omg. i was there for every single second of this show. I think I understand why Craig left when he did. but, my god, there was nothing else like it back then, and there never will be in the future.
I still would consider him 2nd because of Carson's sheer output , history and ability to improv. I would love to see him one day do a weird little show with Steven Wright and Ricky Gervais. It would probably break the internet
This is a song about Turkey, written by two Canadians, performed by a Scot on an American TV show. Seems like the ultimate compliment to ethnic diversity to me :-)
This is what makes me a proud member of the Robot Skeleton Army! No one but Craig is this inventive and just outright hilarious. He doesn't need fancy edited videos, or a flashy set, just some music, a scarf, and several puppets!
I could never watch the show during its run when it aired but I am gobbling up RUclips clips lately and discovering that late night TV in the 2000s was something extraordinary because of Ferguson and his team. Just this number alone is the zenith of entertainment, and you know that it was carefully choreographed, memorized, and rehearsed. Have to say, too, that the fez dude is rockin' it, and obviously having one helluva blast doing this song. It's a delight getting acquainted with this show ... Craig, Secretariat, Geoff, the puppets, Alfredo Sauce and the Shy Fellas-- pure silly bliss. Geoff is one of the best and funniest creations to ever grace the small screen. Big props to Josh for giving that skeleton robot hilarious improvised humor, fantastic voices and remote control movements; it takes talent to do it all at the same time.
My absolute favorite opening number! Craig doing the "Ahhhh!" in the back, then the pause, then the "Ahhh!" again totally cracks me up! The whole thing is hilarious, but that part really gets me every time. XD
this show will go down in cbs history as "having the weirdest shit by a foreign guy on late nite ever" I love craig and his puppets then and not so much now lol
I first heard this song in an episode of the 90s cartoon series "Tiny Toon Adventures". It was one where they made some music videos of sorts to some classic songs such as this.
Me too! Also Particle Man. I was 9 but I wrote down the name They Might Be Giants and whatever lyrics I could remember from PM so that I could look for them later.
Craig Ferguson is awesome. His mannerisms alone in this classic make me laugh like crazy. Ilike the naked guy with the fez. That's nobody's business but the Turks!! Makes it sound so wildly unconnected. Unconnectedness is hilarious.
He is amazing. I don't even watch American Idol but the interview with Simon Cowell was priceless, because I believe Simon actually enjoyed the mental challenge. Simon is not used to that. It is another priceless piece that can't be missed, check it out.
Craig really rocks that violin. I watched this several times before it registered you aren't actually hearing him play it, he's doing "air violin" to the They Might be Giants soundtrack.
I'm going to watch this until my eyes dry up and fall out of my head, landing like a pair of raisins onto my keyboard... Then, I'll watch it one more time.
Awesome. This is a great voice over a great song. Craig Ferguson and They Might Be Giants are apparently awesome together... Thank you. My wife, my kids and I all appreciate the effort!
Hi kkoorjee - Moxy Fruvous may have recorded this song. However, the version here that Craig is using is definitely by They Might Be Giants. And the original song is half a century old - first recorded in 1953 - and was written by a couple of guys named Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon.
omg I was simply looking for the original video because I love the song, but couldn't remember the vid from my youth. Now I don't even care because this is hilarious! Craig is great and I'm glad he's over here in the USA to share his antics with us. TY karatekid for posting this!
@ArizonaKnightWolf quite simple :) Constantinople was the western (Roman) spelling. The formal Turkish spelling was Kostantiniyye . When the Turkish Republic was formed, they decided to opt for a variation of the Greek phrase "eis tin polin" meaning "in the city" (as it was commonly refered to as 'the city') Hence "İstanbul", or "the city". Ottoman Turkish included the "İ" as a formality when refering to a place, or title.
There will never be a late night host as good as Craig.
Colbert is getting there. Him singing Sinatra was an instant classic 😂
@ he's not funny though and all political too. Lame
He’s the best!

