      @@carsick309 that sounds so easy to deal with, I saw your other comment that you haven’t had any issues with them, so that’s hella reassuring. This might be a dumb question, but the only reason I’ve been stalling on the covers is that if they will intervene with the brake assist on my car... do you think they will?

      @@patriciaarteaga8221 Doesn't matter if it's these or MGPs. No interference with assist. I have rear brake sensors and those kick brake action in without any issue. Covers are just a cosmetic external piece. If standard braking works so will assisted.

    You can put custom logos or text on the MGPs too. And they are built bullet proof.

    • @carsick309
      @carsick309  3 года назад

      Agreed. I saw they offer that as well. It comes down to appearance preferences of the shape of the cover I think. CCI just released a couple of other options for variety but I agree that MGP's consistency with theirs is what drives the known quality. They are more costly though.

I also recommend Jeep Forum btw (again don't hv time I wish I had). A little puffery is acceptable. My last Cherokee I was in for 15years! Shouldn't have sold it. Where I live, calipers can freeze, brake dust is prob, as is mud. Sweet option. Keep em coming. We do love our Jeeps - dunno w/new Fiat ownership what will happen. YOU GUYS ARE GOING CRAZY OVER THIS, BOTH MGP AND CCI NO MATTER WHAT EVERYONE WHO IS IN THE GAME KNOW JUST BY LOOKING THAT THEY ARE JUST CALIPER COVERS AND SO WHAT, LORD HAVE MERCY, NOT EVERYONE WANTS BREMBO BRAKES ESPECIALLY ON A REGULAR MODIFIED DAILY ( FAMILY MAYBE) DRIVER, THEY BOTH LOOK NICE, MY BROTHER HAS A HONDA CIVIC SPORT HATCHBACK MAUNAL CHARCOAL GREY WITH BLACK BBS RS CLASSIC RIMS AND HE PUT THE MGP NEON YELLOW ON HIS CAR AND IT LOOKS AWESOME, WITH HONDA PRINTED IT ON THEM IN BLACK AND HE ONLY PAID $109!!! SO THE BOTTOM LINE WITH ME IS IF YOU WANNA SAVE SOME CASH BUY COVERS BUT IF YOU WANNA PAINT YOUR CALIPERS WELL DO THAT ALSO OR JUST GO AND SPEND SOME CASH AND GET COLORED ALREADY PAINTED CALIPERS ( DONT HAVE TO BE BREMBO) UNLESS ITS A REAL FAST CAR THATS EXPENSIVE THEN MAYBE I DONT SUGGEST CALIPER COVERS THATS FOR SURE BUT I KNOW GUYZ WHO HAVE BOUGHT BOTH BRANDS BESIDES MY BROTHER AND THEY ALL LOOK NICE!!! • @carsick309
      @carsick309  3 года назад +1

      This one of differentiators between MGP and CCI. When I was running MGPs no spacers needed on Altitude. It just so happens that I got spacers after that for more aggressive look and stance/stability. So when I went for the CCIs it was not even a thought for me. Plus I was not told I needed them. My spacers are 0.75" manufactured by Bora. At that size you have to deal with not just spacers but having to cut your factory studs (the things you put lug nuts on). Factory are not long enough to take spacers and leave enough thread for lug nut. Ongoing debate about how wide/narrow they can be before you HAVE TO do this.

      That's definitely a differentiator, you are right. CCI has has an "implied" warranty of sorts. If you put them on exactly as they are intended to be then there would be no failure. If there is any failure then you have to prove you didn't screw something up at install which is not likely to be possible. But it's also a much smaller scale shop by comparison so there is always implied risk. No failure in close to a year so far. I still have my MGPs and the point of this whole thing was to just try something different for look purposes. I agree that when it comes to comparing long term manufacturer backing it's apples and oranges.

    • @carsick309
      @carsick309  Год назад

      One thing I can definitely say is to never take car in for brake or service of anything in those areas while the covers are on. Most of them don't know certain nuances tied to proper re-install. And not really their fault since covers are aftermarket, not factory equipment. If you have had rubbing before dealer service, and you believe they were installed correctly originally, I would consider spacers from 2mm up to 5mm depending on your wheel size and offset. They were not needed for Cherokee but I did need to get them for wife's 2017 Ford Edge.

      Could you explain more. I don't know what any of that means@@carsick309

    Absolutely 💯 JUNK. On top of that, your brakes overheat causing premature failure due to overheating.

      Varies by experience I'm sure. 5 cars later has not been the case here.

      @@carsick309 agreed. There is still ample airflow with either cover.

    Are these plastic?

    • @carsick309
      @carsick309  4 года назад +1

      No. They are aluminum. I can see why you might think plastic because of some flex when you hold them and try moving them around. They definitely have some give but there is no visible flexing in driving conditions. Seem to resist heat pretty well because of 2 layers in middle. They also don't have that "plastic look" like the fake Brembos or similar garbage out there.

    In order to align the covers properly on a vehicle's caliper to meet the mounting points you can push or pull the welded arms closer to each other or away from each other as required. Each arm is welded at the front plate but the rest of the arm is free to adjust without snapping. The arms are made of aluminum so they will take a stretch, see image attached for reference, thank you!

    Can you send us a picture that shows the incorrect fitment

      Are they talking about calipers having welded arms? What the heck are those? I don't have anything welded that's for sure.

      Not at all. I have nothing to do with those guys. My car isn't even on their IG or website. I also got no discounts for this. Just thought it would be good to have another video out there.
