Man, that laugh is just downright creepy and I hate it and I love it. Horror modders gonna eat well with this.
Here's hoping
Its a damn vegas buffet for the horror modders. We can get a real work if they can have a huge ship to make into a horror ship. Especially when they lock the docking hatch.
Yeah I have 5.1 surround sound on my PC when that laugh happened it made my hair stand on end on my arms!
the modders will give her form, then rule 34 will give he abs and boobs.
I prefer the atmospheric pale lady than the physical entity. Nothing creepier than disembodied voices and figures that just stands in a place and maybe disappears when you get close.
Bruh, a haunted Starship, adrift in the middle of nowhere is genuinely terrifying.
Boy do I have a game for you. You should play Dead Space.
Play Hardspace: Shipbreaker, its not much more fun when you have to board them in the middle of huge Dockyard in Eath Orbit
I found this ship yesterday and was genuinely on edge the whole time I was on that ship! Ended up blowing it up after 😂
Xenomorph has entered the chat
Theory: If that poem is to be believed, you have to utter the Pale Lady’s name to become her victim. So, like a disease, she exists through the story of her, spreading out through contact with the people already infected/in the know of her legend. That’s why she can appear as different ships. All she needs is a ship that brings to mind HER particular legend, so that people speak her name and condemn themself to be her victim. And she waits just long enough for her legend to spread before killing each person.
And since the player never speaks her name, cuz it’s not an option, therefore you are not condemned.
That's an interesting theory to be fair
The Bye Bye Man 💀
A info Hazzard entity
If true, could the Pale Lady be connected to the temples and Starborn. Dead Starborn disappears in a flash of light, and the spacesuits are white
@@Fizhybut you said her name...
I found another ship that had been captured by spacers. The slates went from the spacers laughing at the crew to the crew running away from some lady in white towards the spacers and then the laugh. That goddamn laugh
Whattttt please give me more detail there
It was during my initial play through about a month ago so it’s a bit hazy but I found the first one then about 30 hours later I stumbled across a FC ship lit up in blue so I hailed it and the laugh got me, so I docked, found a couple slates that said that the crew found a painting of the pale lady, the second was spacers chatting about firing on the crew and that the weird part was the crew weren’t running to attack them but looked like they were running away from something.
“Cool ship. I think I’ll take it”
Hears the laughter
“Hey spare parts!”
Yeah, I know it doesn't do this in game but I heard about a plane crash that haunted other planes because the company that owned the planes used parts from the crashed plane in other planes.
My encounter with Pale Lady was a bit more bizarre.
Ship was different, smaller, less corpses, but same dataslates.
Bizarre part was that there was a person walking around cabin and talking with robot voice, normal robot voicelines.
I figured that crew had some disease that caused them to hallucinate and i was actually talking to a normal robot, but just hallucinating.
I had a similar experience with the the entire crew talking in a robot voice with normal voicelines
Every Starfield copy is personalized.
This happens if the encounter spawns a Freestar Collective ship instead of a UC Longsword. The encounter is bugged at that point.
@@Pseudowolf funny enough, mine was a UC Dagger and it spared me the fear of searching a larger ship
Just had this one. Freestar ship and robot-voice people with dead captain. Only two audio logs, which are both different from the UC variation. It's in the Sol system, hilariously.
The Pale Lady is truly terrifying.
I would know, my mom sunburns like a vampire and gets anemia at the drop of a hat.
👀
The hell
Have you tried Holy Water?
good work a ballistic exorcism was definitely needed
That's what I was thinking. Blow that fucker up!
I did the same myself. However I got the feeling that enough will be scavenged and reused so that the Pale Lady will strike again.
boutta waste all of my ships armaments on that stupid fucking ship
The empty black void of space lends itself to horror so well. I hope we get a lot more of it with future updates. I'm actually hoping we get some Lovecraftian DLC in the not too distant future. We all know Bethesda are fans of cosmic horror and even themed entire DLCs around it in previous games, so I really hope the streak continues. It's actually a shame this encounter is procedurally generated and not a fully realized quest. Imagine if they let you take and own this ship. How long could you play the game until the Pale Lady came for you?