Carson but Craig is definitely second without a doubt
omg. i was there for every single second of this show. I think I understand why Craig left when he did. but, my god, there was nothing else like it back then, and there never will be in the future.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again...best show in late night. Man i wish he was still on the air. God, how I miss his show.
Everyone now really sucks possibly except Conan. It's become so dry and political.
I still would consider him 2nd because of Carson's sheer output , history and ability to improv. I would love to see him one day do a weird little show with Steven Wright and Ricky Gervais. It would probably break the internet
7 years later this comment is more true than ever. Balls.
With modern PC bullcrap he will never return...
agreed. this was the last of the good ones.... anymore i just stopped watching. its all crap now
This is a song about Turkey, written by two Canadians, performed by a Scot on an American TV show. Seems like the ultimate compliment to ethnic diversity to me :-)
🏅
Written by Jimmy Kennedy (Irish) and Pat Simon (New Yorker).
@@jb888888888 Hahaha, New Yorker is its own ethnicity at this point.
You’re totally right. Also? Animal puppets. The puppets are even diverse. A shark, a camel, and a prehistoric reptile. 😆
Now seen by...M83...38S...MemphiS...Lil Blu...
I am convinced that when Craig does these fantastic, musical openings, He is channeling the spirit of Ernie Kovacs
come back every once in a while when i need a chuckle
i remember watching this live as a 14 year old and just being stunned
Craig and his merry band of goofballs are the best. There will be nothing like them again
Oh my... God bless everybody who puts Craig Ferguson clips on RUclips. These little opening songs are so funny.
Long live They Might Be Giants!
I miss Craig Ferguson.
They made the original version, but TMBG's version was better on every level.
I think the Severe Tire Damage, or Live In Australia versions are the best ones.
I miss Craig too. And TMBG. Saw them twice back in the late 80s and early 90s.
You won't find anything else like this on television. Kudos to Craig!

Nice comment! Bonus points for knowing Josh Robert Thompson plays Geoff!
@@BoomShard17 :)
You are seeing genius right there. Just the kind of thing the networks hate
My absolute favorite opening number! Craig doing the "Ahhhh!" in the back, then the pause, then the "Ahhh!" again totally cracks me up! The whole thing is hilarious, but that part really gets me every time. XD
I love how The Craig Ferguson Show is basically one very short step up from a late-night community access tv show.
A momenet in time of the history of TV
As a turk, this is funny as hell lol ı love him
Any time I hear this song this is all I think of. Miss Craig! And how bout accordion guy KILLIN the whole time!
Great! Never tire of watching this. Love the show and the puppets!
What do you get when you combine Craig Ferguson and They Might Be Giants? Gold! Pure GOLD!
this show will go down in
cbs history as "having the weirdest shit by a foreign guy on late nite ever" I love craig and his puppets then and not so much now lol

Puppets make everything better.
George Baum They Might Be Giants make everything better too.
That is true. xD
Especially oral 😀🙉🏃🏃😂😂
No matter how many times I have watched this (and that's alot...), it is still so funny.
Seriously, who else dares to do something like this??
Craig's the best!!!
Love from Turkey! It was a fun, stereotypical, almost caricature-like performance. I'm a long time fan of Craig Ferguson. I wish he was back.
Craig got out of TV at the right time. This would have the PC crowd losing their minds today, but it's a great little skit.
This is the best of all.
Just the sheer randomness of it and Chris' Turkish headgear hahaha
Now THIS is entertainment!
Damn I miss this show! Late night hasn’t been the same.🥺
Craig Ferguson is awesome. His mannerisms alone in this classic make me laugh like crazy. Ilike the naked guy with the fez. That's nobody's business but the Turks!! Makes it sound so wildly unconnected. Unconnectedness is hilarious.

