I remember playing this at my local Pizza Hut! The audio is so nostalgic. One of my favorites of All Time! I always got hung up on the high jump back then. When you had to figure it out on your own with no internet. Thanks for the vid. New Subscriber!
It’s the highly anticipated Track n Field real Arcade 1up. No mod. Remember this was coming out 2 years ago on 1up and everyone blew their loads in excitement over it. Well I have the first one. “Arcade 1up review TnF “ coming soon.
An aluminum pushrod yields the best result, but it isn't without pain on your middle finger where you lever the pushrod. I.E. Left hand pinky and ring on top of the rod then the rod goes over the middle finger and the pointer finger goes on top to balance it then you chop on the right of the rod with your right hand. When the right length is used it is on both outside edges of the buttons. You should be able to max out the speed on every event. Pro tip put a band aid on your middle finger it cuts down on the pain at least a little.
Can’t wait. And well see, that’s the thing… I’d much rather watch good people sharing the cabs they really love. Not these bozos with 20+ cabinets in their “ar-caves” shilling and giving tours ad-nauseam. No way in hell are they playing them all, and with that many, they’re buying them for others to see rather than just having the ones they love. Time Crisis? Fast and Furious? Really? Never heard of them. Maybe because I aged out of arcades by the time they came out. But honestly, just because you’ve “seen” it in an arcade before doesn’t automatically mean it belongs in your home. Not to mention pretending you’ve been waiting so long for that title.
@@Witch_King_of_Angmar oh you didn’t realize they LOVE every single arcade game ever made . AND every single arcade game gives them nostalgia so they love every single one. Or maybe they just have to act like it because they cater to every viewer and realize it’s best for the channel if they act like they love every new release that one company makes. It’s painful to watch.
My personal technique was to wear a sweater or other long sleeves, cover my fingers and slide back and forth over the buttons. Works for the NES version too. Needless to say, it will ruin your favorite sweater and your mom will get mad.
Wow! I knew you’d kill it with the restoration (can you get the molding at a hardware store or do you need to get it custom?). The game play is what blew me away😮 Even your brother will be impressed by the speed on the run! A comb? Seriously never saw that and Rexer gets into the UFO debate to boot. This reminds me of the old days of your channel- great classic game play! I’m impressed and next time I’m on the West Coast no way I’m getting suckered into a challenge of any classic arcade! I’m picking up my chips and walking!
I was like 9 when i first saw this game and there were some fellas older than me but they used the pen and the piano technique hard as hell i was more into moon patrol and this air hockey table
I’m more familiar with the nes version. I remember having epic battles with my friends and family on this. The controls are fairly easy to learn so most people can get into it but it is difficult to master.
you don't have to, but mashing the buttons at the same time will not give you the most effective speed. This is why the pencil and comb trick work so amazingly. It ensures the left right left right. You can test it by hitting both buttons and the same time with the same, then use the comb and tap the one button at the same speed as you tapped both buttons together , and watch what happens.
@@daformayor nice work. Hurdles is tough. Just remember the first hurdle you jump close to it because you’re going slow , the faster you go the further away from the hurdle you have to jump. ! Awesome job. You can get to the hammer throw. Or you could do like me and my brother did back when kids, I would run and he would do the jump.
How far have I made it ? I beat the easy difficulty so far. Need to keep playing !! Remember there are no continues in this game so you start over when you lose.
Dear Rexer, I am confused! Why did Arcade 1up chose you to review their new cabinet? I thought contrary to many, you would have at least revealed that you have signed a NDA with A1up! Please be honest with your audience! Joke apart great job and useful play tricks! Enjoy your cabinet!
They sent it me because I am least knowledgeable about the game , and arcades in itself , therefore, there is no risk for me to say anything negative because I don’t know what “good is”. 😂😂😂. And now you know why they chose me….oh ..and because I’m a huge shill who will do anything and say anything for free product and information.
Ahh yes, the pencil trick. Brings back such good memories
Makes the game a little too easy BUT it doesn’t help with hammer throw or high jump.
All them bruised finger nails.
What a beautiful cabinet Rexer. I really appreciate the game play tips, more people should do that!
Gotta make that quarter last longer !!! 😂😂😂
Amazing restoration rexer! You did a really good job on this cab. Very jealous
More to come Mikey. Going to go over the issues I had with this cab.
Great looking cab Rex, and some really good tips for T&F
Go get ‘em ! You can beat the game now.
Thanks for this video! Watching during a busy day’s lunch break - perfect escapism, nostalga and tips all in one. Will try on my mame cab tonight😬
One of my fav games of all time. ! Thanks for watching.
used to play this with the flatter buttons in NZ, you could rake a 20c piece (same as a quarter) across for huge speed

