I use both Eotech’s and Micro T2s. Love them both, and use both for different purposes. Every Christmas I put new batteries in every single optic I own. I think of it as “I’m giving my platforms presents”. That way, regardless of how much use the optics get every year, they always start the new year with a fresh battery. Treat em right, and they’ll take care of ya.
@@Donnydarco100 The lifespan of the battery is up for question after some time, especially if you put in a battery that you might not be 100% on the date of manufacture with.
Man,I said the same thing, and then I by chance came across an eotech. I will never use any other optic of any kind ever again. Every other optic is for sale now all to be replaced in time.
I have an astigmatism and the holographic is so much clearer than a red dot. If I look through my rear peep while looking at the eotech, I can still see the holo is clearer than without the peep sight. Even though the eotech doesn't completely solve my tism, it's so much sharper than the red dot. I hope anyone with glasses reads this if they're between the two
Given the battery life and ease of use, Aimpoint for a defensive weapon. Always ready to go. The better picture window and field of view, not to mention the fact the EOTech has a less than 1 MOA dot, that even under magnification is no bigger than 1 MOA and doesn't cover the target, makes it the better offensive and range weapon. I personally see them as two different tools for two different situations. If something went bump in the night I want an AimPoint. If I'm going out hunting or to the range or in a combat situation I want an EOtech to get on target quick, both close quarters and distance and have a better field of view for situational awareness. The newer eotechs after revision F, have solved most of the problems that plagued them. They're both very reliable now. They both have their strengths and weaknesses pick the right tool for the right job. That's why I own both. My home defense gun is an Aim point pro. My hunting and range gun is an EOTech. They both excel at what they do, but they excel in different areas.
For a SHTF combat gun id want a aimpoint as the EOtech battery life is horribel it would suck having to scavenge for batterys instead of the aimpoint lasting 8 years
@@liltuck737I know this comment is 2 months old, but finding one watch battery every 8 years isn't that big of a deal. Keep an extra battery duct taped to your rail and you're good for another 8 years. Meanwhile, Eotech batteries maybe last a month if you kept it on and ready to go all the time.

This was a solid review. You kept it concise and to the point. Good to see the point of view of an action guy expressed professionally and filmed in this quality. One thing I would say in favor of the Eotech is the 7m meter index it provides at the bottom of the circle which allows the ability for surgical shots at closer ranges without needing mechanical offset. I know eyeball over shoulder moments aren't extremely common, but that is a feature I wish Aimpoint and Trijicon would figure out how to add to their units.
just in case anyone is interested. the CR2032 batteries that most of the red dots use are the same thing that computers use for the CMOS settings, so most electronic stores will have them. We sell them for $3.99, and for a 3-5yr battery life not bad :)
I just love that wide open sight on the holgraphics. The red dot sights are awesome but I find myself battling with that tiny toilet paper tube they have. The eotech and holosun holographic sights are just so much easier to use I think.

From personal experiences, I can attest most EOTECH EXPS series don't typically last more than 100 hours if you primarily shoot in day light. Twice I had to change batteries before a match, but I still prefer them over Aimpoints for 3 Gun.
What brightness setting? The default brightness should last 600 hours unless you're cranking it up because you have trouble seeing it when it's dimmer.
love the giant window on and the eotech setup having a 65moa cirlce and 1 moa dot making it much faster for your eye to pick up and put on a target in cqb. you don't have to search for it like you might have to do with a red dot. plus cost... Wish Aimpoint would drop the price on their optics.
Tremulousnut I had a C-more on my issued CAR-15 wayyyyy back in the day. The old school tubular one mounted on the carry handle. No idea how they are now, just thought I'd share a story 😜

One problem with eotech is I've found eotech is okay with a certain amount of dust under the glass. I thought it was just mine but I checked out a few at the shop, they all had a small amount of dust under the glass.
3:06 I just got a exps 3-0 and on max brightness it’s burning my retinas out of my eyes. I know you made another vid since this one. And my eotech brightness might be due to improvements they’ve made. But I think it’s plenty bright. In fact unbearably bright on max setting even in daylight.
Just got one as well and that max setting is absolutely blinding. I haven't needed to go above the default brightness though, and the almost complete lack of reflections on the glass is huge.
I prefer the protection the Eotech provides. The whole hardhat feature of the case surrounding the optic makes me feel a lot safer when I have to move my weapon around corners and walls. I like knowing it will always work and I don't care about the damn recall I am taking my Eotech to hell and back any day!
One unmentioned advantage of the EOtech.. since this is a holographic sight, it remains the same size when viewed behind a magnifier. The aimpoint dot will get magnified along with your target which can make those longer +200 yard shots a bit more difficult if your target is small. This is one of the reasons why EOtech remains a 3-gun cqb mainstay. Eotechs are fine.. but I'd rather not play around with buttons and worry about batteries if needed in an emergency.
The Eotech should warn you that it's getting low by blinking when turned on I think? So just have extra batteries on hand and don't forget to turn it off when you put it away since the auto shut off is 4 hours minimum.

