Just here to say that I just came across your latest manual video earlier today, and I've started seeing older videos just because of how great they are. Keep it up!
I get my Driver's License in a few months, and my dad doesn't let me drive in the car until I get my license, all said and done I've been watching lots of your videos to get some confidence and knowledge on what mistakes that I should be avoiding when I get my first time behind the wheel. Safe to say I love your videos and they've taught me a great deal. 👍👍 Update: I've recently had my first time behind the wheel and watching all of your videos has really helped me to get the confidence I need to drive well and safe. I made lots of mistakes though but no biggie I'm sure I'll improve 😁
Hi this been my problem cameras are great but all cars don’t have them. But I want to practice more to get better with tight parking and distance between cars. Thank You for making this video.👍👍
I love your videos man. They're interesting to watch even when I know what you're teaching. The effort you put in with all the different camera angles, lighting, editing etc just shows how much you love your job! Thank you so much man
This is the type of video which is packed with useful info and plenty of great examples - something what you want and need to watch more than once. Thank you Richard for such an amazing work yet again 👍🙂
Just wanted to say a massive thankyou to u I passed my test first time yesterday and watching your videos really helped me learn things I wasn't sure about. Your video s are so clear and easily instructed. I will continue to watch your videos to help me further now I'm new to the roads. Thankyou so much x
Hi Richard, I just passed my test 1st time today and I would like to say a massive thank you for all your videos which have helped me so much. I really recommend this channel to anyone learning. Thank you Mr Fanders. You legend!
I have found your style of describing driving in most logical and easy to understand fashion. Superb job sir. Your knowledge sharing always help me in improving my driving skills. Thanks a lot form India.😊👍
Thank you Richard, this saved me today, as somebody parked up really close to me and was squashed between 2x cars. Managed to get out, thankfully, watching this video 2x times. Saved this as a reference video! Happy New Year by the way!
I had to do this today and just looked this up to see if anyone else struggled with it💀 did what you said but it felt like it took forever, the road was so busy too lol
Great video. In the car park animation from 5:40 to 7:28: A method I would have used as the blue car would be as follows: 1. Drive forward with minimal steering lock to the left, all the way up to the back end of the black car on the far side of the roadway that's blocking me from exiting in one go. 2. I would then be at a slight angle pointing left, behind that black car 3. The above manouvre would very nicely place me far enough away from the car that's parked in the bay to my left and not have to steer at close quarters to it on the subsequent manouvre. 4. I now turn the wheel full lock to my right, reverse and straighten up, with proper observation of course. 5. I can now proceed forwards and on my way out
I don't lock the steering. I know it goes 1 1/2 turns either way, and I use 1 1/4 . For years I park a big car in a tight place and I've learned a lesson that if I lock the steering or steer non-moving, a steering rake leak is going to happen.... Better 1-2 manouvers more than a steering lock.
@@zacmich6472 Yes you make some valid points, especially regarding what's known as "dry steering". In other words, applying steering lock whilst the car is stationary. Easy to do with power steering but the lightness can disguise the fact that high forces are still being applied on the whole steering linkage.
Hi Richard! I’ve been watching your videos since I’ve got a test coming up and they have helped tremendously. May I ask that you start making videos containing practical situations (e.g. what to do following an accident, how to avoid an accident getting “sandwiched” between two cars in a roundabout, how to maintain a polite but assertive attitude to the other party following an accident, etc). Thank you so much. Will continue to watch your videos until I pass my test
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Not many drivers (even highly experienced ones) are comfortable in this type of conditions. Especially in narrow roads it is very difficult to parallel park... This was very nice and clear to understand and interpret. Two thumbs up.
glad I found this, had some guy box me in for the first time, he had half a car length behind him but he decided to get as close to me as possible and since I learned how to drive in a modern car with sensors and it being easier to drive, I had a hard time getting out with my 1994 Mustang...it was a nightmare to get out but I did it after a few minutes 😭
Ended up in a close parallel parking situation a week ago on a busy road and I didn't have much experience. I sat there for maybe 15 minutes before attempting to get out. Absolutely no clue how I managed to get out without hitting both cars 😄
my car, has no power steering, and this affects where and how i park. So i also suggest pre planning where you park depending on your car, skills and location.
I worked as a delivery driver for a few years, and parking my lwb van in the depot on a morning was sometimes a nightmare. Depending on how some people parked opposite, getting out could be nearly impossible. Put hairs on the chest 😂
Is this the only video where you talk about Turning circle? I would love to hear more about this topic. How should I know turning circle of my car? How should I use that knowledge while turning? Plz suggest if there is any other video which elaborates on this topic? Thanks! ❤🙏
Thanks for this video. I do have problems with this. I find myself often in the situation when I reverse back into a bay, but have little room to get out. When I don't make it, I go back with straight wheels, and when I try again then I find myself even closer to the car left of me and not able to get out. I should try turning the wheels in the opposite direction. Thanks.