Or worse imagine you land somewhere like New Atlantis or Neon and suddenly mysterious deaths start to happen... Because by landing you freed her of the ship.
i suspect the Great Serpent may be some Lovecraftian entity one of the expansions shed a bit more light on but who knows
I would have much rather this been a quest than operation starseed. Imagine getting infected and having to complete missions before you die or die and game over or something ridiculous.
Even without being haunted, the derelict ships are creepy enough, there's definitely potential for horror mods in this game.
I have a theory that The Pale Lady is, in fact, a multidimensional entity that has traveled through various universes. She just so happened to appear in the Starfield universe, which potentially hints to me that Starfield is in some way linked to The Elder Scrolls universe. It wouldn't surprise me, seeing as we can find Nirnroot growing in the ECS Constant ship.
The Elder Scrolls has some ties to other Bethesda universes as well. Take the vaguely Nirnroot-esc experimental plant growing on the Brotherhood of Steel's ship in Fallout 4, for example. These coincidences and tie-ins are all very, very odd and warrant more investigation.
And lastly, take into account the gravity warping technology that has been invented by humans in Starfield lore. What if this gravity warping technology opens rifts or multidimensional portals that can drag in, or out, beings and energies from other dimensions? Very captivating concept.
so the pale lady is a starborn?
@@dragonquest8ftw1Maybe you don't have to turn into a Starborn to be an interdimensional being, maybe the supernatural can be everywhere at once. My headcanon is that all Bethesda games are "connected" through the Unity.
most likely just eastereggs but i appreciate your well thought out theories
Bro stop reaching for straws
Makes the Dwemer disappearance a little more interesting too!
The player isn't killed on the ship because they are not the crew. She won't kill visitors just the crew.
Im so hooked on this game lol Im currently level 92 and have never even heard of this ship 😮 Im finding new stuff every time i play. The game is massive! Awesome video.
Massive but not good
I can`t find the ship I`ve looked everywhere and I`m on level 102
I return. Again.
I return from a 24 hour comment ban by RUclips itself. Again. I’m weirdly toxic for a jolly fart smella.
Will an AC Mirage video come with this return??
@@RJMakes I'll figure it out. Maybe.
@@Fizhy I won’t.
@@Fizhy holy shit I’m hyped
Man imagine if from then on if you had the log from the ship still you got haunted. Figures disappearing out of the dark corners, distant laughs, when there certainly shouldn’t be any etc. that’d be pretty cool
I would shit myself and uninstalled the game 😂😂😂😂😂
The story is what summons her. Thats why the other character doesn't want to hear it.
There is a nautical story of a woman that is known as the Pale Lady, where I am from., Allegedly any sailor who saw the Pale Lady or heard her laughter, would suffer a terrible accident.
Holy shit she is in our world too!!
I heard that laugh and my lord I am so ready to force my character headlong into a possible supernatural experience
My fav level in Bloodlines is the Hotel one. Where a ghost tries to slam a whole elevator down on you.
I adore haunted levels
There's an atmosphere to 'em
When i managed to find that ship, the entire crew was alive, and all of them had robot voice lines.
Same here
Starfield needs an Event Horizon type mission.
Nah. Fuck that ship.
Hell no….and yes lol That movie haunted me when it first came out. 😂
Idk if I could handle an Event Horizon on Starfield. Starfield almost touches the morbid side which makes it creepy but an Event Horizon on Starfield would definitely make people pause the game many times and rethink if they want to finish the quest. 😂
It'd probably save this game from going into obscurity
You do some of the creepiest and most eerie lore videos. Keep up the great work!
There was a similar encounter I had the other day. It wasn't a derelict ship or anything, but I landed on a planet and there was this ethereal like singing, kinda like how her laughter sounded. Scared the shit out of me cause there was nothing around me aside from my ship.
