I did the trip 10 years ago from England to Dakar and that's by far my most memorable road trip yet.Morocco is beautiful and the western Sahara with the nomads was just amazing. I met few truck/ Lorry drivers from Spain and Morocco and they were very helpful on tips about the road. Mauritania was a nightmare, over 30 checkpoints between the border after no man land to Nouatchokk and every police officer was asking for gift and handing me fake penalties charges without any reason which obviously I refused to pay. I was held for a day as I refused to pay on the first checkpoint an equivalent of 5 euros for no reason valable. Their harshness was so apparent...I will do it again on my next year holidays Feb 2021 and just hope that i won't have any major issues in Mauritania. My favourite place in Morocco (excluding the Sahara) was Al Jadida which I discovered by pure chance after missing the exit to Marrakech...Lovely experience.

Amazing piece of engineering. Because there is no moisture on the desert, so there is no rust, so an old Mercedes will never die... unless the fuel is out.

Black people from the current Mali, Mauritania and Senegal played a very important role in Moroccan History. With the black guard, they were so powerfull, they decided of Kings.

Western Sahara is a nation that doesn't belong to Morocco. Morocco illegally occupies it since 1976. Sahrawis (the people of Western Sahara) have an independence movement called POLISARIO which struggles and claims the independence of Western Sahara. Western Sahara is a full-fledged member of the African Union and many nations from all around the world recognize Western Sahara. The United Nations considers it to be a "Non-Self-Governing Territory" and there is a UN mission (MINURSO) tasked with the organization of an independence referendum in Western Sahara, but because of Morocco's opposition to this referendum, the kingdom keeps putting all sorts of hurdles to prevent it from taking place. The game is not over and Western Sahara will be independent.

we face the same issues, all around the world, weather we cross international borders , states, provinces, district lines, , im from canada , and have faced , issues with in my country , from province to province,(dot check points stopping only out of province trucks) and when crossing and del or pick up in the usa, from custom agents, with power trips, delaying you because they can , for no legal reason , to customers expecting you to drive 30 hr in a span of 10 hr, and then freaking out because your not there yet, because you have to book off by law, to customers not wanting the freight yet, expecting you to wait days too store it for them , till they are ready to except , it , or have a sale for it, or thinking by redirecting you to their customer should be included in the original shipping cost, like they are doing you a favor by getting their product off your truck ,and on to their customers dock ,,,, like the extra mileage , and time , does not exist , i can relate , with their issues, at least here , not every trip goes that bad, but then again i work for a major transportation system , so am luckier then others, bad weather can be a big issue too , ,,, at least , it gave a true view to what all drivers face , again and again , around the world, and to think , most of what we consume as humans gets hauled by trucks, , us drivers get treated like were the problems or should take the blame , , sad !!!

Sad indeed. While I don't like to be hindered by them while driving on the road I do understand they are doing an essential job and respect them for it as long as they drive carefully and not speed up. They are big, heavy and difficult to drive so a mishap with any other vehicle will always end up badly for the other party.
