I bought 3 of these and I can confirm this is definitely the best! The quality is amazing, a little deeper colors, excellent resolution and resolution options to use on GSM. The only bad thing is that the image is a little darker on dark areas of the games, in bright areas is beautifully bright, it doesn't make a bad experience because it's not too much (I mean the one on the thumbnail, from Bitfunx, the most cheap)
Just got one of these off of AliExpress for under $5 and was worried that it arrived broken, found out that I just needed to change the display settings in the PS2. Now I've got gorgeous HD PS2 gameplay on my 75" TV! Thanks!
@@ricenbeenz... I've got an early fat PS2, and so far the only things I've got are the HDMI adapter and a universal controller adapter that allows any wireless controller to be synced and used with the PS2. Haven't sprung for the SATA HDD adapter...yet.
Mayflash has a new ps2 hd adapter on Amazon for $16. Works great on my 4k tv. No upscaler simply a converter. And honestly I like the v1 adapter u reviewed better
I love my PS2!! 2 slims and 1 phat that has a SSD installed at the back. PS2 = my favourite gaming console of all time in terms of design, controller and of course the games. Call it Nostalgia but for me I was in my very early adult years when it came out. Childhood nostalgia would be Master System, SNES and a touch of PlayStation. These days its the playing of the games I find most important so the console(s) are away with the games and I emulate on a Ryzen Mini PC with Batocera :)
You need a Hdmi cable that supports 240p. Most ps1 games are 240p and very few ps2 games are 240p. Most hdmi tvs don't support 240p via hdmi. You need an up scaler in the. Cable really it's a matter of getting the tech small enough. I have 2 60gb ps3s they do an OK job for ps1 and ps2.
On a glancing view, V2 colors are of a slightly darker hue. With the PS2's game library, that was console gaming at it's peak... with some caveats* *With Sony (SCE to be precise) being Japanese, there were a good games that were never released outside of the Champion of Asia™
The PS1 can output RGB out @ 240p, so an adapter that can do SCART > Component or HDMI would be better than a random adapter like the orange one pictured here.
Going to check that duo signal support one. This one supports RGB and Component. There is enough to test here. And we can make an update for the best ps2 hdmi cheap solution comparison.
For best image possible Ive just been using an emulator on my pc with an external disc drive to play my ps1/ps2 games. Also can use my ps4 controllers since finding a used original ps2 controller that doesn't break after a week on ebay is near impossible.
I like ps2 because no need to open or work inside the console to mod you only buy the freemcboot memory card and the harddrive with games to play games
The issue with component is it locks out PS1. If I were to get a coponent one i'd have to get out my PS1 as switching cable often probs isn't good for the PS2.
In order to check this properly u need to check with a PS2 over RGB cable connected to a CRT (the rest are no go for noobs only :P ) Then you will see which option is the best in terms of overall picture quality among the HDMI solutions. The main issue of the HDMi solutions (including the Ps2 only HDMI quality one) is that they make the image quite darker although crispy as the RGB+CRT. Moreover what is the reference for the 3004 PS2 Fat not having component out, i have two....no problem at all. I have order the dongle my self...for 5 euros it is worth a try. Component converters are shitty too. Currently only HDMI mod is beauty but costs around 200$. Hope we can have something cheaper along the way. Also you can try the HDMi for N64, not the dongles, the hispeedo one that needs soldering. Thanks
Did you make a mistake labelling the comparisons? You're saying the V2 is more vibrant yet the V1 shows as more vibrant ? Mistake? Also the forced 4:3 is a deal-breaker.
I can't decide whether v1 has extra sharpening or v2 has extra smoothing. In any case v2 seems much softer than v1. Do I understand correctly that neither allows for 16:9? Then component and RGB are the best options it seems
You can do progressive scan however with games that do supert it on the launched ps2 but it was the third generation PS2 that could support 480p natively and those are early 2004 models in late 2003 just saying but the first and second generation PS2 flats which are the 30,000 and 39000 do not support 480p natively but they can do 480p on game's that supports it
The PS2 will always look shit on HD displays. It doesn't matter what adapter you buy, if you compare with it hooked up to a CRT TV through a component video cable, you'll notice that the quality will be ridiculously better. Want the PS2 to look as good as possible? Get a CRT and a component cable.
I didn't know if you would do a review of the new bitfunx hdmi adapter and I ended up buying the mayflash one, I received it today. I hope it has good results because it cost me $20, if it doesn't convince me I will buy this one from bitfunx that you are analyzing, I had been thinking about purchasing it for a while and since I didn't have reliable information I didn't do it. Good video, man.👍
in my experience the best quality in signal you get with a component ypbpr kabel solution 😉, but I am surprised how good the new ps2 to hdmi dongle from Bitfunx works!