Romeo5 is such a great budget red dot. I think Aimpoint and Eotech don't use them because it's another thing that *could* go wrong. But still extremely nice.

the problem I face when people do optic reviews is eyesight issues. since I have an astigmatism, aimpoints and traditional red dots are out of the question which leaves my optics pool very limited. even though the battery life on the eotech isn't great, I can actually see the reticle and its crisp which makes it a viable option. prisms, holos, and irons for me I suppose!
What of the new Vortex AMG UH-1? I know it's not really out in the market yet, but does this interest you at all? I keep wondering if it's an improved EOTech, or if it's just for mom's-basement-operators. ...and in that case, tell me why I shouldn't get it. ;)
Same reason for both is reason I went Trijicon overseas, held up great took the beating no battery case or anything to fry out and never needed to worry about batteries one less thing to worry about, granted i had the old style yellow triangle
i don't understand the notion that it is hard to find a cr123. I am hard pressed to think of a common place carrying batteries that doesn't have these. if you are talking about some zombie-fiction, it may be easier to "find" AA batts, but otherwise, both are ubiquitous.
A Video on your opinion of what weapon light to mount from size weight and lumens would be helpful and maybe mounting solutions like pressure switches and locations
I know this video is 5 years old now, but it proves that the Holosun 510 whatever is the best of both worlds. Its got the battery life, auto on/off and clearness of the aim point, but has the reticle, open window of the EOtech.
I use all Eotech but both are outstanding, however, as you said early there are a number of new ones out there that are also outstanding. This may sound strange to some but I wish Eotech would make a reticle with only the 65 MOA hash marked circle and no dot. When I practice shooting at multiple targets quickly I use the circle only, the dot is just in the way. The human eye can locate the center of a circle very quick and easy.
was me spending $1500 on an RCO the right decision? I got it mostly because i was familiar with it from my time with the marine corps. was there a better option?
I'm approaching 70 yo much faster than I want and my eyes aren't what they used to be. I own and use an EOTech, an Aimpoint and an ACOG, I always choose the EOTech for my targets 100 yard and less (home defense). I love my EOTechs 518 and EXPS3-2. Each has their place.

What of the new Vortex AMG UH-1? I know it's not really out in the market yet, but does this interest you at all? I keep wondering if it's an improved EOTech, or if it's just for mom's-basement-operators. ...and in that case, tell me why I shouldn't get it. ;)
It looks cool. Get it. There is no point if you don't look cool.
Dave Smith whoa, never thought of it like that. Duh. Will do.
Dave Smith you right 😂
It's a vortex. That should answer your question for you.
ztunelover well I’ve had some excellent vortex stuff and some “meh” vortex stuff so that doesn’t really answer that question 😂
Are batteries that expensive that it’s a factor in deciding which brand to go with?
No, you get a lifetime supply of batteries for an Eotech for like $50 lol.
>EoTech looks cooler
Aimpoint shills btfo, how will they ever recover
Same reason for both is reason I went Trijicon overseas, held up great took the beating no battery case or anything to fry out and never needed to worry about batteries one less thing to worry about, granted i had the old style yellow triangle
This should be: Aimpoint vs EOTech vs Trijicon
i don't understand the notion that it is hard to find a cr123. I am hard pressed to think of a common place carrying batteries that doesn't have these. if you are talking about some zombie-fiction, it may be easier to "find" AA batts, but otherwise, both are ubiquitous.
+mike force overseas primarily.
It's awesome how you come up with your knowledge quotes lol
We need a video on the tactical reload of toilet paper. The most important thing being paper. Over or under?
I chatted with guys from your dad's company regarding Aimpoint vs Trijicon. I like their points but definately look foward to your's as well.
I'm right there with you, though the same thing. I like just the circle
I would enjoy hearing your take on the "Meprolight Red Dot 1.8 MOA"
was me spending $1500 on an RCO the right decision? I got it mostly because i was familiar with it from my time with the marine corps. was there a better option?
It depends what you're doing but I would use an aim point. If I'm running eotech, I'll always use a magnifier.
Straight Forward Honest Review ...
I agree.. and I Definitely LOOK COOL with BOTH
EOTEC AND MY MICRO AIMPOINT😜
I'm approaching 70 yo much faster than I want and my eyes aren't what they used to be. I own and use an EOTech, an Aimpoint and an ACOG, I always choose the EOTech for my targets 100 yard and less (home defense). I love my EOTechs 518 and EXPS3-2. Each has their place.
Which model of aimpoint and mount is that at 4:02?
I’m loving that set up.
It looks rugged and stout.
Never mind.
I found out about that set up on Mike’s aimpoint vs. trijicon mro video.
Been watching a lot of GT vids lately. Haha
