- This video details an update of my two outside bog barrel planters which experience all year round weather. The second barrel has been redesigned in hope to make a greater display from last year.
Bogs are looking good! I really like your purpureas.
Thank you! They’re one of my favourites too 😁
French people here looking to improve my skill to grow those beautiful carnivorous plants !
It is awesome to look at your videos, you look so passionate !
Next video, How to make a bog barrel & how it works🥳
Love the many updates and seeing others well ahead of me in terms of growth.
Thank you 😁
I enjoyed vthe video🙂
Ok with a show of hands how many from the states or elsewhere like her accent ✋
Love your videos 🥰🥰, your inspiring me to take more pics of my plants and hopefully soon I can make videos alike yours. Hope you don’t mind.
That’s great to hear! I hope you’re able to make videos, always great to see other people’s collections
Looking good across the pond! My flytraps are really starting to take off and my ping grandiflora is doing well too! They are still under lights yet for about another 2 weeks until the temps start moderating up a bit more. Our last frost is mid May.
That’s great to hear! Our temps are usually very varied, our last frost is also around late May but forecast is looking good at the moment 😁
Great collection. Hope to grow mine to a descent size as well. So which is your absolute favorite carnivorous plant?
Hmm good question. I don’t think I could pick a favourite actually. Maybe a top 10 🤣
@@carnivorous_plant_girl
Okay, that’s fair. So what are those top 10 then?
@@Jesus-eg3yb Hmm well I adore my Sarracenia so I’d probably say slacks maxima, Arian slack, leucophylla Alba then drosera regia, scorpioides and Dionaea phalanx. Not quite 10 but that’s some of my favourites off the top of my head
Great set up! Please post updates!
Do you think it would be possible to grow a Nepenthes (Alata for instance) in this bog?
All the plants in the barrel are temperate plants that require cold dormancy. Nepenthes are tropical plants that cannot handle hard freezes, so they wouldn't survive the winter.
As said above, nepenthes are tropical plants and do not require a dormancy. They also have different watering requirements to temperate bog species
Can you do a video on drosera flower stock cuttings?
Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to do a drosera flower stalk cutting propagation video in the near future
Thanks for the update, is that a cricket in that jar?
Glad you liked the video. And no not a cricket, they’re greenbottle flies for my pet praying mantis, I usually sort the castors in the Greenhouse haha
Where did you buy the VFTS from with the black plant tags that can be seen in the top left corner at 8:48 if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve bought from quite a few of the UK CP nurseries but don’t recognise the tags.
Those flytraps are off a fellow collector, I have brought plants from him from both eBay and Facebook, always good quality.
Really enjoy your videos. Have difficulty finding plants from CP nurseries of Ping grandiflora. Any suggestions??
The best place to find Pinguicula grandiflora is either asking on facebook groups or several growers will have gemmae available on ebay at the end of the year. I always have loads if you're from the UK :D
I’m in the UK and will ask at end of November. Thanks.
I have a outside bog pot and it gets so much sun shine that my purpureas dry out on the inside?
Don’t worry, the heat and sun will cause purpurea pitchers to dry out. Yet rainfall will fill them back up, most Sarracenia don’t create digestive enzymes by themselves so rely on rainfall and bacteria to break down prey
Do you collect and sell seeds?
Yes I do, I only sell to the UK however
