Yea it's like the third-person version of Mirror's Edge. Sure you can kill the bad guys but it's just much easier to swerve around them. Showing that violence doesn't always have to be the answer brings a philosophical undertone to this game that is truly revolutionary.
It totally is. It actually looked it could be a lot of fun. Not this game, but using the same concept. HP is constantly draining, so the player must use their lives wisely. Either to explore, distance, searching for loot, whatever. Players can have limited or limitless amount of lives, based on other factories. I also like the idea of shooting as well, not to fight. But rather for blasting enemies out of your way for a quick exit. Kills can give heath or whatever.
Probably for the same reason that the first level features 8,000,000 enemies, but the 5th level only has 20, and there's no health regen, but dying restores health to full even when you moved up a checkpoint but doesn't restore ammo, even if you didn't move up a checkpoint... That is, because the developers didn't think ANY of this through.
This was made with the UE4 asset pack, I forget the name, but very little has been changed, it has the same ui, menu, models, animations, sound effects, materials etc. The pack itself is actually a really good base to build upon, it's a shame lazy developers don't do the whole 'build upon' part very much and try to make a quick buck. The creator of the asset pack deserves all the profit, not the developer that took it, barely changed it, and resold it.
Ah I see, I wasnt sure. I know all the guns, ui, and the code in general all came from a single pack, because I've seen it before and remember thinking it was a pretty cool pack. I think the developer really misunderstood that these marketplace items are meant to help with rapid prototyping and testing, not intended to be present in the finished product. I keep saying developer even thought the person didn't develop anything... I'm not sure what title to call them by lol
TheMalibuLizard its criminal that people push this shit out while indies work desperately hard to produce good games that get buried by a cataclysm of garbage
I'm hoping that's the case in general. Unity being synonymous with shite hurts an otherwise robust game engine, and puts developers like myself at a disadvantage.
This is literally just an Unreal Engine tutorial that the developer made their own levels with. As a developer myself, it's so disheartening to see this type of shit, man.
As someone who is about to get their bachelor's in game design, I can tell you that if you turned this in as a project you would fail the class it was for.
4:47 "if I just Sprint through we might beat the game" and thats how far you get until the game grows bollocks and goes "get back in there and take this more seriously and if you don't rack up a body count, then no experience points for you."
I feel like if you started the game without guns and it was better optimized with some better level design sprinkled on, this would make a kickass speed running game. Like Call of Duty: Temple Run.
I was wondering why Jim didn't point that out, did he not recognize it, or does such an occurrence not register as noteworthy on this channel, anymore?
As an ousted town mayor, I do not appreciate you making light of my situation. I have to find a new job to support my family. The worms aren't happy either.
11:52 "Pistol Ammo Full" Pistol has infinite ammo. That's how much effort went into this. I sometimes wonder how many of these gems I miss when skimming through longer jimpression videos... Wish we could have like "Gem Highlights" with time markers in descriptions, like that ammo thing :D
A sanitarium is not the same as an asylum. A sanitarium was built/used for tuberculosis patients before they had a cure. They were largely in places with a lot of clean air, as that was one of your better hopes for survival. A lot of sanitariums were abandoned after the cure was discovered. An asylum was for ill or the mentally ill so they could get help/not shame their families. They had poorer conditions than the previous and were closer to prisons than hospitals for a good bit of time. If I'm wrong about anything feel free to correct me. They might even be interchangeable nowadays, but they aren't the same thing. Stupid game.
Ohhh I was just mentioning gameplay wise! But yeah one thing is lacking: a 1 minute soundtrack loop. And now I can't fucking get the track out of my head. DAMN IT.
This is a reskinned example project. Many parts unchanged. I'm personally trying to get the shooter AI to use pathfinding right in my custom levels because I'm still learning. The idea that you can buy this on steam is disgusting because the effort portion of it seems to have been largely ripped.
Hey Jim Sterling, it seems that door at 8:42 looks like a stolen texture/image file for system shock 2. The door has initial VB and even has the circle around it. Must be some HD mod pack he stole the textures from. Similar to this door here: portforward.com/games/walkthroughs/System-Shock-2/System-Shock-2-small-408.jpg
_"It's probably for the best that they stand there and don't notice you, and allow you to get the drop on them - almost all of the time. *Because otherwise they just run at you, in circles, very fast - shooting nonstop.*"_ To be honest, if I was soldier that's exactly what I'd do as well. If they ever decide to re-implement drafting I'll just run about erratically and make gun noises during training exercises.
I love how in those games, a gameplay qualified as "recognizable as such" is an actual compliment. Good for the devs! x) Jokes aside, there too many problems with this game to point them all out. Apart from the obvious ones like nonexistant level design, repetitive enemies, or graphics from two generations ago, why does the weapon with infinite ammo seems like the most powerful one? Why do aiming lasers go through walls? Or why does it cost 14.99? o_*
Okay I seriously think we have a concept for a game here, where the whole idea is you running under heavy fire. I gotta get one of my programming buddies on this!
