- Everyone take a big deep breath and enjoy this helpful video on dealing with a bad/failing grade. I hope everyone takes this into consideration when going through college and realize life goes on and that this happens to everyone!
I just want to hug this guy bc that's exactly what I needed to hear.. bc I'm moping around after bombing a test today as I write this and need answers and encouragement I haven't been able to find
Emily Cooperrider - I wish I could give you a hug back! You know, I just got hired at a great job right after graduating recently (I should probs make a video) and my mentor just gave me advice that I wish I was given when I was going thru that stuff in college and it was "Act like a duck and let the things that have happened roll of your back like droplets of water. " That exam is a drop in the bucket of life, so be open to improving and recognizing mistakes, but no point in dwelling on the past as it can't be changed. Stay strong!
I've already started! instead of moping around yesterday I took my dog on a walk and worked all night and contact my professor too. it does feel better!! thanks for the video! it really helped
I have average/bad grades in general but had the easiest exam ever on Monday and I'm going to fail, my friends even messaged me some of the questions that had been in their exam and I got them in mine as well and I was to lazy to check them out before the exam. I'm terrified of everyone thinking I'm stupid as the results are posted for everyone to see. I've been in this anxious state for a week, just waiting for everyone to see how dumb I am :(
You're not dumb. Don't you ever think that
I wish I could have a good outlook but I just sob and have panick attacks... I am a loser and I am stupid.
Me too
same dude

The RUclips algorithm brought me here! I recently graduated with a master's, after my bachelor's and your advice was something I had to eventually learn during my master's. I've had a lot of bad grades on tests etc. during my studying from school to university and your advice sums up best what I should've told myself years ago if I had the chance. The reminder that you're not a bad person because you have a bad grade and that no one talks about bad grades making you feel that you're the only person in the world facing it are so wholesome and should be known to everyone who is studying right now!
I'm not sure you if you'll see this, but this video has a lot of wisdom and I am grateful to find this gem of a video!
This was recommended to me 10 years later. And this is exactly what I needed. No One talks about failure.
Just failed my first college exam… needed this. Did my best and got a bad result, crushed me pretty hard
Thanks man! You make me feel better.
Thanks so much for this video, it really made me feel better. I just came out of an admissions test for interpretation/translation school that's held only once a year.. your video really cheered me up.
Thanks for this video bro, I got my results back today and failed a number of exams I will have to repeat in August, this video has some great advice and has helped me deal with it, hopefully i'll get more information on what went wrong so I can study my hardest and pass them next time.
I just thought I'd let you know that this video of yours prevented me from making the worst mistake of my life! I was doing this course in university that I thought I could do. I was pressuring myself to do well but in fact that pressure was doing the opposite. Ever since I dropped that course (by taking your advice) I was able to freely concentrate on my other courses and I felt so much better too. So thank you :D
I just completed my first year in civil engineering. Results are coming out soon, and I'm feeling really nervous! I feel like I did well, but you can never be certain in university. Thank you for this video, it helped calm me down and learn how to react if I get surprised with a bad grade.
+Faris Al-Amer hello bro am 4th year civil engineering student too bro
***** Yup! Currently in my 3rd year. Thank you for asking. 😊
i am in my first semester in a different country from the one i was born in and i got very close but did not pass my first round...people are saying its normal and just keep studying for the second round is it true?
It's hard failing a test when you're asian, my parents have high expectations of me. But I'll end the cycle once I become a parent. I'm teaching my kids that life goes on.
I hope you are doing okay. Never lose hope. There is hope.
@@beverlybarrera8921 Thank you 😊. I hope you are doing okay too.
It's 2015 and this advice is still relevant. Thanks for this, man.
Ely G it's 2017 now.
IT IS 2022 AND IT IS STILL A PIECE OF AUDITIVE AND MENTAL COMFORT
I find it disconcerting that RUclips chose to recommend this to me right as I’m anxiously awaiting my first Ochem test’s results 😂😭
If I really did fail, his words did calm me down a bit tho - this was rly sweet and helpful ❤️ thanks bro
Thank you for feeling me better/calm,..
I just came to overcome after failing one of my exam ..
