    When I was a child, my mother got her first microwave... it was 1970 something. She went to a class at the department store to learn how to use it. Hey Barry, you’re absolutely right: The microwave and your WiFi operate on exactly the same frequency! 2.4GHz. If a tiny proportion of your microwave radiation leaks out (as it would do) then it would interfere with regular WiFi. Try using the 5GHz band on your router, if it’s available (some have two network names you can join)

LOL I've seen that look so many times in your gadget testing videos.
    Ugh - that cake brought back memories. "Mom's" specialty that she sent to every potluck dinner was a storebought Angel food cake (the kind with a hole in the middle), iced with canned cream cheese frosting, then filled the hole with canned fruit filling - cherry or blueberry. She had issues, so it was usually one of us kids who made it, which explains part of my resentment as she took all the credit. My other complaint was that it was so popular at church potluck that we rarely ever got to taste it. It was insanely sweet, but people would skip through the line to the dessert table to get it.

Put it in the microwave at full blast for the exact amount of time listed on the pasta. It will be perfectly al dente with a lot less water. Have fun, Barry. Greetz from a German in Hamburg.

    Barry and the Lewis-niks, I make LOTS of cakes, I had to learn how to make one in the microwave at my mother-in-law's because they don't have an oven. You put the glass in the middle because otherwise the middle would come out raw. My European friends complain that American desserts are much too sweet. Always cut the sugar in half, and pre packaged cake mixes need a bit of sour cream or vinegar or more egg...something to tone down the sugar content. Always TASTE the mix before you mix it with the egg, since I don't care about eating raw eggs (I've consumed at least three a week most of my 70 years) I always taste the mixed batter before I bake it to see how the balance is.
    I would have put the cheese on top for the last 2 minutes only, kindof like you did with the parmesan...the microwave is famous for not cooking uniformly Since the microwave doesn't boil off liquid always use less sauce...or boil down the sauce to get the extra water out.
    Kids tend to like sweeter stuff, I bet they enjoyed the cake (I stopped the video at the lasagna taste test). Ah no kids! You can make a lasagna in a microwave safe dish without sinking the titanic. Thanks Barry this was a hoot. Jim Oaxaca Mexico

    Also, it's cool that the new microwave actually shows the wattage when you adjust the power, rather than just a nebulous power percentage. It's like centigrade or fahrenheit on an oven, making it a lot easier to follow cooking instructions.

    That lasagna recipe is close to the one I've made years ago using a normal plastic storage container. Instant and normal lasagna noodles don't make too much of a difference, nor does cooking them beforehand because the sauce cooks them the entire time. I also subbed frozen meatballs for the ground beef and broke them apart since fresh meat wasn't available at the time.

    I always cook corn on the cob in the microwave. You leave it in the husk and microwave it for a few minutes (4-5?). It would be smoking hot and then you grab it CAREFULLY with some towels and pull the husk and silk off. Perfectly cooked. The hardest part was getting the husk off right away because it was so freaking hot. I always burned my hand trying to snap off the end with the husk.

    Hiya Barry! I'm really not totally convinced on plastic cooking in microwave. I'll cook in pyrex instead, or clay dishes. A lot of the newer coated pans when the coating comes off in your food; your eating dangerous to your health stuff. Now people are eating micro plastics. More then ever I'm asking people to stop using plastic in the microwave until newer research is completed by people not affialiated with production, sales, ectera; of plastics. Lead poisoning was no joke back in the day; neither was asbestos. People were dieing before the truth came out. Barry you are an awesome cook, and you need to really look into what I'm sharing here. I saw my younger brother go from normal kid, to high functioning autism from consuming some lead based paint when we were kids. Thanks for the video!!!

    Funny thing you mention an issue with your wifi - thing is - the frequency that microwaves operate at is roughly in the same as wifi routers (2.5Ghz). Back in the day when I did technical support for my ISP, I recall many calls from customers complaining about wifi issues and most of the time it was when they used their microwaves. I suggested they relocate their wifi router and most of the time that helped. With newer routers also operating in the 5Ghz range, that issue isn't as common. (except for legacy devices)

    I've used it for years. I have the original which was called the Pasta Boat. I love it. Mine came with a rack but not a storage lid. I haven't cooked pasta on the stove for a few years now, because the pasta boat is so simple. The pasta also cooks slightly faster than on the stove because the water reaches boiling faster in the microwave. I've also steamed vegetables and shrimp many times in it using the steamer rack. Works like a charm. I've never actually tried any of the recipes in the booklet other than the two for steaming vegetables or shrimp. I'll have to give some of them meals a try because that lasagna looked pretty good. Also, you can just microwave corn on the cob right on the microwave plate. No gadget needed. if it's still in the husk, microwave for 4 minutes for 1 ear, 4.5 for 2-3 ears, and 5 minute for four ears. Then cut the bottom of the cob off, hold onto the top of the husk with a pot holder, give it a couple shakes over the plate, and the corn will slide right out of the husk. If your corn is husked already, wet a paper towel and wring it out, then cover the corn on the cob entirely with the paper two and cook it as if it was in the husk

    It's likely that your microwave is affecting your wifi and phone signal. Mine does. The frequencies at which they operate tend to conflict with phone and some wifi bands. For Wifi, you'd have to manually set your network to use different channels, and, tbh, I wouldn't touch it: your router should be able to see that a band is having trouble sending and receiving data and switch to another one.

    Microwaves and wifi both make use of 2.4Ghz which is why using the former will interfere with the former, because it basically adds a bunch of noise at those frequencies. You can avoid this by using 5Ghz wifi if it is available on the access point.

  • @Antipilor
    @Antipilor Год назад

    Microwaves use waves at 2.4ghz which is the same as 2.4ghz wireless routers. If your router has a 5ghz band use that cause A: it's faster and B: will interfere less when the microwave is on.