I've said this before, but I'd LOVE the see a Best Of The Worst style show, except with vidyagames. You, Mr. Vinesauce plus someone else seems like a good starting point...
First game ever that made me sick just watching a video of it in fullscreen... I have no issues with vr or any other title i ever played and that since 1988.Congrats Heavily armed your the 1st game in 29 years i can't even watch!
First thing to try for full screen option is PRESSING ALT + ENTER. Which is windows default for Fullscreen. I don't know if you did this, but there's my free advise of the day. Here you go. The next is considered DLC and costs 20 pence.
I know one town mayor who isn't wanking with a fistful of worms; it's Sadiq Khan. He's currently still ensconced awaiting his choice of lucky lady worthy of receiving his patriotic, right honorable seed for divine-sanctioned consummation of the Saviour of Britain.
"I like music that I enjoy listening to"
-Jim Sterling, 2017
Dirge Novak It's Jim Fucking Sterling Son, get it right!
Don't forget, he likes comfortable seats, too.
Man, Jim is so quirky!
He likes music but hates listening to it.
i'm fairly sure you can plot these russian game releases in terms of how far back the asset packs used to make them were pirated.
This is actually very innovative.
A third-person shooter where the only way to win is NOT TO SHOOT.
Very clever...
/sarcasm
It truly is the next Spec Ops: The Line.
"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."
The only winning move...
...is to open the task manager and end the process tree.
Yea it's like the third-person version of Mirror's Edge. Sure you can kill the bad guys but it's just much easier to swerve around them. Showing that violence doesn't always have to be the answer brings a philosophical undertone to this game that is truly revolutionary.

Why is there ammo pickups for the silenced pistol when it has infinite ammo?
There seem to be pickups for both pistols, even.
Probably for the same reason that the first level features 8,000,000 enemies, but the 5th level only has 20, and there's no health regen, but dying restores health to full even when you moved up a checkpoint but doesn't restore ammo, even if you didn't move up a checkpoint...

The more the merrier.

TheMalibuLizard most of the architecture and textures are ue4 starter content
Ah I see, I wasnt sure. I know all the guns, ui, and the code in general all came from a single pack, because I've seen it before and remember thinking it was a pretty cool pack. I think the developer really misunderstood that these marketplace items are meant to help with rapid prototyping and testing, not intended to be present in the finished product. TheMalibuLizard its criminal that people push this shit out while indies work desperately hard to produce good games that get buried by a cataclysm of garbage
Its the Third Person Shooter Kit. Recognized it immediately.
lol, I thought it looked like it had potential. so yeah, I guess the asset pack has potential then.
Jim's laughter can cure cancer, I swear to god
This is a speed runners wet dream.
3:13 Guys popping out of walls - your sign of quality!
And then there was the enemy at 8:15 having a seizure...
"He's gone, Doctor."
"No. He's just beginning."
The running in this game looks like it would make me sick.
Bruce S. so do you.
Cipher655 Straight up savage.
The new Sonic game looks great
Just WATCHING it is making me feel sick.
It already made me sick.
When develepers realized unity wasnt enough, they all moved to unreal to make shinier turds that we're still shit.
"Surely, if my 'game' doesn't have the Unity splash, Jim Sterling will leave it alone!"
Dale Frewaldt what's worst is that the developer probably thought of that lol
I'm hoping that's the case in general. Unity being synonymous with shite hurts an otherwise robust game engine, and puts developers like myself at a disadvantage.
This is literally just an Unreal Engine tutorial that the developer made their own levels with. As a developer myself, it's so disheartening to see this type of shit, man.
Michael Gagne your a developer? What have you made or are you a developer like I'm a pornstar. IE you aren't.
I will literally never get sick of your incredible titles, Jim. Thank GOD for you.
Andromeda looks really good after the patch...
noelie noelie Too bad. If it wanted the praise it might ought to have, it shouldn't have needed a patch in the first place.
Le nain
that was a joke comparing it to heavily arm.... nevermind
Wow, I completely missed that. Sorry, I'm a sour asshole when it comes to Andromeda.
***** Dont be sour. Be a transsexual space doctor...
Bye bye Andromeda it's never coming back, it got sent back to the hell it came from 👍
temple runner 3d now with guns
this looks like a school project
That's an insult to school projects
jkiler 221 I've seen school projects wayyy better than this shit 😂
Jotaro Kujo i feel a lot better about the shitty platformer i made for an assignment now that i know others are uploading worse online
Maybe an elementary school project.
As someone who is about to get their bachelor's in game design, I can tell you that if you turned this in as a project you would fail the class it was for.
