Münsterland Giro 2024 Provinzial Cup Last 50k (HDR) - October 3rd, 2024

This is the footage of the last 50k of the Provinzial Cup of the Münsterland Giro 2024. The 95k race was one of the three races that amateur riders could sign up for and went from Münster all the way to Coesfeld and back.
The weather turned out to be amazing. Sunny all day, low temperatures but no need for thick winter clothing. The course was mainly flat, but contained a few small hills that were long and steep enough to break up the groups. It was that and the wind which made the whole race very interesting.
On the way towards Coesfeld there was a headwind. Losing touch with the rider in front would have resulted in getting dropped immediately. That turned out to be more complicated than it sounds, especially after the short climbs and sharp turns. On the way back to Münster there was mostly a tailwind, but the groups were much smaller and were made up of riders with entirely different skill levels. That made it tough to maintain a good position for the sprint. Also the final few kilometers in Münster were very technical. I somehow missed the Flamme Rouge and even though I saw the 300 and 200 meter signs I was still kind of surprised to suddenly see the finish line in front of me :D
All in all I have to say that I would have greatly benefitted from more knowledge of the course. Several times I invested a lot of energy to catch up with riders only to find that they slowed down again shortly afterwards because of sharp bends or inclines. Finished 76/396 in my age group (Masters 2) and 427/1848 overall.
