    Hi Carolyn, I am a BSW student entering my senior year (Thank God)! I am curious on what a course load with a concentration on administration and community practice look. My concentration use to be urban families, children, and youth but I’m migrating toward macro social work.

    • @carolynnicolev
      @carolynnicolev  2 года назад +1

      hello :) congrats on your achievements as a senior in your BSW program! the course load for macro includes: macro assessment, practice with organizations, practice with communities, policy analysis and development, and social work with diverse populations. hope this helps! :)

    Hi Carolyn! I love your videos. Would you have any tips for students who struggle with all of the reading involved with BSW/MSW? I have heard of some folks scanning their books and getting an e-reader. What are your thoughts on how to get a handle on all of this material?
    Thank you!

    • @carolynnicolev
      @carolynnicolev  2 года назад +3

      Hi Sara, thanks for watching! I would definitely recommend setting a reading schedule and reading goals planner! When I have articles and chapters to read, I typically plan out how I will divide the readings on the days of the week so that I don’t get overwhelmed reading so much at once! Setting goals is so important and feels so rewarding when you accomplish your readings. Hope this helps! 🤍

    im going to school for clinical mental health counseling and admire your passion! are you also working while in school? im starting a full-time job while starting grad school amd i'm nervous about the courseload. the job has tuition assistance and it's a fun job, so that's why i took it.

    • @carolynnicolev
      @carolynnicolev  2 года назад

      hi, and thank you so much! i worked part-time for the majority of my time in grad school with the exception of the semesters of my practicum. a full-time job will be challenging, but time management is key and makes it totally doable! the tuition assistance is amazing, and I definitely think it’s more than possible for you! I would highly recommend having a planner/google calendar that can map out all of your shifts/courses/homework so that you can visualize when to read/work on hw. that helped me a lot while I was working!! hope this helps :)✨

    • @carolynnicolev
      @carolynnicolev  2 года назад +4

      thank you so much and congrats!! the best piece of advice i could give is try to avoid procrastinating, and try to space out your readings and homework assignments throughout a week/2 weeks so that it’s not overwhelming if they’re all due around the same time! i started doing that in grad school and it helped decrease my stress levels TREMENDOUSLY. best of luck on your BSW! ✨

    I start my MSW in the fall at Michigan State do you have any tips?

    • @carolynnicolev
      @carolynnicolev  2 года назад +1

      i would definitely recommend finding what level of social work you want to focus on during your course work! whether that be macro, mezzo, or micro that interests you the most. although all classes are beneficial at any level, it's definitely a great idea to pick up the most useful tools and learning for your career specific to your field! also, try not to slack off with readings because they can definitely be overwhelming! i like to schedule out my readings throughout the week so i don't get burned out all at once. hope this helps! :)