Jim Sterling's Speed Running Strats
I think Jim has a submission for next year's AGDQ, this is some world class speed running tech.
I love how in a game called "Heavily Armed" your best strategy is to *not* use your weapons...
WHO WOULD WIN?
A bunch of angry armed asylum workers | One ( ( S P E E D Y ) ) Boye
"far superior to anything we've seen" - Jim Sterling
I saw the store page for this and immediately thought. " Oh this is gonna be a piece of work... ".
4:47 "if I just Sprint through we might beat the game" and thats how far you get until the game grows bollocks and goes "get back in there and take this more seriously and if you don't rack up a body count, then no experience points for you."
I feel ya on the chair Jim. I had to take a tape measured to the furniture place just to make sure it would fit in my desk. They do not make it easy.
I feel like if you started the game without guns and it was better optimized with some better level design sprinkled on, this would make a kickass speed running game. Like Call of Duty: Temple Run.
This is how every hospital in America is. I'm surprised you didn't know that. Just a non-stop running fire-fight between the patients and staff.
Woah Jim is actually speed running this like a pro, he needs to compete in the Heavily Armed running tournament
That Jim Sterling is a maverick! I hear he eats food that he finds satisfactory!
1:01 isn't that the health pick-up sound from A New Reckoning?
StigMurcielago This whole thing reeks of prefabricated assets and engine-included sound effects.
This is a health pickup from a shooter project that comes with Unreal Engine.
I was actually going to ask if this was yet another Jason Welge title. His asset flips are... something else x_x
Stock Unreal 4 assets so yes!
I was wondering why Jim didn't point that out, did he not recognize it, or does such an occurrence not register as noteworthy on this channel, anymore?
The amount of baddies with laser sights, running around and crouching on the first two levels was INSANE.
As an ousted town mayor, I do not appreciate you making light of my situation. I have to find a new job to support my family. The worms aren't happy either.
I choose to imagine Jim keeps a word document on his computer full of all his starter insults to be sure none are ever repeated.
11:52 "Pistol Ammo Full"
Pistol has infinite ammo. That's how much effort went into this.
I sometimes wonder how many of these gems I miss when skimming through longer jimpression videos... Wish we could have like "Gem Highlights" with time markers in descriptions, like that ammo thing :D

The moment you bounced on that guy's head with your silly silly jump: my day was made.
My genitals are heavily armed.
hentropy do you have heatseeking pube missiles?
Yes but I cannot confirm nor deny whether I have nuclear warheads.
hentropy Can you confirm or deny if you have detachable testicular bombers equipped with chemical weapons?
Heavily armed with std's, I bet :P
This interview is over!
Remember The God's Chain. Jim?
Same dudes.
That third level... Imagine working in that building. People would get lost, die of starvation and be found centuries later by archaeologists.
"Consequently now that the game is better it's less fun"
-Jim Sterling 2017
STOP RUNNING JIM YOUR AUDIENCE IS ABOUT TO THROW UP !!!!
Stop playing early access shooters in general. We already know they're shit.
ZechsMerquise73 What else should he be playing?
4:09 The memories of Slaughtering Grounds begin to surface! Is this finally a successor to that legendary "game"? :O
Not yet, this game lacks one crucial thing to be a true successor to that: A massive temper tantrum followed by a fruitless lawsuit.
Ohhh I was just mentioning gameplay wise! But yeah one thing is lacking: a 1 minute soundtrack loop.
And now I can't fucking get the track out of my head. DAMN IT.
This game would have been beloved in 1996!
"Andrew from 6th period game design is about to make you his bitch"
The enemy placement in this game is so amazing.
"What kind of enemy placement you want fam?"
"You ever poured sprinkles on a tray of cookies?"
"Say no more"
My favourite thing about this was seeing you pass ammo drops for the handgun, the one gun that has infinite ammo.
this new Mass Effect game looks terrible
Nah, it's the Anthem pre-alpha. :D
Pre-alpha, a.k.a. release version by today's industry standards.
Just wait for the day 1 patch, it'll only be 30 GB.
Adam Poole IM ONLY HUMAN AFTER ALL! DON'T PUT THE BLAME ON MEH!
My face is heavily tired
Who needs interesting level designs or even entertaining gameplay when you can just spawn hundreds of enemies???
🎤 " Running in the 90s, that is where I want to be " 🎤
Jim is becoming he first Heavily Armed Speedrunner.
Little arms, much heavy .. Thank you Jim :)
This is a reskinned example project. Many parts unchanged. I'm personally trying to get the shooter AI to use pathfinding right in my custom levels because I'm still learning. The idea that you can buy this on steam is disgusting because the effort portion of it seems to have been largely ripped.

I was thinking that lol
Perhaps SHODAN (Or maybe Xerxes) Took over the building?
