Hi @SenseiClara , I am deciding whether to do my graduate diploma in primary teaching through Open Polytechnics or University of Auckland. Hello, Clara Sensei. I'm a licensed professional teacher with experience in teaching ESL/ EFL only. I don't have any experience teaching in a traditional classroom setting. Do you think I have a chance in becoming a teacher in NZ?
Hi,
I suggest you get NZQA to have a look at your qualifications and experience. In NZ, we have so many ESOL/ESL students at school as well. You might even qualify for that. When you get your assessment done, make sure to attach a certificate of employment and any ESL-related docs, too.
A friend of mine is getting her qualifications assessed too, I’ll have a better answer once she’s gotten back to me. She is a Bachelor of Education graduate but not licensed. Maybe check back in a month, I might have a better answer for you.
Here’s a tutorial for NZQA in case you need it ruclips.net/video/ZgXi08I3zm0/видео.htmlsi=RhFI2YCHIiYqEnqb
@@SenseiClara Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
@@kgph123 Anytime 😁
Hello clara, what about PGCE?? Is PGCE holders get a job as a teacher??
Depends on your NZQA (IQA) result.
Get your qualifications assessed first. The result will determine your pathway.

How difficult was it to complete graduate diploma in primary
Did u get a job because of this diploma
It wasn't that difficult. I was even working part-time on top of working because I needed the money. The graduate diploma definitely helped me get registered as a teacher in NZ and then landed a teaching job.
What were the pre-requisites for getting into this diploma
Did you opt for online or regular course
Does this diploma lead to direct registration
Is it level 7 ?
Also as u mentioned dat before doing this diploma u went for PR
How long did it take for u to get a PR
AND also what were you doing during the process of getting PR
What are the requirement to become register teacher?
Hi,
If you’re from outside New Zealand, you will have to get your qualifications assessed by NZQA. Here’s a video for that.
ruclips.net/video/ZgXi08I3zm0/видео.html
Then, you act upon the result provided by them. You’ll also have to secure a proof of language proficiency if English is not your first language. I have a separate video on this called Proof of Language Skills for Immigration: PTE Essential Tips and Tricks.
Please let me know if you have anymore questions.

Hi, I'm planning to enroll in an ECE program in NZ and have applied to ICL, University of Waikato, and University of Auckland. ICL’s fees are lower-should I consider it? Does it really matter whether the course is from a university or college for future prospects? Which option would you recommend? Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I've answered this question in your other comment.