I heard some kind of humming on an abandoned base. I crept around thinking I wasn't alone, but never encountered anyone. Spoopy
18:43 Well, that takes care of THAT.
UNTIL YOU HEAR THAT CACKLE ON YOUR OWN SHIP. ☠
Nah it's confined to the ship and that data log. Playing that data log anywhere and you'll hear it.
@@Fizhy 😳😳😳
@@FizhyOr it's clung to the outside of your hull, Alien style
A historical inspiration could be the USS Enterprise (CV-6), known as the Grey Ghost because she Japanese press kept reporting that she was sunk. Could tie in to how the vessel in the game keeps returning to service.
Also pretty similar to the Orung Maden.. how ever the hell it's spelled. I was super shit faced drunk with maps and a globe trying to see if I can pin point were it sunk. Like I said it's similar to an extent
I found a ship telling a pretty sad story: everyone starved because pirates destroyed the engines and left them there one guy wanted to go outside to fix them but he never came back.
I also found a ship that is probably a xenomorph reference: everyone’s dead and deep into the ship there’s some crawling alien in a closed off section.
The last Ship is actually there at the same location for everyone i think. but i don’t know if it’s there if you come back. it’s in the schrodinger system in schrodinger 3s orbit hidden between some asteroids
I found 5 ships. The two you mention plus one that has a theater, one with a vault has loot and another that I couldn't enter. Plus the two space stations. I have never found this one😪
No way, I saw gameplay footage of this yesterday and was thinking I hope you do a video on it, like your Colander one. Good shit mate!
The Pale Lady is also a story, that you can "confirm" in TES V: Skyrim
Its also a quest.
The lore. The writing style. The script. That narration. Keep. Up. The. Fn. Great. Job. From Red Dead to Starfield and beyond. Always look forward to your uploads.❤🔥
I heard the laughter and said nope. "This will cause some to 'nope' right out the system"😂😂😂😂
The laugh at the end wasn't just in real time, it starts with the static that the rest of the dialogue has, but that filter quickly fades like if she's jumping out of the dataslate at you. Listening to that with headphones for the first time was actually really freaky.
What would be truly terrifying, if after you destroy the ship, it rebuilds itself and comes after you. Not firing, but to ram and passes through your ship and laughs, then disappears. Also as you try to fire upon it, all you weapons just pass through it.
Man I wanted you to claim the ship and see if any other interactions took place.
Great content, great storytelling!
Think someone on the Dev team played Hardspace: Shipbreaker, that laughter is pretty similar to what you hear on the AI ghostships, the found audio logs etc
Ok this is just downright scary, enough that my hair stand's up, and i haven't even found this special event yet.
Now I want to make a mod called “don’t fly alone”. If I could I would make it so that when you are playing alone with no companion or crew (yes even Vasco) you would randomly hear tapping in your ship and very rarely you would here a distant whisper of “Rap, Tap, Tap.”
Yes this is a nod to the game Warframe.
Very well-played and very well-read. Loved your verbailaztion and your tone, as it set the mood for the whole video. I enjoyed that as much or more than the story. I think the original "Pale Lady" from ancient folklore, was something of a Succubus, that would drain a persons Spirit rather than their blood. Later, it was replaced with blood in a belief that it was more shocking. Cats have also been attributed to breathing in a baby's soul/spirit.
She could be a Starborn or something similar, like what if she tried to reach unity in a nonstandard way and accidently fused a part of herself with the atoms of a asteroid field which got mined and turned into ship parts.
But if you reached the end of Starfield, bits of you will exist as ideas in the universe you leave behind. So the Pale Lady could have attached herself to her own story and survives because people keep telling her legend. Nothing bad was happening on the ship until someone mentioned her which either summoned or activated her, then she wrote her own ghost story for you to tell. Meaning even if you blew up the ship, she survives.
If I see any ships called "Event Horizon" or "Zariman 10-0" however I am just noping out of the system.
As someone who also plays Warframe I am just happy she did not say "Rap Tap Tap" behind you.