_"It's probably for the best that they stand there and don't notice you, and allow you to get the drop on them - almost all of the time. *Because otherwise they just run at you, in circles, very fast - shooting nonstop.*"_
To be honest, if I was soldier that's exactly what I'd do as well. If they ever decide to re-implement drafting I'll just run about erratically and make gun noises during training exercises.
I love that you turned it into Mirror's Dredge.
I found it quite funny that the majority of the ammo pickups were for the weapons with infinite ammo.
Am I getting shot during the cut scene? Yep 82 health LOL this is amazing!
Time to sign up for Awful Games Done Quick, you've got the start of the show right here
"Who you've named Mister X" We know fine well that's not what Jim would call the assailant. =D
"Silenced pistol ammo full" It's infinite....
I love how in those games, a gameplay qualified as "recognizable as such" is an actual compliment. Good for the devs! x)

Good lord, the sick burn in the title was enough to let me know how bad it was.
I love how they couldn't be arsed to add a level-increment script and were like, "fuck it, we'll just have them select the levels manually."
The first level reminds me of a shooter-game you played based in a subway for some reason.
They shoot as good as stormtroopers. pew pew *pew* pew.
This is the same guy who made "the god's chain". No surprise here
HEAVILY ARMED? more like HEAVILY hARMED my bloody eyes...
I'm sure I've heard the *ding ding* sound effect that plays when health is picked up before
comfortable seats, music that i enjoy.. and other stuff.
- Jim Sterling 2017
well what else do you even need
ARGH! TOO BRIGHT!
TOO BRIGHT!
Worth it for Jim's laugh at 5:40
"we're at defcon run" is gonna be my new call to retreat from now on
That jump animation. It's like he's trying so hard to suppress a fart and he's thinking "Squeeze those cheeks! Hnnnnngggggggggghhgg!"
Jim Sterling aces a pacifist run in heavily armed on the first try, thank God for him.
This looks like a pre-alpha build for what could otherwise be a decent game.
Very very very pre-alpha
its a preset to an unreal engine 4 starter pack.
I like the part where he referred to the enemies as "HEAVILY ARMED"
First game ever that made me sick just watching a video of it in fullscreen... I have no issues with vr or any other title i ever played and that since 1988.Congrats Heavily armed your the 1st game in 29 years i can't even watch!
I've only gotten motion sickness from video games once and that was while I was sick but holy shit that running animation made me feel motion sick
Just a load of assets cobbled together, couldn't even scale the humans to the right size
HEAVILY ARMED speedrun (15:26) by Jim Sterling
Everything looks like it's been snowing indoors.
Jim's greetings are more heavily armed with content, than this game itself.
First thing to try for full screen option is PRESSING ALT + ENTER. Which is windows default for Fullscreen.
I don't know if you did this, but there's my free advise of the day. Here you go. The next is considered DLC and costs 20 pence.
Anyone else think of Arrested Development when he said "Mister X?"
I know one town mayor who isn't wanking with a fistful of worms; it's Sadiq Khan. He's currently still ensconced awaiting his choice of lucky lady worthy of receiving his patriotic, right honorable seed for divine-sanctioned consummation of the Saviour of Britain.
Oh gawd the way the screen wobbles and zooms so horrifically when you run.... WHY MY JIMBOY?! WHY?!
its sad, but if i made a game just like this i would actually be proud
Nhaselton well, thats fine, just don't try to sell it for 20 bucks on steam
I'm proud of the last shit I took.
Amnesia, pop culture's most common malady besides ADPS (Acute Dead Parents Syndrome).
The gun sound effects sound very familiar...
Do I smell a Unreal Asseft Flip?
Jim set the world record for doing a fast run through of the game.
Heavily Armed Any% by Jim Sterling. Will we be seeing you at SGDQ in July, Jim?
Jesus Fuck, that shoot out! That Frame Rate! This game physically hurts!
I love the way the video ended.
Jump animation looks like the dude was yogic flying
I think you can now add Professional Speedrunner to your CV now Jim.
"Mister X!"
- Insert obligatory Arrested Development joke here...
I only saw one screenshot for this on steam and I thought you'd cover this for sure.
Unintentional first person endless runner (UFPER). It's a new genre, marvellous
There sure were a lot of ammo pickups for the two flavours of pistol that don't ever run out of ammo.
Game of the year 1993
type "1993 games" on google bro '-'
"Game (1993)
Action, Crime, Drama | 5 February 1993 (India)
A chess champion becomes an underworld don."
Dezzigner
Not even close.
Dezzigner game of the year 1901.
Jonathan Rouse Thats true
jim sterling... ultimate speed runner
At least the asset packs are nice. Whatever they used, the modelers for the packs were talented. XD
The speedrunners are gonna love this one.
