We Race The Pros! How Slow Are We?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 10 сен 2022
- Obviously professional cyclists are very very fast, but how much faster are they than us? We wanted to find out, so set up a race with UCI Continental Team, Ribble Weldtite. However, this isn't like any of our usual races, because this time we're on exactly the same equipment as the pros, so we can see once and for all, just how much slower we are than professional cyclists?!

What impressed me was how close they were even after being retired for awhile. Really good video, thank you GCN.
You're welcome, Robin! They really didn't do all that badly!
It's because they rode the Ribble superbikes. You clearly didn't get the message!
1:46 behind is over 1km back. That's not really close in real competition, but still a good effort and challenge I enjoyed watching.
Roadies for DEVO,?
I am impressed by that - very roughly 10% or so slower on the same eqpt having never trained together aginst people who do that every day of the week. Impressed
Different helmets and gcn not wearing skinsuits
They used less aero helmets and clothing. 30 seconds lost most likely.
And we were missing our star man, Ollie 😉
@@gcn I am ready for a new episode of why Ollie was droped!
@@benturp3492 And no aerosocks.
You blokes underestimated yourselves! You guys did so amazing with only 1:46 against pros! Well done !! Extremely Happy to be supporting GCN after watching that! Proud of you fellas
Long removed and a fraction of the training load and no recovery help.
no need to watch now, cheers.
they are former pros though
@@gilescudmore7325 Well, you chose to read comments before watching the video. Crying now.
It's because your helmets are less aero
Bro what😂😂😂
Nah they just have a better gaming chair
Aero socks on dem pros too
And suits too
What it’s not the helment
11:15 Local Legend of that route chillin'.
They were like, I could chase them but I am on my recovery ride.🤣
looked in the comments for this joke
I'm not going to mince words. The GCN boys were INCREDIBLE. OK, maybe I'll carry on a bit more. 😮 Sometimes, because of their self-depricating humor, us viewers may lose track of how amazing the GCN presenters are as cyclists. Even Ollie fakes us out as he is a climbing sensation. That's all I have to say. Carry on.
Found this channel a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it, i started riding 2 weeks ago to help me on a massive weight loss and health improvement journey, got myself some cheap gear and road bike to get started, loving it so far, some amazing vids to help me understand things better
You picked the right hobby for weight loss! I actually have to try NOT to shed weight when I stick with an intense riding regimen. When I get down too low, I have to go out buy some brownies, fried foods, and ice cream, etc. Cycling is a gut burner for sure.
Get some bioracer gear
RideOn Tom!
Happy riding Tom! Good luck on your journey
Like Michael said, you've picked the right way to lose weight - if you enjoy cycling you'll just want to do more and more, and the kilos will just fly off! Good luck!!
I'd love to see something like this again in the future
Yeah - let the GCN trio train to improve their time and then see how it goes after a certain amount of time has passed.
Which presenters would you like to see take on pros in the future?
@@gcnracing Oh erm the ones that i saw in the video. But any professional or ex professional GCN trio take on the pros again in future would be great.
In about 50yrs would be perfect
These guys were averaging 43 kmph!!! (17 km, 23:26 time). That’s crazy!!!
Also I love the competitive fun here :)
They are absolute units! 👏
actually the route was 18.2 km accroding to maps (I live where they filmed it and often train on that exact loop). So they went even faster
@@TheGoupil19 hence, avg. 46.95 km/h GCN vs 51.03 km/h Ribble
impressive
cycle are faster and road condition super
I can hardly average around 30kph while these guys absolutely wilding
It's interesting that only one out of the 3 pro riders actually rides the super duper highly advertised highly aero handle bar...
Your position on the bike is the biggest aero factor. You can’t fine tune your position with a fully integrated bar and stem. Probably the case that they are more comfortable and aero with a different bar… Just marketing
@@tymcbride3477 ribble ultra bar is available in all common stem lengths and widths, so it probably isn’t position. But personally I wouldn’t ride a handlebar without bartape if you payed me to!
The one with the integrated bar was the most aero out of the 3. Narrow shoulders, flatter back. Most integrated are rubbish tho, if you need to get a long reach with narrow bars. Ribble one seems nice.
That’s because they were on their training bikes 🙄
Almost as good as those Specialized helmets in the Tour when the winner used the old one without the aero neck gaiter thing.
