Peace Rules ran a helluva race. Fast fractions, passed in the stretch, another looming threat on the outside at his ear and he still came back from between horses. I wouldn't say poor Funny Cide either. He was such an "underdog" from birth, a NY-bred ridgling yet still won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. He defied the odds and was game until his retirement. Not only was he the nations star during his 3-yo campaign but he was to New York what Smarty Jones was to Pennsylvania and PA breds.
We bred our mare to Peace Rules. She also had a lot of early speed when she raced. She just foaled a colt on May 5. Hoping his speed genes will make him the kind of race horse his daddy was!
OMG! Peace Rules had NOTHING left but pure Thoroughbred grit and heart! Did you notice he did it on his own, not under the whip? Wow. Thanks, CF. I was just thinking about you the other day. :-)