My pleasure. Thanks for watching !! Kids these days are spoiled with their internet!! 😂
Yeah, I remember using a pencil to make him go faster. Always loved this game.
These games were hard when kids, needed every advantage we could find.
Awesome cab 1 of my favorite when young, I forgot about the 4 players, cab looks great 👍 enjoy
It’s easy to forget that it’s 4 player. The cocktail version is 2 players per side. That one is awesome !
That is an extraordinary looking A1up mod. Well done Rexer!!! Well done.

Worth it just to understand the High Jump. Been trying to figure that one out for like 20 years.
Couldn’t get hi jump for the longest time. And hammer pissed me off because of throwing it into the fence .
Congratulations on the upgrades as it looks top notch. 🏆
It’s a beauty.
Wow. Never knew you didnt have to hit the run buttons on hammer, makes it a little "easier". Thanks for the tips. This is the content we want
You love the 1up content , don’t lie Ed!!! 😂😂😂
This arcade has gone through REXtoration. Looks great
Thank you. I’ll do another video soon with more photos and issues I encountered.
Awesome video. My best times were with a popsicle stick. I’d buy a popsicle on purpose and save the stick to play Track&Field.
@@oldschoolF1 nice. Pencil. Comb , popsicle , all works.
Great job on the cab! Only have NES memories but looks like a great group game(especially with a few beers haha) with lots of replay factor.
Tons of replay and fun. The qualifying times and distances keep going up as you increase difficulty. NES was great too.
@@therexershow I think this game and its sequels might have single handedly created the turbo button controller?!
@@shawnp4155 YES! you are probably right !!
Beautiful cab can’t wait for more in depth video … looks like just the t molding on the right that’s it
Should be out within a week! It is a beautiful cab .

Yes, that middle finger can take a beating.
Nice job on your restoration.
Lovr this game! Thanks for the tips 🕹️
Gold medal restoration! Awesome.
Thank you. I’ll have another video coming out with more.

They eventually put a raised ridge around the buttons to prevent the pencil trick.
I think I remember seeing that. Takes the fun away though 😂😀
My personal technique was to wear a sweater or other long sleeves, cover my fingers and slide back and forth over the buttons. Works for the NES version too. Needless to say, it will ruin your favorite sweater and your mom will get mad.
Definitely that technique works great for the nes. Some people use a pencil with a NES control and go back and forth quickly over the buttons.

I have to turn up the difficulty now. Game is too easy. 😀
I’m NES we used a cassette case and a chapstick lid on our fingertip. We could max out the power!
Necer thought of a chapstick lid. But yeah , it would roll over the buttons nicely.
Wow! Great job! What an awesome game!
It’s fantastic. Wait for the restore video. Will be interesting.
I was like 9 when i first saw this game and there were some fellas older than me but they used the pen and the piano technique hard as hell i was more into moon patrol and this air hockey table
Yeah. Piano technique is super hard. So many games back then. Everyone had their favorite.
@@therexershow yeah i met really great players back then I wonder where they are doing now
great memories of this game.
Me and my brother used to play it all the time. Really awesome memories.
I heard some kids call the thing you hit in the Javelin Throw one of the Lights in the Stadium. It looks like a Bird to me.
I always thought it was a crystal chandelier.
Nice restoration!
Thank you very much. I have another video coming out on this at some point .

The nes version is fantastic. We still play that. I like the archery and clays in that. I need the multi board kit for this one to add games. One day.
Same, NES version with the NES advantage stick and turbo buttons. Made it much easier.
The good old pencil trick. 😁
Works like a charm.
Im still currently play this game religiously, and im 90 percent sure you do not have to alternate between the run buttons

This was gone by the time my arcade days came. I have it at home no with no idea of how to play until this😂
You have a track n field ? Or on a multicade ? Either way , get at it and enjoy !
@@therexershow multicade. I played when I got home and made it up to the hurdles for the first time. And ran into half of them😂 my best score yet tho

Rex. Wasnt there a mole in the sandpit if you hit both buttons as u land?
Yes !! I think it’s the mole that comes up if you get 2 long jumps exactly the same score back to back.
Love it!