Finding an inspiration for this story might be impossible, Pop culture and mariner's folklore probably has dozens of stories for this. The icy Atlantic does not give up her secrets without a price.
There is a 1952 movie called Ghost Ship, though its plot does not mention finding bodies onboard.
There is also this, the tale of the Ourang Medan(can just google the name, I am unsure if RUclips nukes links on all channels)
"There is some skepticism as to whether Ourang Medan actually existed, but its legend is well known. Around 1948, Morse code distress signals were picked up by several ships off the coast of Indonesia. The vessel in distress was a Dutch freighter called Ourang Medan, a Malay name meaning “Man from Medan.
Though the distress calls were intermittent and garbled at times, nearby ships were able to ascertain that the captain and all the officers were dead, the entire crew was in jeopardy and after several attempts at additional transmissions, a final message simply said, “I die.” Shortly after the last transmission, a vessel responding to the distress was able to locate Ourang Medan. The ship appeared to be in sound condition, but there was no response to the attempts to make contact, so a boarding party was dispatched. Upon entering the ship, they found a terrifying scene. The entire crew was found dead, their bodies were contorted with arms outstretched, eyes open and expressions of horror on their faces. Even the ship’s dog was found dead, baring his teeth at some phantom adversary. Yet upon closer observation, no injuries were observed on any of the bodies.
After some deliberation, a decision was made to tow the vessel to port to investigate the tragedy. However, as the salvaging crew prepared to tow the vessel, smoke began to pour out the hull. The crew was forced to abandon the ship and cut the lines to escape the thick smoke. Moments later, Ourang Medan exploded. Macabre speculation continues to surround the fate of the freighter and her unfortunate crew. There are those who believe that the crew was terrorized by demons or extraterrestrials; other stories claim the ship was carrying gruesome chemical weapons that accidentally killed the unprotected civilian crew charged with transporting them. And of course there are conspiracy theorists who say it was a military crew disguised aboard a civilian ship, carrying a mystery weapon that may have changed the course of history had Ourang Medan not met an untimely end."
Finds a ship called "USG Ishimura" or "ISD Vector"
'Yep I'll give space exploring a miss today, will head home for now"
I found this today, was not expecting anything quite like it, but i didnt hail the ship, as soon as i entered the system, i heard the humming.
Thought i was going abit mad, looked around for a little, then I seen the derelict ship, which laughed. I was crapping myself but also curious... so i boarded it and found those slates. Needless to say not long after frantically running back to my ship, i blew it to bits before jumping far far away 😂.
If the dead bodies had the pale faces i dont think id of made it to the cockpit.
I swear, when I first heard that laugh, I wouldn't dare board this ship and probably blast it to oblivion.
I just ran into this today and noped all the way back to Jameson
Randomly enough it spawned when i arrived at The Den, probably the last place i expected it to be
You're great at storytelling.
Imagine being a ghost haunting a ship only to have some powerful, universe hopping starborn get smart and blow it out of the void.
The laugh gave me chills that i dont get often from games. Makes me hope for some Lovecraftian horror in the game eventually. Eventually i hope to play this. Also reminds me of the movie Event Horizon
It's good hearing fizhy asmr after 2 years not watchinv his videos
Man those scary stories books where all the rage when I was a kid. Just the cover got me nostalgic
To be fair, I didn't know that the "Ship" markers were random encounters. I was just grav jumping and hoping for the best, ultimately getting the same handful of interactions. You showing the hows and wheres of the encounter did grant me a solid chunk of content I hadn't seen yet. Thank you!
Update to myself: Procyon A, 6-a. System was visited at least one other time.
Linnaeus 2-a. System was not visited before.
Sol, Umbriel. Freestar variation. Quest activated and completed with no issue. Crew logs are different. Interesting...
Weirdly enough, I heard that cackle just before entering my ship when it was parked in Atlantis...... Literally said WTF... Game bug?