I miss tube TV's. Yes they weighed a ton, but they had waaay better sound quality, and nobody had to worry about hooking up retro games.
Just got one of these off of AliExpress for under $5 and was worried that it arrived broken, found out that I just needed to change the display settings in the PS2. Now I've got gorgeous HD PS2 gameplay on my 75" TV! Thanks!
I got a 75" smart TV as well and I'm trying to do the same. Do you have an early generation PS2? What dongles and stuff did you buy for yours?
@@ricenbeenz... I've got an early fat PS2, and so far the only things I've got are the HDMI adapter and a universal controller adapter that allows any wireless controller to be synced and used with the PS2. Haven't sprung for the SATA HDD adapter...yet.
A good cheap RGB upscaler would be a more useful add on for use with the PS1 as unfortunately that signal not component out compatible.
Yeah that yellow one it's a ps1 solution.
However signal is wors then the normal av out 😂😂

Yes, I have it here it's the next one in the line up...
It's going to be crazy with the TOP hdmi dongles for 2024 so many new versions 😂

SSD are nog cheaper then ever so yeah SSD it's awesome to slap it in there.
Comment avez vous installer un SSD dedans? J'ai un vieux HDD en IDE dans ma ps2

Nu nog de Mayflash ... en dan vergelijking ... CRAZY hoeveel opties we hebben !

I have and I love it. I use it to run my ps2 on a projector. Keepem coming and I'll keep watching. Thanks 😊 🙏 😊 🙏 😊 🙏 😊 🙏
Question: would it work if you plug the hdmi to the projector and the optical cable to a sound bar for sound?
I'm sure it would.... My projector transmits Bluetooth so I don't have to.
Thank you for test. I was about to get the yellow one.

I think the PS2 Component cable looks fine on a modern TV with component in without a converter, PS1 however needs a converter
interesting color comparison

PS2 emulation with upscaling .. YES love that.

plug and play indeed ... 🦾🦾

Thanks for the feedback. Would be cool to add that hdmi mod to the collection.
@@WickedGamerCollector super cool, have tried the line doubler...does not worth the money
Did you make a mistake labelling the comparisons? You're saying the V2 is more vibrant yet the V1 shows as more vibrant ? Mistake?

It's possible in the end with the colours the V2 looks more like the component cable.
Where V1 is different 😅
What about switching from gameplay to the in game menus? Resident evil and silent hill and dino crisis all cause issues
Okay so to quickly suvk this up this V2 is better to use right?
I can't decide whether v1 has extra sharpening or v2 has extra smoothing. In any case v2 seems much softer than v1. Do I understand correctly that neither allows for 16:9? Then component and RGB are the best options it seems
Main thing I noticed that the colors of the V2 is alsmost the same with the component cable.
Where V1 looks different when it comes to the colors.
ps2 to hdmi v1 is super dark on my all tvs ...when i play code veronica basicly all game is dark mess
looks like Bitfunx v2 is even darker
THANKS
i really wish you would have shown 240p PS1 output on the PS2 with this adapter. a lot of them get it wrong
Can the bitfunx work for the 30001?
My bitfunx wont fit all the way into the ps2 port..
You can do progressive scan however with games that do supert it on the launched ps2 but it was the third generation PS2 that could support 480p natively and those are early 2004 models in late 2003 just saying but the first and second generation PS2 flats which are the 30,000 and 39000 do not support 480p natively but they can do 480p on game's that supports it
Some games released in 2002 that support 480p: SOCOM U.S NAVY SEALS/ BURNOUT 2/ UFC THROWDOWN/ ATV OFFROAD FURY 2

Want the PS2 to look as good as possible? Get a CRT and a component cable.
I hate these adapters because you can't stand the PS2 up on its side while using them.
How can AllieExpress sell it for $6 and it's $42 on Amazon?
People buy them and sell them for way more money. 😆
Can't be body shaming PS2 in 2023 bro, you looking to get cancel?

Mayflash is the next one in line here.
Have 2 solutions to go and then make my final compare / top5 vid.
The one from Bitfunx I have and I can say it is amazing, has really much quality for the price
in my experience the best quality in signal you get with a component ypbpr kabel solution 😉, but I am surprised how good the new ps2 to hdmi dongle from Bitfunx works!