Thanks so much for this video man, I really appreciate it, and really needed to see this
Thanks! I was hoping you can talk more about lack/gaining more motivation, because the first few weeks of college I started to get overwhelmed, scared, and worried, I started lacking motivation to care about my grades/classes and wanted to move back home, I was on the verge of dropping out. I think lack of motivation is a huge factor when it comes to first time college students, I even wrote an essay on it lol. But anyways thanks again!
thank you thank you thank you. i didnt even fail. i got 64%. but it was my first exam and i felt like i was REALLY prepared. however, once i sat down to take the exam, i got a little too confident and i rushed through the whole thing. i made silly mistakes. i feel really bummed right now. but this cheered me up. thank you
Thank you! I just took my chem quiz and i know I did really bad. I'm able to drop it but I'm so nervous for the upcoming quizzes and tests! Going to keep a positive mindset thank you again!
I think I failed two of my exams ... one I failed last week because I didn't prepare well enough and the other one I will fail today. It's my first semester, I just can't seem to stop procrastinating when time is short. I need to change this habit so I can perform better next semester. It's already decided, I accepted my fate to fail these two exams. Next semester, I have to do better. I want to make my father, my friends and myself proud.
Thank you very much for this video. This really helped me cope with a few dissapointing grades on my tests. I am dissapointed for not be able to live up to my full expectations but I have learned to take it at a face value. I am not going to let test scores define who I am as a person. I will only learn from it and become a better person.
This quarter was the hardest ever. (I had 12 classes in total) I failed two.. (French and Accounting) but I got extra work from my French teacher and passed. I just felt so pissed with my Accounting teacher not only did he turned in grades a month late but he didn't advise me or told me anything regarding my grades. He's the type of professor that discourages students.. I did my best on my final exam I thought it was enough. I don't think I'll be able to fix it anymore... I'm gonna try and talk to him tomorrow though and ask what went wrong. Thank you. I've been finding words on how to ask my teacher and you gave me ideas. :)
Kaira Villania If there is one thing I have learned from all my experiance, it is that Professors are completely different people in their offices. My big lecture professors seemed stone cold in class, because they need to control the mass amounts of students. When you take the time to visit them in the privacy of their office, they become a lot more understanding and can level with you. Going to speak with them is smart and will undoubtedly help you in some way, shape, or form!
I went yesterday and he didn't give me a chance AND it turns out he also lost my test paper so for my finals he putted 70 on it! But later on we found where my test paper was and I guess my score wasn't enough. Oh well life goes on. I think I'll just take a break from school after this quarter. Thank you so much for your advices! :)
This has helped me a lot, I recently failed an english test; I felt so bad about it as I normally do okay. This has helped me to move past it, thank you!😊
Wow, you are really good at pep talks. I recently depressed on doing poorly on my one of my exams, but this video really created some incentive for me to study harder. Thank you so much for your encouraging talk, this video really made me feel better.
No problem! I just love helping! If you wanna, my earlier vids are about freshman year and getting started. I had some issues and took a video break for half a year or so, but I'm back. Hope they can help you too!
thx a lot for making this vid dude,i feel better now,i'm usually gettting good grades but then i failed one of the subjects i did good on,i keep thinking like its the end of the world but now I will take this failure as a motivation for me
Thank you so much for this video, it really helped me, I have a test tomorrow and I dont understand a thing, I've been working on that all day long but I still don't understand. Thanks you so much!! (sorry for my english, I'm french)
Thank you for this video. You said exactly what I needed to hear.
I'm a physics major... and Oh God! :O I eat humble-pie by the truck-load!! D':
But I'm still hanging in there! :D
I am a physics major too. I don't understand the metaphor, but if it means that you're fucked up.. same here buddy : (
محمد العتيبي It mean's I've experienced a lot of humiliation via failure, disappointment, etc.. lol
I'm a physics major too.. i just had my physics final exam done. I can only solve 2 problems out of 4. I'm gonna fail this course guys. I'm so scared and disappointed
Thank you :) much love, you are an encouragement beyond your own knowledge.
And my problem is: who is that person who can really understands me.
This was very helpful for me since I'm a first time freshman in college, fresh outta high school. Thanks!!

I'm going to Purdue as well this fall, I found your videos are extremely helpful! Which you upload moe
Co1lege I did badly on my first exam on my developmental intermediate math. I’m really crying and upset about it. I’m paying the class out of my pocket and I tried hard to pass it. I just want my mother to see I used the time and passed the class. And become a engineer in the future. Also can you please reply to me? Thank you
Firstly, I would definitely take some of that pressure off of yourself and take stock. Your journey is your journey and there is no time limit on your dreams. I took Calculus 1 twice and Calculus 2 twice in order to achieve the necessary grades to graduate with my Bachelors in Biology. Yes it took me longer, but by adjusting my habits and learning how to approach professors/tutors for help, I reached my goal. Fast forward to now, I work at the No.1 cancer hospital in the country running the office for the premier phase 1 clinical trial practice. The takeaway from all this is that sure you failed the first exam, but this is a kick in the pants to adapt and perform differently on the second exam. Do well because you want to and forget trying to please other people. Please keep me updated!
