Loved your tier list. I think you had the same top 3 as myself though Sleep of Reason would try to pry it's way in there. I get so pumped up when people choose Nothing as their fav. The first time I played the reissue Blue cover, I literally laughed at how cool that opening riff is. I still listen to it like once a week. Catch 33 used to be my fav!! But wow, it has fallen down on the list since I got into their newer stuff. Nothing has such a cool sound. I like how a lot of the songs have a similar tone. It's almost as if they explored their own style in such a way that they got everything out of it that they could at that time. An obvious A plus record and even the "least good" track on the album is probably still a banger. Would have loved one more song even.
Recently binged through their discography. I love a lot of them my least favorite it either Contradiction Collapse or Catch 33. My favorites are Obzen, Koloss, and Violent Sleep of Reason. I haven’t been listening too long, but they are a great band. Even their worst is still pretty good

Chaosphere is my #1, or “I” but that is more of an EP. This is because I played the shit out of it when it came out in High School. The new album is really good and is up in the top 4 for me.
Great list, got to see Meshuggah on Ozzfest 2002 right as “Nothing” was releasing. A band has never won me over live, like they did, without having any previous relationship with their music.

Koloss is the only record that i think is truly perfect by them. Really dont have any criticisms by it. Still might not be their best but it is the most well executed imo. By far the best paced and every song is as good as the next.
Hm. Maybe its just my honey moon phase ... or maybe some of you are way too conservative. But for me right now IMMUTABLE is their most consistent record ever. "Ligature Marks", "Phantoms" & "God He Sees in Mirrors" belong to their best tracks ever, hands down, they are fucking brutal. 9. Contradiction Collapse 8. Catch 33 7. Future Breed Machine 6. @@pairofjeansreviews2034 no obzen is better. Meshugga is hard to rank. I put destroy erase improve, chaoasphere , the violent sleep of reason and immutable all so close. Early stuff was more aggressive and cutting but later stuff is lower and chunky and has alot 9f sludge metal like riffs.
9. Catch 33: Not band by any means but not great either. I find large parts of this album boring and while it has some great riffs as a full package it just falls flat for me. 8. Contradictions Collapse: I like this album allot but to me it doesn't sound like Meshuggah yet. It has the ingredients but it sounds more like a technical thrash album and if I wanted that, I'd listen to other bands who I think did it better. 7. Destroy Erase Improve: Much better! That classic sound is there with the riffs, weird drumming and it's even got some grove. I don't like the production though. 6. The Violent Sleep of Reason: Great stuff, it's got everything that makes this band great and I love that songs were essentially recorded live rather than just recording each part separate then copy and pasting after. And Clockworks is top 5 Meshuggah songs for me. 5. Immutable: This album did not disappoint me in the slightest. Iv listened to it every day since it's release. So many bangers on here with my favourite being The Abysmal Eye and God He Sees in Mirrors. My only critic is the length. Over an hour of intense music is a bit much for my ageing ears to take. 4. Koloss: So underrated! Every song on here is great. I think this is also their most groovy album which is great to listen to while driving my car. Demiurge is my 2nd favourite Meshuggah song but all these songs are great. Not a singe dud! 3. Chaosphere: So f ing intense! It's thrashy but still got the grove. I love the production and you can tell that everyone involved gave it their all. My favourite song on here is Corridor of Chameleons. 2. Nothing: This and nb 1 are interchangeable but as of this moment this is my 2nd. Straws Pulled At Random is my favourite Meshuggah song as it starts off being so intense and then goes to that weird hypnotic outro. But every track is a banger! I also prefer the remix version (sacrilege I know) but the guitars sound so much beefier on it. It's also very catchy and atmospheric at the same time. 1. Obzen: This is the album that got me into the band. I listened to bleed and then bought the CD. This is everything I love about Meshuggah. Every song is heavy, catchy, groovy, hypnotic and no song is longer than it needs to be. It's perfect from start to finish!
Immutable is such a letdown for me, I still don't want to believe it. Mid-tempo, uninspired, forced (the polyrythm doesn't sound all that great here) riffs played on the same exact deep guitar sound. Nothing fun, nothing new. Liked the first 2 singles, but the whole thing is bad.
