck at portion control... oh yeah, it's called the green plan (only veg and fruit are zero point foods there, but who legit wants to eat 1k cals of fruit and or veg)
    This statement is more a general one of the fact the "they don't teach you about nutrition lol" argument is nonsense, the whole point of the point system is to make you think about your choices and if what your eating is actually right for you, it's MEANT to make you curious as to why certain foods are worse for you than others and so on.
    It's not WWs fault if the majority of the human race take everything at face value and don't want to understand the reasons behind things.
    2:38 WW ask you these things before putting you onto a plan that is recommended for you
    3:00 "What happens when you stop following it?" Oh, I dunno, maybe keep eating the way you have been during the time you've been "following it"
    3:43 There is nothing inherently wrong with this mindset
    4:36 "I've got a little analogy to explain that" That couldn't have been a more fear-mongering analogy if you tried, good job
    7:25 You SAY I had to think of a pink Heffalump to "not think about it" but all I was thinking then was how irritating you're being
    8:12 Willpower doesn't last long because of idiots who claim it doesn't... If you hear the same wrong information time and time again you start to believe it
    9:23 You mention "If only 1% of people succeed" yeah... fair enough... If ONLY 1% of people did succeed that'd be a valid point, but that's not the statistic so why are you bringing it up?
    9:55 "When they "finish the diet""... Ugh... You know even if you stop using the app/website the information on what foods you can eat stays with you right? If people are going back to eating how they were initially that's on them, not WW
    10:06 "Restricting themselves" Oh great... I might have missed a bit where you mentioned this already, but since I caught it here let me say this, WW isn't about restricting yourself, it's about accepting there are limitations on how much of something you can eat healthily...

  • @westinbye
    @westinbye 3 года назад +3

    Interesting, Harry seems smart good advice, it does not seem like he used WW much. I would say it does focused on positive langue and flexibility and most of the things he says. You can eat chocolate but better to focus on a salad. If you have a day where you are out that does not put you off your plann you can just use more of your week points.

  • @kevinhamidi142
    @kevinhamidi142 4 года назад +4

    Love this breakdown! Definitely agree with the problem behind meal plans such as WW. There's a major lack of education around how to be flexible on your diet and follow something that is truly sustainable and sets you up for long term success. Not to mention the rigid and strict "black and white" mindset you touched on.
