Knee Friendly Standing Strength Workout for Beginners & Seniors // 30 minute w/ dumbbells

  • Welcome to this full body all standing strength training workout that is great for everyone including active seniors and beginners! There are no squats or lunges in this workout so you don't need to worry about modifying if you have troublesome knees. You may want a chair or nearby wall for balance support on a few of the moves.
    You will love these fresh exercises that are all compound moves meaning we are working more than one body part at a time. This 30 minutes workout packs a lot in including a warm up and cool down. All exercises are set to a timer (45 seconds on, 15 off) so you can go at your own pace. Choose a dumbbell weight that works for you and maybe challenge yourself with a heavier set. Always start with lighter weights if you are unsure, or just starting an exercise program.
    I'm using a set of 5 pound (2.25 Kg) and 8 pound (3.6kg) dumbbells

    I’m 27, 219 pound, and diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism. I heard that strength is one of the best workouts for women with my conditions, and this workout has been great! Love the length of the video and the warmup and cooldown, especially, a lot of workouts on RUclips don’t include those, but they’re super important! Thank you!

    I recently found you on RUclips and am so grateful. I find that your workouts are challenging yet doable for me. I just turned 70 and am hoping to stay active and healthy for the rest of my life and know I will need to be doing strength training, cardio, stretching and walking.     great workout! loved the fact that the workout didn't consist of repetitive lunges and squats. Too hard on the joints now. Gentle workout but I felt like my muscles were working hard. Started over a month ago trying for 3-4 workouts a week. Appreciate the variety of workouts to choose from. Easy to dedicate 30 minutes to my fitness every day. Thank you!

    I'm grateful this workout popped up in my search today. So many senior strength workouts include lunges and squats with no modifications. My knees can no longer handle lunges or squats. This workout was perfect! The right length and the right amount of challenge. This will now be part of my weekly strength-training routine. Thank you!

    Loved this challenging workout and appreciate the no squats and no lunges. I thought the extra time for stretching at the end really helped me to relax after working all of those muscles!❤

      @@hew195050 keep going…I’m 72 and actually very underweight and have a rare spinal disease. Lauren’s workouts are perfect for me and I can still use 8 lb weights. I need to build up strength and gain weight while everyone wants to lose weight🤣.

    Lauren working out with you has been exactly what I needed. I had fallen back to doing almost no exercising at all, with the exception of walking whenever I would go out and do errands. It has been approximately 7 weeks since I came across your videos on RUclips. Thanks again, for all of the wonderful workout videos that you have made, and have taken the time to post here.     There isn’t one video that I don’t like. Loved the changeup of the weights and the combo moves. my mother’s building which is full of seniors uses your videos for their chair yoga. I think it’s great.!!!!

    I love the compound moves. In the moment you don't think you will manage to the end of the 45 seconds but then you remember you are working everything and it pushes you to keep going. I also like being able to switch out the weights in accordance with what my body can 'do' on the day. Your workouts are so calming, even the really tough ones like this.     Loved this! I don't know which I liked better the workout or the stretches! You have the best stretches before and after the workout. Most channels spend very little time on it. It's the FIRST time I've ever been able to lift weights and not have pain in my neck, shoulders and hip flexors-thank you!

    I recently found your RUclips Channel, and as an older women in post menopause, I find the workouts a little challenging, but can do all of the exercises without worry of injury.     Thank you! I love the compound movements! I did the FIRM workouts with weights and compound movements for many years and loved them! I can’t do them now that I am 65 with arthritis and Osteopenia. Please do more of these types of routines. 😊

    Hi Lauren, I found your workouts for seniors the other day and they are so much better than the senior workouts where they talk to us like children. I like the way you challenge us to lift more and develop better balance. I am 76 and have had some major surgeries, but I'm not ready to give up yet!     I agree with the compound moves on this one. I wasn't thinking about if I am almost done, instead, I was thinking of the next move. I liked switching out the weights as well for what my body can handle that day. Thanks Lauren! Oh, BTW it was easy on the knees too

    In comments someone asked, "I'm 66. How do I start?" I replied that RUclips has lots of options for seniors and/or beginners and mentioned this channel as an example. I hope you get some new visitors from that!

    I have recently found you, me as well :-) and I am really grateful for your channel. I've absolutely loved this routine. I appreciate there is no music. Nice and powerful. I am 54, thanks God in good health conditions but I was needing some senior type routines, gentle but functional. Thanks and greetings from Spain.

    10 days ago I worked out with this video & this morning's workout was so much easier. I've found, that I'm less clumsy & have better balance than a few months ago.

    Hi Lauren, I love this routine! Even though I have no trouble getting to the floor, nor with squats, I found this challenging yet also doable. And I look forward to the time I can use heavier weights, it's good to have a goal!

    This was a great full body workout that I appreciated doing in the standing position. My body went through some movements it didn’t know it could do! I feel great!

    This really helps with my overall strength. I believe at my age that I have sarcopenia ( my muscles are obviously smaller and weaker)and I do have (by diagnosis), osteopenia. So this is important to me. Thank you so much. I want to be stronger, maintain mobility and flexibility and improve balance and prevent falls. So thank you many times. Veronica :)
