Thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally, a CLEAR directional video on how to put this thing on...lol. Very good job to you, sir! I really appreciate it. Took me no time to install. Thanks to you!
I installed mine thanks to you. I have 21 durango base rt and this intake definitely helped add some pick up and sound since base rt sounds like a prius stock. Im still waiting on my borla to let her breath.
Awesome! I'd still recommend having a backup filter cone to have least amount of time out of commission when it's time to clean in 10k miles are so. Cool that you have Borla on too!
I sold mine for my 2019 durango RT, I got now 2022 durango RT plus, I have the afepower oil filter, no problem. It kept coming out then the heat made it very difficult to put back.
I was starting to go down this nickel and fine bolt on mod . I ordered a 6.4 intake manifold swap kit, Cai, headers, msd coils, tuner and was going to have jay or hemi fever send a tune...the list of parts plus a tune should bring and AWD Durango to about 315-320 hp amd 350 torque and improve mid band bu 40-50+ torque...sounds great right ? But I had a about $4500 into that list and a ripp charger is $5800 for the base satin finish kit and will bring the Durango awd to 420-450 wheel hp on an other wise stock engine set on low boost there's room fir more power if modding. I placed all my orders Saturday when these places were closed and cancelled them Sunday after running the numbers and realizing I'd be wasting money in the wrong direction hopefully they don't ship and I dont get dinged for restocking once these are taken care of I'm ordering the charger...I already have the sound with cat back awe track exhaust the charger is easier on my back to install than headers ...which im thinking will end up on here . When you add up the cost of all the nickel and dime mods a ripp or pro charger is right there close to that cost and het 3x the power from it .
@@carsick309 did them anyway but added nitrous. I have the 65rfe since it's a 2013 it's low miles so I'll run it for a couple years and swap these parts onto a grand Cherokee or Durango with an 8spd I don't want to swap transmissions it's a waste since you can easily buy one from 14 to current with it . I did put a full billet valve body and new solenoid block in the 65rfe to help keep it alive . If I do a JGC 5.7 or another Durango I'll just regear it with 3.45 behind the 8spd swap on all my parts and use the nitrous for the fun stuff .
Really? Must know more. Just sat outside in a monsoon for a day. There looks to be a drain/intake(?) type opening at bottom too. Silicone the window or put water sock on filter element? Or both?
@@carsick309 I read about it on another tread and tested before I installed. It leaks . Just silicone around clear plastic window and it should be fine
Great heads up, thank you! In spirit of being difficult though, the leakage should not be impactful if filter is oiled, right? Would be worse if dry for sure but oil repels water to an extent. Or is the leaking real bad? Not being a smarta$ $, just looking to help community.
I know this video is old now but it's odd - it appears you got the upgraded AFE CAI. Because that rubber coupler has those 2 ridges which is in the new design. BUT... you have the same-looking long tube that I had which is too short. I had the original CAI and it did not fit and I had to use the offset coupler. But AFE is so cool that they sent me the updated long tube (which does NOT have the metal plate) and coupler with hardware for free!
no risk with regards to cooling what so ever with that opening closed ... many 5.7 engines have full solid hoods ............ lol ... this is just an 'srt' optic given for the 5.7 to make it look 'cool'/fast' .... if cooling is your concern start by taking the engine cover off
@legionar89 at this point, no. The configuration is discontinued already and the 5.7 is likely next. So I'll just stick with the mods on mine and see what happens.
I have a k&n it’s pretty nice and you can hear the air, but do you recommend the afe with the cover on the filter and don’t you think it will keep heat in it ??
Totally understand what you mean. Unless the intake cone sits some place very low behind wheel well, there will always be some of the loss of full potential because of hot engine air. The closed box wouldn't be any worse than factory. The filter surface area is bigger and aFe box also has another air opening all the way at bottom. I guess we'll see.🤷
@@carsick309stated you went to 411 which sounds like 310-315 at the wheels if an AWD 340 if rwd. Which sounds a bit fat since everyone is doing 6.4 intake manifold swap and exhaust and custom tunes and getting 315-320 so just a CAI and tune seems like you should be less . That said $3500 is really not that far from a ripp charger 😅
@@carsick309 Could be wrong every ride and tuner is different maybe you did get that 50 gain off the CAI and tune . I've seen RUclips channels with guys who have put $4500-5k into bolt ons and tuning to gain 50hp which I don't get since a ripp charger is about $6k for a satin finish full kit and gives 120-150hp at the wheels after a solid tune running low boost on stock engine. I was all set ordering parts Saturday and got to almost $4500 and then ran the numbers again and realized that I was fucking up 😆

Just ridiculous they couldn’t correct this issue. Wish they made a carbon fiber one, like they do for the Hellcat
CF would've been awesome for sure. I would pay more to have that.
I recommend you silicone around the clear section on the outside of the filter box. Definitely not waterproofed .

Grocery Getter Racing. He used to be on IG and may still be running a website.
