- 2014 Dodge Durango Citadel with K&N Cold Air Intake and Magnaflow Exhaust.
This video is a comparison of the Magnaflow and Stock exhaust on my vehicle. It is intended to help the community with its research using one camera to capture all video from the same source the audio will be consistent and you will be able to get an idea what the difference would be with this system installed on your vehicle.
I have spliced up the video so the different sections are compared next to each other. Start, normal acceleration (City Driving) and then Highway driving.
For a cut and copy listen to the start comparison I believe it is at about 2:30 after I have shown both starts.
I hope this is of some use to the community.

Now That is a good video comparison! Thank you very much for taking your time to make this video!!
This is how a comparison should be done!
Excellent video Ron, I have a 2011 Durango Citadel with K&N installed, and always wondered what Magnaflows would sound like, I have Magnaflows on my 03 Corvette they don't sound as aggressive as some might think, just enough to make an audible difference. Thanks for the video.
You bet, thanks for the comments.
A couple of guys have asked about the drone with the MF. The vehicle is definitely louder, so it all varies. At normal Canadian highway speeds say up to about 110kmh there is not a lot of drone... but grade of road can cause some of course. On the freeway speeds of say 140kmh the drone gets louder and is noticeable but it is still comfortable to have a discussion or listen to music. It is easy to mute the drone with the tunes. I will try to do a drone specific video and put it up in time...
It’s so quite !
Great video! Thx! Would You recommend 2014 Durango hemi as a family SUV? Any issues with drivetrain, etc?
If everyone used their headphone, it has so much bass so it’s sounds nice af.
You dont hear mich till you go on the highway. Sounds good nonetheless, my 07 durango rt has straight pipe from cats and its always loud and loud in a good way.
What was the part number for the magnaflow exhaust system?
Nice video, will the Dodge dealers install a system like this when purchasing a new Durango and will it affect the warranty?
Hey, Thanks... my dealership installed both the K&N and the Exhaust. It is my understanding that my warranty is ok.... I asked them direct point questions about it and was comfortable but you need to ask them directly for your vehicle.
Ron Hayes thanks.
Do we need to tune engine after we install Magnaflow Cat-Back ?
Nope, bolt on and go.
Hey folks, sorry for the delay in response...
Anthony, the video was taken with the new Hero5 Session suction cup mounted to the bottom of the sunroof. The Aircon was only on 1 maybe 2 at the max as I did turn it down... This was the first video with the camera and maybe I could of changed the settings to reduce the sounds of airflow but.... as I listen to it again after your comments it does kind of sound "windy" but I think it is just the camera sensitivity ramping up or something. Basically the settings are the same... so what you hear with stock is directly represented as to what you would hear with the MF. I attempted to show the Drone on the highway by turning off the Econ switch but after checking it again I am not sure if it is very well shown. I will try to make a separate video of just the MF for Drone comparison. In general to answer your question though of the Drone... since the entire exhaust system is amplified then so are the effects of the drone, you cant really get away from it. As I was waiting for the exhaust to arrive and had spent time on google I noticed myself noticing the drone of the stock more.... only in that I was aware of it. You are more aware of it with the MF but honestly if you were not aware of what you were hearing you would not be concerned about it... it sounds like the car over geared while stepping on the gas before it gears down.... then it activates all 8 and then will gear down.... anyway, standby for another video.
Ron Hayes got a question did you do any changes to the pipes that come from the engine or did you just install the magnaflows at the end
did these add any HP to vehicle?
Well understand that any HP increase is not measured officially it is all my opinion based on driving the vehicle and the seat of the pants aspect... but yes I believe there is some increase, my fuel use has gone up that is for sure ;)
But besides any potential difference on the gas pedal I noticed a much more pronounced difference with the brake pedal and gearing down. When you are on the brakes with the stock exhaust I found that as it geared down it could at times be quite abrupt, where as now with the new system it has less compression braking so there is more active braking on the wheels (noticeable by feel) and of course the gearing down profile is much more relaxed.
Hope that helps
why is the 2 buttons flashing , the eco button and another....
What's the part number for the kn pre filter
Hey, KN PN 57-1563
Sound the same. Both quiet.
I installed this exhaust on my Durango, V8 sound is what wanted but exhaust sound frequency is hard to register for GoPro microphone or Android & IOS phone need better equipment. I needed a lot of time and effort to adjust the exhaust to the same level, the installation is not easy, above a speed of 140 km/ h in 8th gear you can hear a continuous noise that wasn't present in the original exhaust, when you downshift to 7th gear there is silence, will try to eliminate it. Better sound at the expense of comfort
Was this with windows open or ac on while driving sounds kind of windy
Sounds great though... How is drone at highway speed with cruise control activated and in 4 cylinder mode
which magnaflow system is that
Is magnaflow the quietest system for this setup?
djerickd Hey, simply... I have no idea. But I would think the OEM would be the quietest. Most people I have spoken to, and myself included, are not looking at aftermarket exhaust systems in order to be quiet. 😉
Ron Hayes was the stock exhaust straight thru? Or is the OEM muffler a labyrinth for the air to flow thru? I think the magnaflows have that offset inlet and outlets that end up cancelling the noise and drone yet still offer maximum flow.
djerickd Right I see what you are getting at... I think you are right, less restrictive airflow so a perf bonus but it is configured to be less noise and drone than some of the other aftermarket systems.
Sounds better stock
Magnaflows on these fail to impress me. It's not like the challenger or charger where they really scream.
Sounds great. A bit too boomy, and with resonance at times. Even the stock system sounds great with you get on it... so... stock system for me.
