    Don't get the best filter you can find. Change cheap filters once a month. You raise the static pressure in a system causing the blower to work harder to pump the air. That's why capacitors go bad so quick too, thick filters cause heavy load on startup. Then lazy techs throw hard starts on systems they told people to put thick HEPA filters in. Filter changing and a i-wave r will keep the return plenum and coil clean and the i-wave r will kill bacteria and mold!

    Mostly spot on…except the ULV gadget. 90 percent of all mold spores in the air you breathe or going through the plenum out the registers are dead spores. Remember, mold does not make you sick spores do, so ditch the light, ditch ozone and use a MERV 10-12 pleated filter, don’t go much higher than this because your air handler has a static pressure switch and also it can strain the blower assembly and the high MERV rating will not allow air to pull through the pleats. FYI …Dead mold spores or Alive mold spores react the same biological on your body. Capture the spores, or evacuate the spores ..
    Great video

    A couple advantages to our house-- we don't have return ducts, just vents below the furnace in a central closet. And our supply vents are in the ceiling where people can't drop random garbage into them. But the house is over 50 years old and I doubt the system has ever been cleaned. So no telling how bad it actually is.

    Fantastic and informative! So, the "Groupon Scam special" you stated is normally upsold from $129 to roughly $800 which you illustrated was unreasonable! They prey against the elderly! Thank you!!! So, if a reputable duct cleaning company cleans the vents, trunk lines and the plenom, generally speaking, can the homeowner expect to be charged less than the $800 and should this cleaning be done every year? I suppose that the total will depend on whether they buy the air scrubbing system technicians will try to sell homeowners for around $1,500. These ultraviolet air scrubbers are on all of the time and burn out after 3 months needing replacement $250 each time. Are these air purifiers really effective in stopping dust travel and mold spores? Thank you very much, Mitch!

  • @sp1200M3D
    @sp1200M3D 9 месяцев назад

    Do not get hustled on UV lights unless your coils are clean, and if you just want that mental security… It’s not a fix for mold, dead mold is just as allergenic/toxigenic as viable mold. It’s still going to be there. The EPA and NADCA both do not condone fogging antimicrobials in HVAC systems either. Look it up. The fog loses its efficacy after a couple of feet. And once again, we’re not removing, we’re still killing, which goes against the Standard For Care, which is the removal/remediation of microbial growth. The goal is to just not get mold in your system with proper filtration so you should never even need to clean anything. Watch for duct leakage that can cause sweating too. No moisture, no mold. New builds need duct cleaning unfortunately because of all of the building dust.

    I loved your other video about duct cleaning scams, informative AND entertaining! I've started noticing my air filter getting CAKED in gray/black within 1-2 weeks(even using a high quality one!) & My kids are having allergy-type symptoms so..I know mine need to be cleaned badly. But last year I was told with new laws (regarding the refrigerant) going into effect, HVAC people wouldn't be allowed to work on our system anymore. I'd have to get a new one. Even if not true, I just don't know who to even trust to do it now! So.. Do you think if I were to rent a negative air machine, buy an air whip and/or rotary brush, & use my high powered air compressor, would it be possible that I could clean the system myself? I wish I could just hire you, if I were local to your area!

      @seraphina.Your air conditioner can still be worked on, it doesn't matter that it has the old R-22 refrigerant in it, but it is extremely expensive if you need to recharge your system. So no it's not that they can't work on it, they just want you to buy a new air conditioner.

      But if they told you exactly that I would think about getting a second opinion. The only time we say that is when we can’t find parts to fix or in the case of an old furnace it is very old and there is a high probability of becoming liable for touching it in case it harms people and we were the last company to touch it.

    It takes about 30 min for UV light to kill mold, but isn’t a majority of the air just go rushing past?

You say you've been in business for 13 years and have never had a complaint. I find that very difficult to believe. Why? The fact is, even the very best business owners on the planet have complaints. There are customers out there that will complain no matter how excellent the service is. So, with no complaints whatsoever in 13 years, you are either a statistical anomaly or you have greatly exaggerated your business record and acumen.

I am okay to pay more money as long as I receive the service in total like hyper :-) no kidding 100% agree that we need all services together as a whole .Wish I would have in GA ... thanks for sharing this video again .

      @@hyperstl I've went through a bunch of them in the last 30 min. I'm in the process of buying a company that cleans ducts as one of its services. He uses the rotoshitter. I'm going to back out. I new something felt off, and after reviewing all the equipment, not only is it all 20 years old, but this shit doesn't work. They want $125,000 for the business. The carpet cleaners all suck too, and don't even heat the water, he uses an external heater and then dumps the hot water in. What a joke. I think I can get a loan to buy proper equipment, my fear is not being able to find employees though. I'm very bummed out, but I'm glad I'm not losing a deposit on this, or worse...getting into 125k of debt only to offer people a shit scam service.