Funny stuff about your channel is I can't find a matching one in Russian for my sister to learn from 😂 wish this had subtitles on many languages, literally never found anyone even trying to stick a go pro on their head, best case they film on their phone 😂 Also those nice little animations, who's doing that?so nice! Good stuff, yesterday had this issue with a tight space
Thank you, I have thought about getting someone to translate, but then I would have to trust them and it may cost a lot of money given how many languages there are. I do the animations myself.
Hi , your videos are really very good and helpful. I have a question as I am a learner , should we press the clutch while taking a U turn on a busy road ? How to approach big speed breakers, should the clutch be down or up?
Look everywhere you think is relevant, don't look at one place as you may miss something. Use the mirror or window that helps you judge where you are the most.
Hello Richard - Thanks for all your videos! I must say, one can pass driving test if they follow your driving videos! I had passed last year but still follow your videos. Could you please make a video of the following scenarios please as I had faced a huge issue couple of times when I was into this situation? Both the times, I made a failed attempt to try my solution.. “Scenario - My car is either parked on a downhill Parking bay or stopped on a downhill (both the cases I am facing downhill). Now, when I try to reverse on both the occasions, I get my clutch to biting point and then i try to give a gas after lifting my feet off the brake, the car starts rolling downwards! To some extent it’s fine but if there is another car in front of my car then my car can hit it!” I hope I was able to explain my problem correctly to you! Please help! I find it difficult when I go for a countryside visit. Not sure if the problem is with my car or with my skills! I have BMW 1 series 2011 manual model, just to let you know. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for watching, it sounds like you're using an inappropriate method of hill start, using the gas after the lifting the clutch doesn't work in all cars well and doesn't work in many cars on a steep hill. Richard, can you help I'm peeved at myself, in motor trade 18 years and gave up PDi / ADi I CANNOT PARK, I can get in nicely, but tidying-up forward parking, or squaring up I go forward not centred and hit alloys at low low speeds as often as 15 times 18 months. I am a terrible judge of space by front wheel to kurb A fresh valeted beautiful car, today. heavy kurbed nice alloys premium car when after reversing in going forward park high curb hit hard slow speed I blame driving different cars. What should I do, it is annoying me so much I may get lessons , which is ironic when I passed PDi PT2 !
I would recommend taking your time and adjusting your mirrors when parking to help you see the kerb. The only reason I don't touch the kerb when I park is because I can see it in the mirror. Also, you may be trying to get too close to the kerb or park in a space that's too small. When going forwards you can't see the kerb so I always play it safe and make sure I'm not getting closer if I'm already relatively close. I get closer on the way back when I can see it.
@@ConquerDriving thanks Richard. RE: Mirror. I realised I need to reverse kurb to driver side. So I can reverse onto kurb see rear tyre driver mirror and lift up my person to physically see front wheel offside our drivers window. I’m ok ish parking on a straight unless reverse in and it’s talk kurb time
Here's a question I have as a driver of over 30 years do you have any tips for driving in tight multi storey car parks in a car with big alloys? I have a Toyota Corolla sport tourer hybrid which has 18" wheels and low profile tyres and am always very nervous in car parks like the one I was in last night which had high kerbs and tight turns and high kerbs as I don't want to risk damaging my wheels. Thankfully I managed it but was wondering if you'd any tips for how to negotiate your way around such places in such a vehicle.
Hi conquer I can move off both ways. But sometimes I have a bad habit of moving off using only clutch and then adding gas when start moving ? Would I fail a test for this. Is it bad for the car to move off without setting gas ?
As long as the car moves with good control and without struggling it doesn't matter the method you use. But not adding gas will cause some cars to struggle.
hi this is really helpful. could you please make a video on Getting out from tight parallel park uphill and downhill. i have to use handbrake often in that situation. i tried without handbrake first and only use brake then I stalled. as i have Kia petrol 2007 (often stalled) keep reversing then forward many times exit from tight space makes me stressful as a new driver
I would like to do some more auto content in the future, the video I did a while back that I think you're referring to should be all you need to move and stop an automatic. ruclips.net/video/kTZCinivLco/видео.html
Thanks + Great videos(following some others too).Once parked in driving test in bay.Can we secure the car and come out to see the positioning of the front? Is it allowed to step out and see ( I am aware, side and back we can see in mirrors).