Wow, what an effort by GCN! My "go to" ride is a 9 mile loop and very flat. Wind is the biggest variable on the ride. That said, my time can vary by two minutes. The GCN team should be proud of their effort, not to mention, GCN probably has a couple years on these young pros. I also appreciate the pro's for playing along.
What an effort of the GCN lads! Great job, they haven’t trained a TT together before - very impressive. No one’s got dropped! Very funny: James was immediately in “competitive mode” 😂
More races like this please! 😀
13:18: "I wasn't sure if it was going to be 5 minutes or a minute." Well, if I had been one of the GCN riders I'm pretty sure the gap would have been at least 5 minutes.
Seriously though, loved this video. Stunning effort from GCN!
This is my local loop, was great to see both teams banging around my patch! Some of the edits were out of order, then no one else would know 😉 super quick times guys. Much impressed. And thumbs up for coming up to the Fylde coast. I also loved your vid comparing the 4 Ribble bikes a year or so ago. You were in the Trough of Bowland that day, another area I get to cycle. And Si came back again with his Eddie Mercx replica. It's great cycling up here in the North West 🙂
Yeah took me a while to figure out, as this is 11.3miles according to maps and not 10miles (nateby-stake pool-out rawcliffe back to nateby)
Whould you guys consider riding the route yourself and sharing your times with us?
Guessing you are neither a pro nor a presenter, your times on the same route with "normal" bikes would be very interesting to know
Working hard never looked so fun. Good job to everyone
Really enjoyed this one 👍 Amazing how you guys performed on this ride. Love GCN.
Those Ribble Weldtite boys are very good sports to do that. It was fun to watch!
It was fun to make!
That was awesome and very entertaining! Well done, GCN! Your riders rode very well!
So much fun...you guys get big credit for even attempting this competition...and you did well.
Really amazing result and video, thanks so much!!! And congrats
This was a great experiment GCN and well done to both teams for giving it a go.
Now we know what the difference between a presenter's team V a UK pro team is, What about a full on UCI Pro team V both ?
As always I love the the content you guys keep on delivering week in and week out - I'm a cyclist and I live in the Pennines
Fair play, on similar spec' bikes that you are more familiar with/fitted to, and a few days training as a team I bet you could have gone under the 1 minute mark.
I did have to chuckle at Si banging on about those handlebars, only to cut the pros where 2/3 aren't using them LOL.
Pros go in the corner like a train, so gcn need to train as a team.
Glad to see a race like this again. Good work fellas.
That was a good challenge. The GCN team sound train together for a month (2-3 times a week) and see if they could close that gap. This would show several things: the importance of team familiarity and how to maximize team strengths (and hide weaknesses). My guess is that you could cut the gap in half.
Looks like this was an actual laugh to film. I certainly enjoyed it. Great stuff: love GCN.
Fun video, also love how the passing runner did a double take
This is beautiful. Well done guys and keep motivating us.
Thanks, Bolaji!
Great video. I do enjoy the “squad videos”. GCN should do a play ground style “selection” where each individual member is picked from a line up.
I really enjoyed this. Would like to see this but with practice and training in a squad just to light a little bit of fire in everyone's hearts to see some fighting spirit.
Great effort by everyone!
Great effort guys.
Always look forward to that Sunday morning drop!
Where was Connor? Such a pity Alex crashed prior to your efforts!
I love your videos, the challenges, the tips and recommendations you are the top gear of cycling 😎👌
What an impressive performance by all the riders!! Great challenge for GCN but the Ribble riders are legends!
The back and forth with Hank and Si is just legendary.
More like this. To the max! Love it! 💜
Well done Team GCN! 💪
I'd love to see something like this again but maybe change the distance to 50 or maybe 100 km! Would be interesstring how big of an impact this will make in comparison!
Also well done video editing and story telling! 👌
Tell you what, great to see everyone give 100% effort - the baby face in the pro team is a right mouthy annoyance! Well done GCN team!
Awesome run guys. Gave the Pro's a run for their money. Great to see the team work at GCN...
THAT was a GREAT video!! Loved every minute of it!
Thanks, Christopher! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Fun and entertaining, enjoyable to watch. Do it again!!!! 😊
petition for GCN to actually make a Race Team!!! 🥰🥰🥰
ha! they retired for a reason 😉 you notice they do a lot of these one-off things as a project like seeing if Lloyd can get back to racing condition, after it's done though, that's it. they retired because they don't want to do that anymore
I've noticed something. Any and every video on this channel has great music facilitating it. You guys have great musical taste.
such a great biking community this channel is
As an avid amateur biker but staunch non-road biker I love your content. You’re bridging the gap between concrete and dirt and I love the videos you put out.
