    How did you get the edges so neat when you removed the masking tape? Did you heat it? Thank you. Your work is incredible!

      I was referring to the paint layer that covers the edges and dries like that.

      Thank you so much! I didn't do anything to the tape; I use "frog tape" it comes in green and yellow. The green is similar to the blue painter's tape and the yellow is supposed to be for more delicate surfaces. I normally would use the green one but was out of it at the time. All I do to the the tape is make sure it's on really nice by pressing it with my fingers. I also make sure my surface is clean of dust and debree before I put it on. I hope that helps! 😊

      @TheScarletSorceress respectfully, not at all lol what is the process? I'd imagine the edges would break off or still be messy. Do you use a blade or anything? Will you make a video showing that process? The actual removal of the tape. I'd love to see. These boxes are to die for. So beautiful!

      @@Resinating Oh I see. No I didn't use a blade, just removed the tape like I did on the rest of the box but slow and easy. If you do it when the paint has just become dry to the touch but not cured yet it comes off very easy and leaves a clean line. I will make sure I show that in the next box making video, I see it cuts off a bit early at the tape removal in this one. Thank you for the compliments! 🙂

    Beautiful! Thank you for sharing your technique. I have a question. I've painted boxes, and sometimes the lid wants to stick together after it's closed. I'll paint, and use sealer over the paint. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent this? Thanks! Again, lovely work.

    • @TheScarletSorceress
      @TheScarletSorceress  6 дней назад

      @@chicgeekery Thank you! I’ve had that happen too. I find that letting the sealer/varnish dry for 24 to 48 hours minimum before closing it at all helps some. Another thing that could help, and I have not tried this yet; a friend suggested running a finger on those edges with super thin layer of vaseline on it, and then wiping it with a dry towel.

    How do you prepare the wood?

    • @TheScarletSorceress
      @TheScarletSorceress  9 дней назад

      In general, first lightly sand the whole thing, then seal with clear wood sealer and wait 24 hours for it to dry fully, otherwise it may warp from the water in the paints. For this one I used two layers of MixWax polycrylic wood sealer for the top where I poured the paint. For the rest of it I stained it first, and then antiqued, and lastly sealed with Liquitex varnish.

    Great project, but I can not stand videos that are " how to " and the creator just lays bad music over the video, instead of talking and telling " how to "
    Beautiful boxes tho !!

    • @TheScarletSorceress
      @TheScarletSorceress  9 дней назад

      Thank you! Turns out this is not my favorite video style either and have since changed it to where I talk and explain things. Music tastes are subjective though; I don't think it's that bad. 😄
