    We replaced an old Dometic in our 36 foot camper (vented). ruclips.net/user/postUgkxDDbPbIlwLRcX_ntp51ui5UMtAUGpHYxE The install was a simple swap, all holes lined up, the electric plug back in with no trouble. Getting it on the camper was the most "difficult" part of it, and my friend made it look easy. I've seen people "sled" them up ladders as well though. I watched a RUclips video for instructions, very easily done. Some say it doesn't come with instructions, but I found the instructions under the ac in the box. I didn't need them, but they were there.It works well to keep a 36 footer comfortable, all by itself. It doesn't seem to be any quieter than the original, but it isn't any louder either. We're very pleased with it. Esp with the ease of swapping them out.

      @austinhodgkinson6001 3 года назад +8

      Definitely make sure the company you hire uses the push/pull method which is what you see here. Ask them if they use brushes or whips. Whips is what you want. They dont have to have a truck mounted vac but hopefully the portable one they use has high enough CFM to actually clean your ducts. Also the cost should be at least $350-$500 for a standard family home. If you see a lower advertised price, they arent even making enough to operate and they will most likely not be using the proper equipment or they will be upselling you up the wazoo and your end price will be 2x or more what it should be

    • @janetewin4819
      @janetewin4819 2 года назад

      @@austinhodgkinson6001 how much CFM should the vacuum have? How o find that they are saying the right number? I am so glad I saw your comment, it has to the point things to look and ask. Retired General Contractor, HVAC, Mold, etc... He is exactly right, all other methods of cleaning ducts are total BS, easily provable by having an air quality test done before and after. Additionally, you have no idea how much damage those brushes can do to older ducts, and holes in your ducts are the biggest issue with air quality in the first place. If your ducts are so bad you need to beat them with a brush, you are better off just replacing them.

    I used to do duct cleaning fulltime over 35 years ago while a hvac apprentice and I had a Pringle vacuum truck that pulled 12,000 CFMs of vacuum and it still didn't clean ducts the way it should, so in my opinion no matter what kind of duct cleaning machine is used, it is it's all show and no go. There are returns you simply cannot get to . Returns have most of the dirt/debris.My truck was so strong it sometimes collapsed the main trunks.
    Yet it still left considerable amounts of dust. And yes, I tried ALL methods in conjunction with the vac truck to do a satisfactory job. The only thing that was somewhat effective was when we treated ducts with Chlorine Dioxide sanitizer and even that was questionable. I moved on over to LEGIT work in hvac service and installations and STOPPED offering duct cleaning.
    Too many potential call backs.
    I recommended to my customers to use a high efficiency air filter instead.
    However, there are exceptions .
    There are " some" ductwork designs that makes it practical to use a duct vacuum but they are far and few between.
    Gravity fed heaters duct cleaning does a decent job but how many gravity fed heaters are still out there?..
    SORRY 😞.

    Duct cleaning is the least of your worries. The main culprit is where the dust & crap you see in the air is coming from. It's probably a combination of things. 1. Leaks at the blower, return, filter return leakage side of the blower. 2 leaks that are sucking dirty air from the ducts side. 3. The inner insulation of the plenum box that your duct lines are branching off from. This is the latest of issues I have recently found after replacing some flex ducts that where deteriorated due to age. You can feel the inner insulation when you take off the collar & feel the inner portion of your plenum box. The color of the fibers are the same as the fibers you will find at the boot of your registers screws where your air enters thru to your rooms you are conditioning. I I have yet to see any reference of this anywhere as of yet.

    I work for a nationally known air duct company i will say that the video makes some really good points but lacks explaining on how it all works waving vacs and brush's around and just saying this don't do anything is not explaining why yes air whips are the best way to clean a duct but there is more than one kind of whip and you can't use certain ones in certain ducts like duct board it will tear it up and was wrong about the Electric negative air machines they make much bigger ones that are as good as a gas powered one we use them in the factory's we clean . that said i won't give a thumbs down on the video

      Yeah, would have been nice to see an actual demonstration of a cleaning. Maybe a plexiglass duct filled with what you would normally find in an air duct. Then show how well each method works. Because I never really got a good idea of how their system even works. I'm guessing that they do the exact same thing as everyone else with the spinning brush. Then they send the air whip in to blow out whatever is left? Do other companies not do that part? What exactly is different other than a fancy van and more suction which may or may not matter?

    talking bad about other companies and the machines they use makes yourself seem desperate for business. at the end of day customers want to decide which company is good or bad. they dont want you deciding for them. when you go in cadillac they dont talk bad about lincoln cars engines etc. and lincoln doesnt talk bad about Cadillac and if they did it would seem weird like what you’re doing. Also, you can have the strongest truck mount blah blah and still do a crappy job.

    I have fine talcum-powder-like dust in my ducts. It's cat litter dust, as I made the mistake of putting litter boxes in the same room as my return air. Every time a cat scratched in the box or I cleaned the box, litter dust was released into the air and sucked into the system. Six years ago, I put my litter boxes on the screen porch and installed a cat door so the cats always have access. But that litter dust is _still_ in the ducts and _still_ gets blown all over the house, especially in dry or windy weather or when atmospheric pressure changes. Whatever is not airborne, forms a dirty film on counter tops, furniture, floors that must be wiped with a damp cloth. Blowing or vacuuming does not get it off. Any advice? Should I just get my ducts replaced?

    Is air duct cleaning recommended for all types of ducts? When we had a new AC put in we were thinking of getting the air ducts cleaned. The AC guy said we shouldn’t because we don’t have metal ducts but ducts more like the one on a dryer which can be damaged by the cleaning process. What is recommended for those types of vents? • @z1522

    The basic fact is that whatever accumulation might be in ducts, is likely statically bonded to the metal, and the very moderate pressure of a furnace blower is just not going to move it - so it is NOT a problem! The only material that matters is what accumulates in your air filters, and changing out 2-4 times a year for a quality filter is going to stop ALL of what would be blown into your home, because the air recirculates, and is not drawn from outside. As long as the filter holder seals so all air goes through it and not around, you are good. Worse, blasting a hurricane force to "clean" ducts may actually damage the ductwork, causing leaks that can waste heat or even dislodge connections, sending hot air into the crawlspace or attic.

    In sweden we have duct systems in every new house or builing with a positive fan and a pulling fan so you both get ”bad” air out and new and fresh air in.. we allways use wire and brush but in it is for the positive pressure system we connect a fan and plug where we are not sticking in the wire so we dont need a truck fan (much easier) and i understand why you are calling the brush shit but if you use the right sice for the canal it Will brush the dust and debree loose and send it to the fans (with filters)