"Legal"? I asked from the perspective of the driver sitting along with the Examiner. Can a legal driver secure a car in test and come out to see if his/her positioning of front is correct while in bay.(is it allowed)? There will definitely be Minor but at least surety in some tricky situations.
Hi can someone please help me. My driving test is in afternoon time it's been now one month left, so I thought I need to practice some lessons around that time but my instructor keep telling me there's no difference so I just have lessons in the morning. I wanted to make sure how I would drive in busy time and it should be dark earlier Can someone please guide me
Sounds like you need some private practise in a friend or family members car or you need to get your instructor to take you out when you want. It's important to get used to busier traffic.
What about when you get complete idiots parking one or two inches from your front bumper and there is no room to reverse either; this has happened to me!
This haopened after a gp appt parked away from the car park as scared lol then cars behind n front, i was mind stuck just cooled car and waited till they both left😂😢
Hi can someone answer please if I’m doing reverse parallel park the front of the car swings out that moment a car approaches from behind should I stop and let him go 🛑 or should I continue the manoeuvre? I continued the manoeuvre as I felt there wasn’t much space for the car behind to pass through my instructor says I should have stopped there. Please help out.
When reversing you should give way to anyone you are affecting. If a car is coming and you're getting in their way you need to wait until you know that won't try to pass you. However if you feel you are getting out of their way it's better to continue. You have to deal with each situation separately and logically think what the most sensible thing to do is. Bare in mind a car may mount the kerb to pass you so if you think there is not enough room for them to pass they may still try.
There is not set mileage, some cars are problematic before they leave the factory and some go over 500,000 miles. All cars will need maintenance and repairs and the difference between petrol and diesel these days is smaller than it has ever been.
I have a question about clutch and the bite point at a stop on a hill. Is it bad to use the footbrake then find the bite point; then when your ready to go, release the brake and press gas? I am a new manual driver I am just concerned about the longevity of the clutch with this method.
@@ConquerDriving ah thank you I've been searching for this exact video. Also, do experienced drivers use handbrake starts? I'm Canadian and was never really taught to drive manual.
Practise and help, get and and check if you need to, use reversing sensors to help you learn to judge space if you have them and practise clutch control somewhere quiet so you're easily able to keep the car slow.
Just give up cause you won't get out haha. But for real, keep the car rolling as slow as humanly possible and start steering back all the way before stopping and changing gear. The key is to steer back as late as possible while still getting enough angle on it that you don't have to shuffle a million times.
i passed my drivers license this morning and i’ve been watching your videos on all the stuff that i wasn’t sure about and it really helped me!!

Can someone please guide me
Sounds like you need some private practise in a friend or family members car or you need to get your instructor to take you out when you want. It's important to get used to busier traffic.
@@ConquerDriving yes I'll. Thank you
8:22 very hard for a begginer to come that close to a car withtout hitting it, it's way too hard to judge the distance and how close you actually are.

What about when you get complete idiots parking one or two inches from your front bumper and there is no room to reverse either; this has happened to me!
Then there is nothing you can do. I had someone park outside my driveway once and I couldn't get out.

Many times scumbags have blocked my driveway and it's mostly the next door neighbour that does it!
@@ConquerDriving many thanks for taking time to reply me. I really appreciate that. My test is on 11th November. I have learnt a lot from you.
Super 👍
How many miles does it take for a petrol car to break down? My car is a Peugeot 207 and it has already travelled roughly 96,700 miles
It's not bad but won't work in all cars, you need to learn the skill to drive all. This video may help ruclips.net/video/UdTSRBJrw7Y/видео.html
@@ConquerDriving ah thank you I've been searching for this exact video. Also, do experienced drivers use handbrake starts? I'm Canadian and was never really taught to drive manual.
If you feel embarrassed during shuffling, just think of Austin Powers, don't take life so serious and laugh about it :)
I get anxious reversing into parking spaces and on my drive. Any advice? Or is it just practice?
Practise and help, get and and check if you need to, use reversing sensors to help you learn to judge space if you have them and practise clutch control somewhere quiet so you're easily able to keep the car slow.
It'd be great parking/leaving tips for cars with no power steering lmao
Just give up cause you won't get out haha.
But for real, keep the car rolling as slow as humanly possible and start steering back all the way before stopping and changing gear. The key is to steer back as late as possible while still getting enough angle on it that you don't have to shuffle a million times.
Ur site is not protected i guess its saying attackers might steal ur information
Did you map your car
It is standard.
Nothing unusual in Paris or NYC.