Yeah the second i heard that giggle in my playthrough all i thought was "yeah keep laughing" *wipes them from existence*
Yeah this whole ship was completely different for me, all the crew were alive except the captain but talked like robots and one slate was missing completely
The Pale Lady falls into the same kinds of story like Bloody Mary and the Boogie Man. The Story I heard as a child was she would appear on roadsides, often in a wedding gown or night dress, often soaked to the bone even tho there would be no rain or weather that would suggest her being so wet. Details often vary wildly from involving a married couple, the girl often with child. Sometimes she is picked up by a lone truck driver. But they often give her a ride somewhere, only to lose her when they get to civilization like a garage or dinner off the road. Then they talk to a local who tells a story about a lost love or family tragedy or some kind of betrayal that lead to a young girl drowning at a local bridge.
Ohhh yea, A Woman in White, pale lady, same story I suppose.. thank God for Supernatural
Cold night. Hot coffee.
Great vid.
Just started playing Starfield now, love it so far, so full of realism and ghosts and paranormal in starfield would add to the realism as it all exists in real life with overwhelming evidence, so a space ship might have ghosts of dead crew etc
I find the laughter soothing. Its probably done from an echo sound track or voice recording (or on a reverb loop). If Its possible to keep the ship I would. I would be further diabolical by hiring crew from The Crimson Fleet as the ghost picks them off one by one. 😈 It be like flying my own Flying Dutchmen ship and a good RP role. It would be great if I had an Xbox or Computer, but a PlayStation 4 is fine. No Mans Sky has gone a long way. And theirs Star Citizen, but I need to repair a couple more controllers before playing long RPGs, Driving, or FPS games. I don't want to spend any more $60 on controllers when they can be filled with silicone, clean axis 6 analog clips (for stick drift). Its tedious but saves money.
a very cool GHOST STORY !! i have to find this ship now ..
I got the bugged version of this...... Thank you for uploading this.
wow, i haven't seen a "Scary Stories To Chill your Bones" book in literal decades. i hope i can get them again sometime.
Best case scenario Crimson Pirates will seize it!!
Funny how bodies never look decomposed or skeletons in this game.
no decomposition is allowed in the future
Haven’t you heard actual good story telling and work is not allowed at Bethesda soft works
The pale lady is also a term used to describe the moon.
I always said that I wish this game had a space station being terrorized by a terromorph as a reference to alien.
I found a derelict ship (not the Colander) that was a science vessel researching on an alien in cocoon state. The cocoon make everyone sleepy before emerging and kill them all.
Maybe its out there and we dont know it yet?
There is ..."something"....but I ain't spoiling it for you.😊
The Colander.
lemme tell you, the first time i heard that laugh, i fully energized my weapons and started blasting
The goat fish back at it again
Ok, I need to upgrade my PC to play this thing. I just love stuff like this.
I wish I could say it spoke to the broader experience, but that's not really the case. There's some good bits like this and the Colander, but there's a lot of empty too.
@@Fizhy yeah i know, but i try to stay positive. Same happend with Cyberpunk. Bugs and bugs...and bugs, but I love the game since launch
Tbh i dont think its worth upgrading a pc. I like the game but ild reccomend picking it up on an xbox with gamepass you'd still pay less than the rig you'd need to play this.
its a bethesda game. i know lol @stmsin
My first thought was that the pale lady is a terrormorph...
4:00 the craziest thing is that if u attempt to attack it, it powers up and fights back, which spooked the hell outta me...and then i heard generic lady's voice going "you'll regret that!" and instantly became less spooked
“Ah you’re back! So how did-“
“Space is haunted”
“Huh?”
(Loading bolter)
“SPACE IS HAUNTED!”
Hey nice to know my comment about this encounter on a previous video led to you driving yourself mad in an attempt to find The Pale Lady, her legend persists
I did this for you
I wondered if it wasn't a energy like alien that was encountered during the war. It latched onto the ship and has made it a home ever since
I might check out Starfield at some point, from what I have seen it looks great
Imagine that you can take over the ship. And after a while you get slates out of nowhere, telling you how nice it is with you around because you bring so much dead.
