- Catching three massive fish like this doesn’t happen every day. Conditions seemed just about perfect for the big fish to come out and play and we sure did capitalize on it. But again I know I’ve mentioned this before so I apologize for repeating myself…. BUT.. Missouri wild trout are not know to get all that big. A 12” fish is a dandy and anything over is a trophy. So having three fish well over that on one outing is nothing short of incredible. You fellow Missouri anglers know what I mean.

Really ENJOY your productions, Mister Mike. Please continue as they have been most helpful & inspiring for those who can't wait.
Look forward to more on nymphing & cold weather techniques. Have wasted too much time fishing drys at wrong time. ....like money I wasted on everything other than beer, fishing and the outdoors !
Thank you so much John! Father Winter is upon us! Nymphs are now king!
Great video. Little Piney is my favorite. I’ve always fished downstream from Lane Spring. I always thought the stream between the bridge and Lane spring was kind of slack water. You’ve proven there to be some beautiful water and nice fish. I will try that section next time I go. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! Upstream is killer! be careful of the private property past the bridge!
Love the video's! As a St. Louis Native its soo nice to see someone fishing in Missouri! I was actually on the current on Monday and managed to catch a PMD hatch and had a great day. Keep it up!
That’s awesome to hear!! PMD hatches absolutely rock! Thank you so much!
Dude! Mike, another beautiful video. I love that you fish Missouri streams. I know you usually fish alone but I would love to fish with you someday. Your knowledge and upbeat attitude will make for a great time. I really enjoy your adventures. Thanks for bringing us along. I know it’s not easy.
Thank you so much Jeffrey! I’m sure we will see each other on the stream one of these days!
@@FLYALLSZN that would be awesome!
Way to start the new year. Gorgeous colored up wild rainbows. So used to catching stocker rainbows here in the northeast that aren't near as vibrant.
Thank you so much Steven! These wild bows get some crazy winter colors going!
Awesome video as always. I can't even imagine the work an organization that goes into each video. Tight Lines brother....
Capturing these memories barely feels like work! Especially when the fish are munching down!
love this channel and your sceneries,,keep it up
Thank you so much Tim! Will do!
....forgot, Mike, ......excellent sound track choice. Adds to calming solitude.
WOW!!! Those were some bruisers!!! LP!!! Great video as always!!! Dig that energy!!! Always makes me want to go fishing. Especially a MO video. Loved the bridge action. I plan to finally float the LP this year. A resolution. Thanks man!!!
That would be such a fun float trip! You could cover some seriously fishy water!
Love everyone of your videos. I just had my knee scoped so I’m binge watching.. looking forward to my next trip. Once again be safe and thanks for the content
I am so sorry to hear that! I hope it heals ASAP so you can get back out there and kick ass!
Good stuff man. Those were some very decent rainbows for sure. Any trout I can catch of roughly that size is big enough for me and always up for a good fight. Loved the parr marks on the smaller fish!
Thank you so much!! Those parr marks are the best!
I've never fished upstream from there. Had a productive trip downstream last week.
It’s a lot of fun! I would highly recommend it! Downstream kicks ass too
Epic day on some amazing water.
It was incredible!
you have inspired me to become a fly fisherman, for years I have used lures etc for trout, bass, and other species. I know it will be challenging but I want to learn. I wish you had a fly fishing school :)
That is so awesome to hear Gregory! It’s such a fun thing to learn!
You definitely make it look easy and effortless. I admire it, because to do that WHILE FILMING is so difficult. Boatloads of credit. What is the orange attachment to chest. I assume a GPS for if lost/went south. Lastly, what lens do you have on that Canon. As you can imagine I have a personal curiosity there. Tight lines Mike!
Thank you so much!! That’s a Garmin inreach, it’s an insurance policy that never leaves my side. It’s an SOS/ satellite messenger.
I have the 18-150 zoom lens on this rig! It kicks ass! Tight lines to you too!
That's the hole I caught my biggest piney trout in. Right at 18 inches this past summer.
For wild trout in Missouri it doesn’t get much better than that!
Dude awesome job.
70 degrees in December and 3 massive Missouri trout.. kind of hard to believe
Enjoyed the cinematography. Live in Columbia, MO and need to get down to the Piney! Never see you in a boat?
Thank you so much Richard! The piney is so good! Probably my favorite in the state!
Another good video!
Thank you so much!
I've fished that bridge spot a couple of times. Caught a decent one there 12" and saw the big ones I thought, just never caught them. I used to laugh at the 20" minimum but there are a few in there that big now.
I’m hitting the driftless this Saturday. I’m like a kid on Christmas Eve. It’s been too long!
I am so envious! Bundle up and catch some butter browns for me!
@@FLYALLSZN Hell yeah man. I consider myself one of those OG subs you're always referring to. Missing your driftless videos but your new adventures are just as entertaining. I actually just booked a trip to go out to Wyoming this June. It'll be my first western trout excursion -- absolutely CANNOT WAIT.
January seems crazy early for rainbows spawning, when is it normally out there? Great vid Mike!
As long as I’ve been fishing them they’re a late winter spawn! Pre spawn and post spawn will go from November to February!
Those bows have quite a bit of cutt in them!
You’d think so with all the crazy markings! But those are just MO wild bows
Drool cup was the name of that last fish!
I know of some great places that you can can go for some big rainbow and brownies not too far away for you
By "those dems on that fish", are you referring to the adipose fin? I'm sorry but some of your lingo I have trouble following. I'm new to fly fishing and I am not very up on the lingo. Thanks!
I am so sorry haha I go off on some silly stuff sometimes! "Dims" as in dimensions! That bow was long and wide!
@@FLYALLSZN Thanks Man!
Are you coming to idaho anytime soon?
If things keep going the direction I want.. August in Idaho
Were tou fiahing at in sw mo
Beautiful fish. BTW most of those I saw were female's and you kept referring to them as a male. Short round snot is generally a female.
