  • The new year, 2024, has begun and it's time for a fish room update. In this video we take a look at all my reef tank setups and we are adding something. This wasn't the plan, I already failed my new year's resolution!
    We're adding three new corals to my saltwater aquarium, including a very expensive coral called an OG Bounce mushroom coral.
    A few topics we cover in this video are:
    - Reef tank setup tour
    - Shallow reef tank setup
    - Adding corals to an aquarium

      Would you consider adding a bubble tip anemone to the soft coral tank? You could do a series on how to get your clownfish to host an anemone too :) would be a great centerpiece for the aquarium as well.

    Hi Danny, congrats on your reaching the mark of a 100.000 subscribers! You have worked hard to reach this goal and now you got there. Please don't skip altogether on making videos with classical music because many people (including me) liked them a lot. Your introducing palythoa in your containers (and Xenia) may supposed to be a beginner mistake. But don't throw the plays into the waste bin! You might end up hurting yourself, other people around, pets and waste bin collectors as this toxin is prone to remain active for days on. If you are sensitive (like me) I'd advise you to fully air the room (windows open, goggles on and wearing a gas mask with the appropriate new filters in them, air cleaner turned on in boost mode). The toxin is not only in the water but also airborne. Don't forget to use active carbon during and after. Speaking from experience I hope you will experience no health issues and have a happy new year...

    I love my OG bounce mushroom. Just be aware it will take a looooong time to split. Much longer than your jawbreaker mushrooms. I hope you got a good price on it. Definitely one of my favorite pieces as well!

    • @khrty9656
      @khrty9656 4 месяца назад

      You can force them to split by putting a small and tight rubber band through the middle of the mouth and it will split over time. If you don’t do that I have found that the OG bounces will just get really large (like 5 inches diameter) before dropping off babies. And when they do finally drop off babies they are like little black specks that don’t have any bounce bubbles so you would have to culture them for a while. It’s such a beautiful coral but such a pain to frag.

    I wouldnt be so quick to put 2 blennies in that tank. With a 5 foot 180g my bicolour blenny still hawks the lawnmower. Escenius blennies also arent the best for algae maintenance. A Tomini tang would be perfect instead of replacing the blenny. GL in the new year

    • @DannysAquariums
      @DannysAquariums  4 месяца назад

      Thanks, happy new year! I've had great success with them in the past when I was dealing with an algae problem. I think my tank is too small for any tang really. 120 x 45 x 30 cm. Thanks for the suggestion tho, I'll look into it! :D

    • @im160bpmplus
      @im160bpmplus 4 месяца назад

      @@DannysAquariums Dont get me wrong blennies are awesome algae control, but there are some like fangtooth that are not as good as the others. Rockskippers and Salaris are the best by far. I have 2 Escenius a Bicolour and a Midas and they are mainly free swimming and the lawnmower is grazing constantly. Also, dont forget you can get juveniles, I have a 2 inch Tomini and it wont outgrow your tank for 2 -3 years.

    Danny, im setting up a LPS/ Softie 40 gallow shallow with the dimensions of 100 x 50 x 30 cm and I'm on quite a tight budget, I was thinking 1 Jebao SLW-10 and a Jebao SCP-70 would this be good/sufficient. If not, what would you recommend
    Thanks

    • @Learning_The_Human_Mind
      @Learning_The_Human_Mind 3 месяца назад

      Hey ! I wanted to help you a little bit. I’d suggest that if you’re on a tight budget, you should look to keep your set up simple. I wouldn’t think about coral yet. I would suggest instead to spend the money on ocean live rock and keep your tank FISH ONLY WITH LIVE ROCK (FOWLR). It’s important you don’t overwhelm yourself in the hobby. Take it slow homie !

      His tank does have some wave makers, but not at the surface, hence no waves, I feel like the flow has to be under the water, and the surface can stay still, because he cleans the top with a surface skimmer every weeekk

    Je bakken zien er goed uit! Zonde van de Blenny die is gaan carpet surfen 😞 Ik heb ook een Red sea cover op mn bak, alleen die was niet specifiek voor een red sea model. Het was een soort doe het zelf set die je geheel naar eigen smaak kunt maken. Wat betreft de aiptasia, wat dacht je van een vijlvisje voor in je softie tank?? Super leuke en interessante beestjes met een leuk gedrag die graag een aiptasia lust :)
