The fun thing is, Erik could kill Raoul at any moment, but he literally plays with him here.Ramin is SO amusing here, so evil and smug, in a great way. He can go from strangling, Raoul to patting him on the back. This is my FAV part in the whole show! His smirk and laugh is Great!
I love that Ramin makes the Phantom a human being. He isn't a caricature of the character which is so easy to do. He's a real person with real goals and real problems.
OKAY I FOUND YOU ON A VIDEO WHERE RAMIN GETS ALMOST NAKED THE ONE FOR WEST END BARES AND THEN I REMEMBER FINDNING YOU HERE I THINK WE ARE MEANT TO BE BEST FRIENDS TBH
Sorry for anyone who loves Ben more, but Ramin's acting is flawless. The body language is better, like the choking and the laughing (which gave me chills), as is his speaking voice. Ben makes Erik seem so inhuman, where Ramin gives him the love and desperation the play deserves. Both are excellent singers
OH I agree wholeheartedly. I feel like Ben does a good job with the deep brooding voice, but as for acting, my friends and I have decided he can walk across the stage well and that's it. Ramin is a great actor, as well as a wonderful singer.
ya know, idk even know if phantom would have been that pissed if Raoul hadn't mistreated her...now he's pissed cuz the love of his life is being mistreated
100%. Some would disagree, but I didn't like the mains for the Australian productions almost at all because I'd listened to this soundtrack first. Im very emotionally attached to Ramin's and Sierra's take. And their voices because I cantttt 😭💕
2019 comment here. The other dude, Joseph is his first name, do not remember the last, his voice as Raoul is really good. I mean, he was able to be heard over Ramin's powerful voice, which is hard. So mad respect Jo
Like. the spotlight hitting his pale face makes it look as if the mask is there, but I assure you it isn't. They changed it to have him wearing it in the Australian version though.
Ramin is lovely in this! Well, as always as Phantom. He makes him more human and is really wrapping Raoul around his finger and makes him doubt himself, deliberately makes him feel powerful and then snatches it away in an instance.
I've seen plenty of Phantoms but Ramin is by far the best. His acting and singing is flawless. Ben makes the phantom seem evil and inhuman. Ramin shows that he's just a disfigured man. PS the pat on the back at the end is my favorite thing ever!
Except for when he chokes Christine? Who he suspects is the mother of his child? Ben's character didn't do that. He was warm towards his son while Ramin's phantom was cold to him after his mother just died. Just sayin'. I do like Ramin, he's great in his way but so is Ben.
@@kroosstacie That was only the blocking. If Ramin were still part of the show when those changes were made, his Phantom wouldn't have choked her either. However I like both his and Ben's individual takes on the character on the whole.
i agree with all of you ramin's acting and singing is amazing hands down, i just wish that he was in the aussie version , and don't kill me but the story was better put together and it flowed more better then the London one. no if you take the very first three songs from the London version and put them together with the aussie one version i think you would have one hell of a show , but i understand that the musical had to fit under a perfect time frame, but if they did that and had Ramin play the phantom , you would have a amazing show . but both versions are great but i like the aussie one for the story and the London one for Ramin.
Just showed my best friends the Australian LND and had to come back and watch this one. Will forever love how they aren't afraid to show his deformities and Ramin as the Phantom will always be my favorite. The blocking and emotion in this show is so much better than the Australian one; you can see that in this song alone. Seriously, why didn't they record this one?
I hate what's happened to Raoul in LND. I feel more pity for him than most in this show. Let's be honest Christine probably loved Erik all through their marriage and Raoul probably knew that. I'd probably be a mean drunk too if I was a second choice.
Say what you want with Ramin and Ben's voices. Ben might win that fight but I do honestly think that Ramin wins the acting in LND. Just like in POTO, it's so clear that Ramin's Erik is toying with them. Toying, charming and has that humanity in his Erik. Ben's Erik is strong and more confident, but with ramin, you can still see some of the Erik from 10 years ago.
I love Ramin's portrayal of the Phantom because when I watched Ben Lewis sing in the Australian version at some points I was thinking like Dude are you going to die or something? But the reason I like Ramin playing the Phantom, he puts a lot of emotion into his work and Sierra did a phenomenal job of playing Christine because Emmy Rossum is an amazing singer but not an actress for POTO.
Australian is far more intimidating than London. I think Ben and Anna suits mature and older Phantom and Christine and Ramin and Sierra are more to the younger selves.
Phantom seems to stay away from Raoul. Raoul seems to be chasing him... I think it should be opposite...Phantom should be threatening him, while Raoul is scared of the Phantom...However, I'm happy to see that the Phantom is still stronger than Raoul... This performance is amazing!
I like this interpretation of The Phantom, actually, because there are so many souls in his character: The evil one, the good one, the one that wants to kill Raoul and the one that envy him and that feels insicure for his face. And so he moves constantly, for me that gives more the idea of a sociopath :)
Mind you, Raoul's drunk. Erik already knows he can Best Raoul physically, but is trying to 'behave' until Raoul really goes for it, then he's pretty much "Screw it!" *pins the Fop*
I got to see the show with Ramin and Sierra . The mask wasn't on. In fact, Erik is the bartender during 'Why does she love me?' While raoul talked with meg, Erik wiped off the makeup.
Australian version and london version's both good and they're both very different. I like the flaw of the Australian show better but the phantom's better in london.
+Scott Hamp I think it's mainly for the shock value. Yeah Raouls seen his face before but not for 10 years. I think it was just mainly to get the upper hand quickly in the situation have Raoul off balance.
In the Australian version of this scene, the Phantom is very commanding, and intimidating and, his movements are slow and minimal, while Raoul flies around in a tizzy compared to him....but in this version, the Phantom is the one in a flurry of activity, and always backing away from Raoul. (?) Aussie cast wins.
I saw it a totally different way. The way they're kind of circling each other like predators is super in character for the Phantom. Not to mention Raoul is wasted, which Aussie version doesn't even consider
Yeah, that makes sense...I haven't watched the Aussie one in ages but if I remember, the Phantom was very predatory-he was definitely circling a drunk Raoul-just in a much more cool, calm, collected, icy way. Which to me is a little scarier and more intimidating than the way Ramin does it. I see what you mean though-they are both good! :)
You also have to remember that The Aussie cast was being filmed. Everything changes when you've got cameras recording a staged show. Blocking, lyrics, sets, costumes, wigs, etc., change when you've got eyes that close to the actors and the stage.
Cara The Owl ........ he is not wearing his mask in this scene.... if you stop it at 0:59 you can clearly see that there is no mask... just Ramin's phantomized face... but no mask
I like Ramin but his acting is at times a bit arrogant which possibly works for this particular scene but not for everything. His hand movements are too showman like.
“I’ve bested him before!”
Sure you did.....when you nearly got yourself swinging from a rope in the depths of an opera house.
The fun thing is, Erik could kill Raoul at any moment, but he literally plays with him here.Ramin is SO amusing here, so evil and smug, in a great way. He can go from strangling, Raoul to patting him on the back. This is my FAV part in the whole show! His smirk and laugh is Great!