I love how Ribble keeping up with GCN and making these kind of content with the same exact bikes. Beside to see how great the pro racer could, and show how great their bikes are. I mean science and marketing win-win
Fantastic effort team GCN!
Very well-researched and fine-made video this is.
I love the humor! These guys are comedians on bicycles.
That team have cool guys! they seem so fun to banter with, less serious, but real pros!
Great job GCN and Ribble Weldtite teams. Amazing how all of you have come together for a great video. The camaraderie among the cycling community is absolutely awesome. Those Bikes you all rode were just amazing. I look forward to the next Video
I hope Ribble find the funding they’re looking for with this ad. They’re a fantastic team!
If ordered, a bicycle can't be delivered for 13 months. so .... Ribble doing OK.
Fantastic little video! Well done GCN!
Loved it! More of this!
Love that Ribble Kit & bikes!
awesome race, all of you guys did amazing!
Next time you take the average estimated difference as a head start for the GCN team ... then it can become an interesting finish ...
Great idea! We're a bit worried the presenters will predict a high time so they win though!
@@gcn Don't tell them, then ;)
Great fun and the old guys still have it. Well done.
Great type of Challenge with the bets! Brings a personal touch to the race and makes it very fun to watch.
Please do another round with a big climb and Ollie!
...Maybe also a great mode for future Challenges with gmbn.
For being kinda out of conditioning that wasn't bad at all GCN crew!!! I was actually impressed!!! ❤
Cycling changed my life.....best toy I ever bought for myself
This is really impressive and amazing. Especially GCN wearing normal stuff vs Pro wearing full aero stuff. If GCN guys were equipped with aero helmet and aero suit, 20 sec could be saved.
GCN Team made a good show here! Keep it up!
awesome race and good effort, team GCN!
You guys have the best job
Way to go, lads! Chapeau, GCN!!
I really love this content type vs pro thing
Such a great channel. Thanks everyone. Very impressive effort 👍👍
Thanks David, we're glad you enjoyed the video!
Awesome job boys GCN 😎👍
great advertising for their team. those ribble bikes (especially the bars) are great
Against Pros, stunning ride GCN!
Great fun I really enjoyed that one. Bravo to Ribble and GCN teams
Thanks Simon, glad you enjoyed it!
That GCN kit looks fantastic as a race kit!! Awesome work!
Great video. Thank you
Love that Ribble Kit! Snazzy.
So snazzy!
WOW. Really huge huge fan of that type of content 🤩
Yous are a great bunch of lads
You guys are fast! Well done GCN team 💪
That was good fun. Really enjoyed it, even knowing the any GCN rider would school me.
Impressive showing from team GCN!
Not bad!! Goood job GCN!!!!!
Really enjoyable, nice bikes with great colors.
:) very cool video, great effort from the amateurs (and of course also from the pros)...
Is there some law against shaking hands afterwards? If anything, the current pros should have shook hands with you GCN fellas on a job well done! ;-)
That was a great video. The goobers did better than I thought they would. Cool Pro's
Great video guys!
Tell ya what, GCN team did exceptionally well!!!
Glad Cy is back
Guys I’m proud of you ! That was fun to watch.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
To the Ribble Team: stay humble.
Yeah, the GCN folks got self-roasting banter down to an art and we love them for it.
I think they just made it a little entertaining. Most guest pros in gcn don't talk.
A great effort guys. Unfamiliar bikes and a group who have not ridden before would explain a fair proportion of that gap.
Super cool and fun video! Pls, pls try one with TT bikes :D
Beautiful bike and GCN guys did great against pro team
Blimmey, not at all bad lads. impressive:)
I love it that James/Hank is cheering on the competition.
that's how he is though. you can see he loves the excitement and loves to get other people excited. when he was talking to Tom Cardy at the festival it was a different situation but you could feel it there too
@@better.better I know 🙂 He's like a kid cheering on his favourite riders.
I love their socks!
Very good time guys, you did so well!
I am truly impressed, I never count it you guys out but you guys did a lot better than I thought….and by the way…you guys indeed looked good and very much like a team, very impressive, congratulations
This was a fun video! 👍👍
Great job GCN BOYS!!
great vid! very entertaining
