I worked in the same warehouse for over 24 yrs. Wasted years ill never get back. Nothing but highschool drama, and piss poor pay. Finally at 49 yrs old- i got my class A license. Now, my office is the inside of a truck. Just me and my music. No dirtbag coworkers, or shit managers to deal with. Wish id done it 20+ yrs ago. HIGHLY recommend

Yes, yes, yes to all of it! I've worked in banking all of my adult life until 2020. My last six year position, I had to train new hires that came in making more than I did. The being treated like a child, the constant meetings and role playing. The public was a horror show. I had customers cuss me out and call me names regularly, throw things at me, steal things off my desk and try to physically attack me. They came in drunk and on drugs and were sexually explicit . There was a homeless person camped out in our restroom one day and my boss told me to go in there and get them out. Me, a five foot tall older lady! I'm self mercifully self employed now. Never, ever again. Ever.

We are not designed to work 9-5, 5 days a week. That leaves barely any time to actually live!! I work a zero hour contract job and live off grid, I’m broke but happier because I have time to do side hustles, sit and have deep creative thoughts, and stop to smell the roses. If a working week was 4 days a week, 6 hours a day I could hold down a full time job, but these days companies advertise for 9-6!! Where do they get off squeezing every last human battery hour out of us? It’s not worth it, just be less of a consumer and more in touch with nature and it’s a more positive existence. Unfortunately too many people are money oriented and like designer things that the system stays geared towards more work hours.

I also worked as a temp worker in accounting, I realised that there are a lot of toxic workplaces and they will fire a person for anything. I would sometimes come in and take over a job the next day after a person was fired or got sick and learn the accounts within a week. That's how replaceable you are. There is no 'family' at work, no loyalty, but get you give your best hours and behaviour to your work and come home tired and cranky for your family.

True, it's a socially acceptable way for women to leave the workforce. Unfortunately, if a marriage breaks down though, the ex-husband can end up supporting an ex-wife for the rest of her life, as if she's a child, because she no longer has any marketable skills. This can be the case no matter what the cause of the marriage breakdown and the fact that she chose to leave (and stay out of) the workforce isn't usually taken into account by the courts. Custody and spousal support laws in the United States need to change...

It happened when I was 6 yrs off retirement, I was totally burnt out from my very toxic low paid work environment. By the time this happened my adrenal and immune system was shot, and it caused permanent heart problems, my chronic fatigue was so bad for years taking a shower was too exhausting so it was a bath and that would be all I could manage for that day.
I have slowly gotten better and am know up to 60% of my old energy levels .
Why am I telling you this, it's as a warning to others to get out before you become me.

I left corporate America 5 years ago because NOBODY WANTED TO WORK! I was in my mid 40s and so were all my coworkers. Most of the employees put more effort into pretending to work than doing actual work -- and I was the guy pulling the weight of 3 or more people, doing critical path worth, and threatened with weekend work -- since the stuff I was working on was the most critical. It was both high stress and disgusting at the same time. I was livid. I was making maybe 10-15% more than the slackers -- but it wasn't worth it. The boss wouldn't do anything about it. That job lasted nearly 8 years. The job before that was largely the same. I figured if I'm going to work my ass off, stress out, and have my health deteriorate, I might as well work for myself. I'll sleep on the streets, under bridges, and in the gutter before I go back.

Plumbers, electricians, mechanics, even carpenters. they’re all needed and in my area there’s a shortage of all these positions. I’m a self employed land surveyor and I’ll never work for anyone again. Work out of my house, no commute, and work as much or as little as I want. Take vacation when I want. The only downside to it is you have no pension, paid retirement program, or paid insurance. But it’s still the way to go as most companies now don’t offer pensions and more and more are cutting insurance benefits.

I am 41 and I quit my career of 17 years in corporate finance last year. I've never worked in a call center, but working in the corporate world, as glamorous and snazzy as it sounds and looks, is like being in high school, really! You have the whining princesses, you have the lazy ones who do nothing but always seem to get away with everything, you have the boss's pet who gets the best projects and then gets promoted, you get the honest workers who everyone steps on, you get the backstabbers, the perverts and the psychopaths. Nobody is really safe from anyone else.
The work, although physically safe, is soul-less and mind-numbing, you are literally a slave chained to your desk, and you are supposed to be happy that you have a job and be thankful for the slavery.
True story: I worked at one point at the world's biggest commercial property management company, and every quarter we would get these emails about how well the company is doing, is expanding, is making record profits, winning contracts, etc, etc, so when it came time for the performance review at the end of the year and I asked for a raise, I was told that employee raises 'were not in the budget'. And this happened when I KNEW that management were getting bonuses for the great work that the EMPLOYEES were doing! This is the mildest of all the stories I could tell you about working in the corporate world. First class, modern slavery.