I have to look that up. Could you imagine Craig on the judge on the show then I might actually watch it
All these people arguing about history. This is a funny video, go have a war someplace where happiness isn't present.
Yes please
I miss this show soooo much! ❤️
Craig really rocks that violin. I watched this several times before it registered you aren't actually hearing him play it, he's doing "air violin" to the They Might be Giants soundtrack.
Keep all of these musical openings in my favorites. Whenever I'm feeling blue I pull them up and listen :o)
Two of my favorite things combined. When I saw this on TV, I was like, "YES!" :D
As a Turk, I don't find it offensive at all. I mean sure, it's culturally inaccurate but who cares? It's comedy for christ's sake!
No one gives a fuck about any of this stupid shit. It's ALL about Craig Ferguson and They Might Be Giants!!!!!!!!!!
Hells bells....this makes me want to be a Turk
Mehmet's sake!
@@timothy9434 thats funny... are you from turkey? If you're not thats a fucking amazing joke man..very clever.
@@weswolever7477 well ... you're very welcome sir.
Best thing Ive seen all week! Sweet zombie jesus that was funny!
I'm going to watch this until my eyes dry up and fall out of my head, landing like a pair of raisins onto my keyboard... Then, I'll watch it one more time.
BEST OPEN EVER!
Damn, I miss Ferguson.
I watched this when it aired and it introduced me to They Might Be Giants. This is one of the funniest segments of all time.
Haha Craig Ferguson is a class act, and a great choice of song, too!
ruclips.net/video/XEmp3ZuvZfk/видео.html
that's so unbelievable. wow. i can't wait to watch his show tonight and i don't care how many hours of sleep i miss
how can anyone not like this , comedy, song and dance , and a banging tune - its like oldschool showbiz
Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. With Craig and crew lip synching and dancing to this tune, what was old is new again. Craig makes me happy.
Watching this never fails to cheer me up.
I miss Craig. :( At least he still does some of his "bits" on his Join or die show, that's baddass if you haven't seen it. Pure Craig :)
Damn, I miss this show.
I LOVE it when Craig does the musical intros. The best part of the show!!!!!
Oh, wow, I love him to bits he's brilliant. Haha no one else could pull this off without looking anything less than crazy.
Craig was the only late night talk show host I watched since Johnny Carson.
This song randomly popped in my head. Seconds later, this video showed up in my recommendations. The RUclips algorithm can read my mind!!!
Awesome.
This is a great voice over a great song.
Craig Ferguson and They Might Be Giants are apparently awesome together...
Thank you. My wife, my kids and I all appreciate the effort!
I had no idea he ever did this!
This is one of my favorite TMBG songs! Absolutely hilarious! 😂
I love 1:15 when he's on his desk just HOLLERING. lol!!
LOL. That is awesome!! TMBG FTW!
Thank Christ for Craig. He's a friggin' gift.
My favorite late night talk show performance of all time. Craig Ferguson is the best.
So i was watching a showw.... and this randomly popped into my head... so now im watching this to confirm itl never leave my head -_-
LOL Craig Ferguson is Craig Ferguson = one and only awesome man
thank you karatekid017
A masterpiece!
Craig Ferguson is by far the funniest man on television. He puts all the other talk show hosts to shame!
Okay, this just made my day. Just saw TMBG for the 7th time this weekend, and I'm seeing Craig in July. Yay!
I was supposed to photograph them last year unfortunately 2020 dumpster fire great reset stupidity happened
Love the guy in the fez.
Late night shows just ain't the same greatness anymore, man! 😅
I now am a fan of Craig Ferguson for life after seeing this.
I dreamed about this last night so I had to watch today lol. One of my all-time favorite Craig clips!!! XD
Doug, i love the 1x1 series, and this is a great carve!!
Definitely one of my favorite Craig songs. :) LOVE IT!
Honestly didn’t know I needed this and MAN did I need it 😂❤️
Love the camel puppet LOL Segments like this always remind me of _The Muppet Show_ back in the 80s.
OMG! love this, love Ferguson!!
Well either way, I find this incredibly entertaining and can't stop watching.
I thought I was the only one screaming with laughter at 2:06.... The drumbeat in background with the bobs and spins...
HIlarious!
This is the funniest opening of them ALL! Thanks for posting.

this show is awsome.......................
Song by: They Might Be Giants. The BEST interpretation EVER by far. This is fab-o madness!
Not a Giants tune-written by Jimmy Kennedy and Nat Simon,in 1953 Originally recorded by The Four Lads in 54
craig ferguson is a magical person.
I heard this song on raising hope and I couldn't get it out of my head
Thanks a lot for uploading this, was sad day when CBS made the vid private.
I miss this show so bad
omfg best opening sequence ever!
Oh Craig I love you....
For a long time I thought the song was written by TMBG. I learned that it was a cover when I got the original 45 of the Fifties group.
