MSW Social Work Student Empowers Other Students | LaTeisha Graham

Lequita Brooks, LCSW, MSW, the talk show host of #thesocialworkmovement docuseries as part of Social Impact Sundays at 6, interviewed LaTeisha Graham, Aspiring Licensed Macro Social Worker.
I am wowed by LaTeisha Graham and excited to see her graduate, grow as a Social Worker, and get to live a life where she loves her career making great money, traveling for fun, practicing “real” self-care, and advocating for paid placements for social work students in Maryland.
LaTeisha found herself in a dark place and feeling really discouraged with navigating school and hearing all the negativity from current social workers, her field supervisor, and posts in social work groups about the social work profession.
LaTeisha’s story unfortunately is wayyy too common.
It is beyond time to dismantle all of the outdated social work narratives and for the voices of the bitter, broke, and burn-out social worker to be overthrown by social workers who actually love the profession.
This👆🏾is why I started #thesocialworkmovement to give hope, breathe life, and highlight social workers with varying, fulfilling careers to show the possibilities are infinite for social workers.
Thankfully, LaTeisha’s internal “why” was greater than all the external noise and she found her light to persevere not only for herself, to also empower other social work students to push forward along with provided practical strategies.✨🧘🏾‍♀️