Like you, I realized that companies have no loyalty towards their employees and then why should I????? SO, I did the best I could for myself every time and never looked back.

I worked for a TV news station for 8 years and when the pandemic hit, I quit my job. The straw that broke the camels back was when the CEO mentioned in a meeting that he thought about paying off everyone's vacation time but instead decided to have us use it instead. I was furious because there wasn't enough workers that could fill in for vacations, they forced half the workforce to stay at home, there was no way in hell we were going to use our vacation time that year, it was use it or lose it, that was about 2 months into the pandemic with no end in sight. The BLM riots happened and it was like Covid-19 disappeared. The media was calling Conservative protests super spreaders a few weeks prior to the BLM riots, it was so stupid and so destructive, I have no freaking clue why the media sided with the violence it was sickening. The damage was really bad, people's life's were destroyed and the media flamed the hatred, there were days where I almost walked out of the control room, I could barely direct the newscast, it was soul crushing how the media handled that. There are very evil people working in the media, I remember when Trump killed that Iranian leader, the newsroom got all excited over the possibility of WWIII. Producers had gigantic smiles at the possibility that we were going to die in war.

The employees are just tools that they try making producing as much as possible for as less money as possible.
The employees are just a pain in the ass that cost money while customers brings them money.
That`s why they pretend to care about the most horrible customers while they make life as horrible as possible for the employees.
Ofc. they will try to pretend that they care about their employees with giving them praise when they are making profit. Like all these inspirational bullshit speeches.😄
" If you just give the idiot enough praise for his work, he will work himself to death".
Capitalism will only create a new monarchy system in the end, where most of the money end up in a few rich families.
Anyone with a brain understand this. The big owners runs the whole country and they use(buy) the politicians to get what they want.

I usually worked in the retention/escalation dept. because of the bonus structure. I didn't mind the customers abrasive attitudes, as I just casually listened to the yelling and reclined in my chair and filed my fingernails, with intermittent....'Oh, Dears & I am so sorry that has happened.' Sometimes I put them on hold to "Investigate" and I would come back in a few minutes with fresh coffee and a pastry. I learned pretty quickly how to manipulate these narcissists'. I made crazy money, but I also HATED my job. I would have to listen to a bad call I made with management every now and then, but I always told them I had a migraine or bad IBS that day. I was waiting for them to fire me so I could take a little break and collect unemployment. I NEVER got fired tho. Probably because I never did anything illegal. Anyhoo...I now collect my retirement and resell clothing online. Awwww....it feels sooooooooo good!!

I think part of the problem is that people have gotten used to technology that does everything instantly for them. And then they upgrade to even faster technology. People are used to computers that just keep getting faster, and the computers silently take whatever abuse is hurled at them. People aren't computers - they are human. But it seems like fewer and fewer people are willing to allow people to be human. Fewer people are patient enough and compassionate enough to allow humans enough time to be human - time to eat, sleep, bathe, go to the bathroom, process information, etc. It is a frightening reality.

Yes, 2 days from now I will leave my ultra stressful job and if that means going to live back with my mom at 52 years old, so be it! Life is too short to be so unbalanced that it effects your breathing. Great video and at the exact right time!!!

I hope you won't be a burden to your mom

@@alicerees1286 nope. No burden to her at all! When I have moved home a number of times throughout the years I always pay rent. No different this time if I do but looks like I will not be any time soon. So rest easy. 😂

Working 1 job is kind of hell. Working 2 jobs is definitely hell.

Here in Canada. Walked off my last job for things like that. Totally get what you are saying. I am dedicated worker and it just is so sad to be treated these ways.

I'm a supply teacher (substitute) in the UK and I have complete control over where, when and if I choose to work. I will never be a full-time teacher again as it is simply modern day slavery. Parents are entitled, children are poorly behaved and the system is toxic unless you are in control of the work. If I encounter any kind of unreasonable behaviour from the adults or pupils in a school, I simply walk away there and then. Thanks for the video.