lovahnotafightah - yes, that's why people love him and root for him.
Ben plays a better phantom, Ramin plays a better Erik
@@blah7983 Ramin plays a better Phantom and Erik.
Was anyone else incredibly amused when the Phantom patted Raoul's back near the end of the video?
Totally! Brilliant move. Shows dominance, confidence, and some humor

Ramin's hands deserve an Oscar
Raoul: "If he ever had the courage to meet me face to face, man to man-"
Me: "Why so silent, good messieur?" 😏
I feel like Ramin's spastic movements add to the character a lot.
I actually love that the audience laughs when Raoul turns around and sees Erik. Idk why. I just do.
I love the look the Phantom gives Raoul when he turns around after saying "I'm not afraid of him!" Hmm, is someone lying Vicomte?
im-so-2460-done He lied when he said he bested him before so.....
No joke
I think Ramin make Erik too human.
Galiya Bikchentaeva How so?
Ani Seiler you've said perfectly. Ben is so creepy!
OH I agree wholeheartedly. I feel like Ben does a good job with the deep brooding voice, but as for acting, my friends and I have decided he can walk across the stage well and that's it. Ramin is a great actor, as well as a wonderful singer.
Raoul tried to punch Eric
Eric doges
Eric chokes raoul
Raoul is basically dying
Eric pats him on the back and casually walks off

Saw this July 2010! Man, this was the best part. Him appearing with his face on display. So bad ass!
What do you mean his face on display? He's wearing his mask
+Owlswag C he's actually not! I saw this live :)
Like. the spotlight hitting his pale face makes it look as if the mask is there, but I assure you it isn't. They changed it to have him wearing it in the Australian version though.
Ashley u r so lucky!! How did they act out BAMS there were so many changes to that scene. I've heard after changes they made the scene prett sexy

Totally beats the Aussie cast.
AmyNikita except for madame giry TBH
Nnyl Newark And meg. Meg and Giry were perfection in the Aussie cast.
Keep wondering why she's the only one with a French accent.
I wish I could be as nonchalant as the phantom. He's being insulted and laughing about it
I've seen plenty of Phantoms but Ramin is by far the best. His acting and singing is flawless. Ben makes the phantom seem evil and inhuman. Ramin shows that he's just a disfigured man. PS the pat on the back at the end is my favorite thing ever!

No hard feelings for the people who like Ben Lewis
О! О! как разошлись мальчики девочку не поделили! может придёте к согласию?
забавная перепалка Рауля и Эрика один муж другой любовник делят одну женщину
Do they use a different Raoul in LND??
is there a full slime tutorial for this?
was he wearing his mask there?
No that's why Raoul keeps insulting him
Paty Rengifo yes he was.
No, he is not wearing the mask, otherwise you would not see his entire jaw moving every time the right side of his face is to the camera
I got to see the show with Ramin and Sierra . The mask wasn't on. In fact, Erik is the bartender during 'Why does she love me?' While raoul talked with meg, Erik wiped off the makeup.
Рауль мне больше нравится чем Эрик Рауль борется за свою жену а Эрик мастер дико смеяться в лицо юноше
вскоре Эрик выводит виконта из себя и тот пристукнет его
is Erik wear his mask? i can not see because of the light
призрак любит издеваться над бедным Раулем но и виконт норовит подколоть соперника
Australian version and london version's both good and they're both very different. I like the flaw of the Australian show better but the phantom's better in london.
Рауль пропустил то что его жена изменила ему с Призраком
эй! эй! детки не ссорьтесь!
Does Ramin have a mask on? I can't tell
скорее всего Эрик любит издеваться над бедным виконтом хорошо что Кристина их не слышит
Who’s playing Raoul here?
Who's Raoul here?
Рауль любит жену Эрик издевается да отвали ты от Рауля. больное место Эрик у Рауля нашёл это сын.