@@Co1lege thanks dude. After watched this video and reading this. I feel less stressed. Maybe i just didn't work hard enough :)
Can you briefly talk about how you go about your coursework and how you organize your assignments and study times?
Thanks.
I have a feeling that im not going to do well in poly, really need some advise right now on how to move on:(
pls help
Man I hate school it's the only thing that stresses me out. Just got a 62 on a quiz even though I thought I did okay! Stupid TA...Your video made me feel better though thanks :)
This is what I needed, thank you!
Thanks. Really helps since in same situation.
I feel very pressured at times because i'm doing my music production sequencing and I havn't done a gig yet becuase ive got exams to get through and i have that fear of people goiong to keep saying to me when you going to do a gig when you going to do a gig don't know why I put myself through this if you know what I mean
Failed my first organic chemistry test with a 75.5 and ended with an A-
Thanks, dude, this made me feel better.
Very motivational. Thank you.
Good advisor! ,thanks you.
I wish I was smart
Don't be so hard on yourself. For real. You are way smarter than you give yourself credit for and you know that deep down. Sometimes, it seems easier to feel sorry for yourself and then do nothing about it, but that feeling goes away once you know you're exercising your full potential. Don't let one or two or even a few poor grades define you. Overcome and and realize what you can do. Baby steps friend :)
Co1lege thanks man :)
Anytime :) Just make sure you take it one day at a time. When you lay down in your bed tomorrow night, make sure that day was spent usefully which does include fun and relaxation, but feel as if you earned it. If you take it day by day or hour by hour even, its smaller bites to take and wayyyy easier to handle. I believe in you :) I truly do.
Same 😞
Thank you for this!
Boy you are awesome :) just discovered you :D
Thank you very much sir.
THANK YOU.
I would be happy to talk more about this. I can make it my next video topic if you would like. I have the perfect explanation. I will put that out tomorrow if I can, but I'll share some stuff right now. Check your message box...
Thanks man..made me cry man..
Thank you this really helped me
One of my friends is having a meltdown because he has to owe 3000 dollars for failing a class designed to fail him even after studying his class material perfectly. To be honest was hoping for a better way to calm him down through RUclips videos. I feel like he is gonna go ballistic if I show him this.
Thank you for this video :)
I just failed a test and I had worked my hardest...T_T trying to get over it now
I am a junior in highschool, and whenever I hear about college and tests and the word fail, it scares me.
So should I freak out if I fail multiple tests?
Hi Swarmy! First thing you should always do when facing a stressful situation or mindset is to take a nice deep breath. One thing you should never do is "freak out". Freaking out has never been a productive method for anything. High school is designed to prepare students for college, so I would take note of your academic shortcomings now in HS and find ways that work with your learning style to improve so that you are prepared to face them again in college. Setting good habits now that will carry into your college life will be an extremely valuable asset and will put you ahead of a lot of your peers. Hope this helps!!!
Co1lege Thank you very much, I appreciate how people like you take time out of your busy schedules to talk to random strangers on the Internet.
It warms my heart.
And yeah I understand that hs is supposed to prepare me for college, but I honestly don't think it has, 9 th grade was a breeze, 10th was a bigger jump, and 11th was a little bit more rigourous, and I'm on my second semester.
Swarmy Dreams - I like to believe we are all in this together and if we don't support each other in our journeys, we aren't living to our fullest potentials. I wish you the best moving forward and I'm here to chat if you ever need it :)
Co1lege Thanks mate, cheers.
Thank you
great video
You are awesome. Thank you.
Nope missy, you're awesome!

I completely bombed a test and I am trying to accept it. :-(
I failed an ENT exam and now I feel like the dumbest girl in my class.I actually feel like a really dumb girl😢😢😢 I need psychiatric help now😢😢😢😢
Let me start off by saying that seeking therapy is an absolutely acceptable thing. I have gone through therapy to help me process my emotions and understanding how I feel so don't be ashamed if you feel that it is a route you would like to take. You are not the sum of a single exam score. You are a beautiful person with hobbies, friends, family, interests and disinterests. It is your job to recognize your shortcomings and learn from them so they can become strengths. Anyone can do this with some time and patience. You are special and not a single bad score on an exam will change that. You are stronger than you know :)
Man I thought i had it rough because I got a C on my 7th grade history test today but dang these comments are sad
