    • Peanut Ball Positionin...
I'm back to demonstrate my favorite strategic positions for labor, and these are especially important for those of you that plan for an epidural!! If you don't have an epidural you can still do these as restful positions, but you're likely going to want to be upright. These positions will help your labor go faster, help the baby rotate through your pelvis, help you L&D nurses and doulas know how to help her labor move forward and her cervix to dilate. I show you positions for early labor, active labor, transitions, laboring down and for malpositioned (acynclitic/posterior) labor patterns.
Let's remember, the BIGGEST thing that makes a difference is the position changes themselves! Don't stress about it! When in doubt, throw a peanut ball between your/her legs and move! Motion is lotion!

Very helpful to me as a new L&D Nurse! None of the nurses I work with have shown any different positioning other than just the basic peanut ball between the knees. They don’t even discuss different sized peanut balls. I didn’t know they existed or that we had anything other than the yellow (small one) in our department.

I went into labor like 3 hours after watching part one. As soon as I got to the room I asked for a peanut ball. It was amazing even not seeing part 2. My labor progressed to 9 cm within 3 hours. Unfortunately I still had to have a c section but the peanut ball got us there way faster. In the end I still got my perfect angel. Thank you Sarah for all you do!

@@humanbeing3946 My pelvis is too small. I suspect if I tried another position it could have worked eventually but in the end we had to do what was right for the baby.

Hey Sarah.. this is Soumya ...
you are putting some great show with so much simplicity. I’m not expecting at the moment but want to know how much does it really pain during labor. As in the end all my friends ended up having a C-Section.
I see some videos where many ladies did it so wonderfully without crying in pain but some do push a lot harder that it becomes visible on their face.
Could you put a video per your real experience , how does it like for new moms????
    Love 💓

Sarah! Thank you for these videos! I am 37 weeks and am wondering if you have any insight on red raspberry leaf tea, midwives brew and other things to naturally induce labor. I know you just did that one about dates with your sister and I loved it! My midwife said theres lots of good stuff in dates and told me to go ahead and do so if I pleased. Just wondering about the other things you hear about!

Thank you for this! ❤ 😊 going to use my 2 new peanut balls in labor. I got the chirp brand from Amazon it came with a smaller black one and a large mint colored one. I'm 1 inch shorter than you but I don't have long legs Like you lol so ima have to take both and figure out what one will work with my legs in labor. Thank you for the pillow tip.

Great video Sara!! Lol would’ve loved to use these positions but I had my baby super fast this time so didn’t really get to do anything like this. I was 8 centimeters when I ended up going to the hospital so I’m so excited to say she was born around 2 hours later lol so I ended up going to the hospital just in time! Went overdue again but I got my second vbac!:)

Stay active during pregnancy and calm during labor. Meaning don't wear yourself out and get rest while you can. Thats what my midwife told me and it made sens

During my first labor, I got an epidural and the nurse set me up on a peanut ball. She had a set position sequence that seemed to be rotating my pelvis in a specific way. She rotated me every 30 minutes or so. By the last position I was complete and ready to push. Any idea what that sequence could be?? I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Last time I was at L&D they didn’t know and couldn’t find their peanut ball position chart.

Just rewatched this and noticed you said you shouldn't be upright for more than 30-40 minutes as it may cause cervical swelling. Is this just active labour or just when pushing or all the time? How does it work with water births when the woman can't lie down at all? Thanks xx

How do you know if the baby is twisted? Is it because labour has slowed? If you don't know, do you just keep switching positions?

I told my doctor I didn’t want to push on my back and my OB said he’s not able to grab or catch a baby in another position and bc I’m a type 1 dm, he kept saying if the shoulders are stuck or the baby is in distress it takes too much time to have me turn and lay down again and I might squish baby . He said I can labor in any position I wanted though . I felt so frustrated though bc I do not want to push the baby out on my back I wanted to bc on my knees but after watching this I assumed side lying can be a good option for me too though?

I’m so afraid of the pain of giving birth. I wish I was not, but I’m so afraid. I’m afraid I won’t handle the pain because I have a very low pain tolerance. I have called an ambulance twice because of menstrual cramps. 😥