Just like her.
love those books i had that book 3
Ship found at the edge of universe with crew dead sounds awfully like a plot from Edge horizon - a 1997 horror movie
I remember those books! Scared the pants off of me!
Funny thing, many of us get this quest as a bugged version where there is a robot human (a human character that is talking and acting with the robot script). Some people even get a version with three robot humans. When I first got it, I thought it was supposed to be a nod to Aliens, with their synthetic humans, but then come to find out, we're just getting a bugged version of the quest. One version (the one I got) happens on a much smaller ship, only a couple of rooms, with only two slates and then the activity can't be finished. A 3rd quest marker points towards an empty spot near the floor.
Waited for u
I just said to myself yesterday soon he’ll be making Starfield documentaries. As there are many stories out there. One I’m chasing right now. Great video!! 🦾
150 hours in and I have YET to get this
220 hrs for me, never seen it either sadly
It's also a reference to the Star Wars force ghost who hunts the crew of ships with hyperdrive/force sensitives.
One thing that would be really scary is that when you activate "sense life" you can see something very briefly. But no need for more, just that would be enough.
That was pretty good.
I love Bethesda games and their randomness. I just encounter an outpost and a French Survivalist who kept saying " shoo shoo go away." He didn't know what happened to the crew they're all dead. Through private eyeing, a fight broke out between 8 people. Over if cereal with milk is soup or not. Gone are the says of pineapple on pizza debates. In the Blackest Sea shit gets real over Ceral or Soup.
Is it a ghost or a genuine ginger?
Hey man idk if u know but vlogging through history is reacting to ur things lol
Clocked in around 160 hours and I still have yet to see a derelict ship. Then again, I just spend most of my time exploring and taking photos of gas giants from their moon (s). My favorite view so far has gotta be on ophion 1-A
ive seen a couple, not this one though sadly
Found this very early on.. Blew it up after I left.
You can dispel the pale lady if you return the sword.
I think.
Indeed, returning the sword in Skyrim dispels her.
Given that the starship is a "longsword"...wonder if theres somewhere it can be returned to?
When I encountered this ship I was like "hell no" and exited the game
Definitely random, mine was found in Kang System, in orbit of Kang 8-A. Good hunting!!!
I keep hearing about this ship (not watching the videos so as to not spoil it) but I'm at NG+6 and have never found it.
I got a different UC ship as my Pale Lady, it didn’t have all the audio logs and was like two compartments, a 2x2 multi hab and the cockpit, and yeah, it was bugged
Sounds like that ghost that haunts Sebastian in The Evil Within 2
1:10 "Now whilst exploring the starfield space can get rather lonely, that's why the game on occasion will shake things up with a loading screen you simply were expecting to have."
Puts me in mind of Event Horizon. Ship disappears into a void (hell in the movie), and it comes back possessed.
Thanks, its not like I need sleep anyways.
I did in fact "nope" out of that place right away
When I boarded the ship there was only one dead body and the crew all spoke like robots that you usually find in civilian outposts. Possibly bugged for me
The moment I heard that laugh, I thought; Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope!
I'm a Life Support Systems Engineer, and that phenomenon appearing aboard different ships speaks for a life support malfunction.
It could very well be that a multitude of Air Revitalization Units were contaminated in the factory, breeding colonies of multiresistent bacteria that release sporadically and infect the crew. Coupled with a failing Air Revitalization Unit due to unusually high biofilm deposition, CO levels could fluctuate and cause hallucinations.
It would also explain how the crew couldbuy a decommissioned Longsword. Probabaly SysDef iddentified a failure in the ship's system, decommissioned it for scrap and the scrappers saw a seemingly intact vessel and just sold it instead of scrapping it.
And the laugh on the comms? Hm. Maybe a dying crew member mimicking the sounds they hallucinate? And when the player is on board, the high CO levels immediatley start to take their toll, explaining the laughter after the recording.
When I found her I decided to introduce what ever had boarded that ship to the Constellation Expedition Ship Grace Dieu and her special weaponry
Rail guns…..
