This 4 cylinder with a performance pack with magnetic suspension must be a great value. I bet you couldn't get a turbo with all these features at this price point anywhere else. The v8 stang is strongly preferred by some because of nostalgia, but the world has changed and while the prior v6 was awesome and v8 is boss, this setup just make sense in today's world.
I'm probably going to get alot of hate for this but I'm trading in my 2011 5.0 GT for a 2018 Ecoboost performance pack with a 10speed auto next month. I'm really pumped.. I can't wait to own one of these.. been there and done that with the v8.. times are changing and so am I... plus I have other priorities lol.
Honestly that's a practical decision that you've made. You still get to keep the style and the fun of driving a Mustang is still there. I mean not that close to a V8 but the 2.3 Liter Turbo is not bad at all. Thinking of getting one as well.
Makes total sense. The V8 is a waste of money in my opinion, both because of gas, insurance and not going crazy speeds.
No hate here, I have a 2013 V6 and spend in the ball park of 250 - 300 a month in fuel cost. I'm really considering the EcoBoost too.

Marco brooo 25k is cheap for a car nowadays...I was looking at challengers and they’re 38k for a 2018 model and around the same price for a v6 (sxt) as the mustang but this car is a steal

I rented this for the weekend in Miami and it is much faster and more fuel efficient than my 2010 G37!
I own a V6 and when I drove this car it did seem smooth with very little lag. My issue was that with the four up front it felt to light. I know that sounds wrong but it felt so light and hollow vs. the bit of weight in my car.
I might buy this car for my gf as she likes the sports car but has always hated the mpgs. This just seems like great of both worlds.

I have a 2016 mustang EcoBoost rear car have no problems with it. I'm thinking about trading it in for the 2019 mustang EcoBoost .love you videos keep up the great work you do a great job
The paddle shifters work well in track mode but high revs is the key. As well I've found the trans needs to be warmed up. However, generally they are not that great.

What about the Pony Projection lamps!? I got my 2017 Pony later in the past year, and Ive been kicking myself since then for not waiting a little longer. The 2018 models added so many neat things! Love your channel. Stay gold!

With all the options you mentioned, it sounds like one could easily boost (pardon the pun) price up into the $38k range.

Karo French GM had a 340hp and 370lbft 2.0 Turbo back in 2005, this is nothing new and nothing special to be honest. We have 400hp factory turbocharged 4 cylinders now.
The 2015 lancer evo final edition has a turbocharged 4cyl with just over 400hp
I believe the 2005 v8 had 310hp. That’s pretty good progression in power and effeciency

How is this with snow on the ground? I have been eyeing the Challenger awd for handling in snow (I live around pgh) but I just love the look of the mustang

Not everyone can afford a GT so this makes me so happy that you still, albeit not AS fast (but still fast), get a quick cheaper mustang for much less than a GT
So I noticed this ecoboost has the back badge of a v6 did anyone else spot that? Is this available with the non pp ecoboost cause I know they have the individual horse for the 2018
Smurfeco 2.3 It's a pony package. which is now available in 2018 models.
that is a pretty efficient engine power to mpg wise. I can see why people would have want the v6 though. Mustang and 4cyl doesn't seem right. But I understand Ford wants to push smaller engines to their fullest potential and this translates to their V8 being even more efficient and powerful. This engine would probably be better reserved for a luxury model or sport focus.
This actually isn't the first 4cyl Mustang. The first turbocharged one yes, but not the first four cylinder. Its making more power than the V6 so there really wasn't a need for the V6 anymore. If you turbocharge a V6 then it'd be performing too closely with the V8 for what? 1/2 the price? That's why they killed the V6 off. I've got an EcoBoost and it's an amazing car. Go test drive one, it'll surprise you.

I thought the 2018 Ecoboost had the 10 speed auto? Or are you talking about similar tuning the GT has?
It was so windy I didnt hear the exhaust test. Is it quiet? Moderate? Loud?

Did the dealer add the side stripes and the traditional chrome Mustang grille insert ? I went on Ford.com to build a new 2018 Mustang and these were not offered as options. Just fender stripes if you order the black roof and black mags.

Great vid..this is the first 2018 ive seen with the pony package wich includes the chrome window trim, the pony coral grille and the chrome wheels. Does any one know why you cant build the mustang with that package on ford.com? This video has resparked my interest in the pony package anyway, looks great, even in the snow!

Nice review Drew. Was the mustang a special edition because I notice the lettering inserts on the doors and the silver grill accent around the running pony.
This one had what's called the, "Pony Package" which adds the corral grille design (pays homage to the Stang's from the 60's) and also adds the chrome beltline around the windows the Mustang logo at the bottom and unique 19" wheels as well... Probably should have mentioned all that in the vid... haha

wait, does this car has the pony package? I see the chrome encircled pony in the front and chrome window trims. But this option is not available for either GT or ecoboost model when I'm trying to spec the car on ford official website. Somebody educate me plz

So how can I add that feature to my car? I was at the dealer last week, the sales person I talked to never even heard of pony package before... Do I have to force the sales person to call the ford manufacture headquarter and manually add the pony package to the car? Because I really want that feature on my next mustang
I need help. I'm going to college and always wanted a muscle car and the 3 affordable decisions were mustang, camero, and challenger how ever the challenger was way too heavy and bad with gas out of the 3. The camero has no space in the back for my friends and the seat belt gets in the way so the mustang was the obvious choice.
I can afford the GT and the ecoboost fully loaded paying per month with me working partime as a medical receptionist and the help of my dad. The problem here is I don't know wether to get the eco boost or the GT, get them manual or automatic and I have never driven a manual, or get a convertible or coupe.
The convertible gives space for my friends but it hurts fuel economy especially in the GT. Keep in mind I do live in California so I don't have to turn on the A/C when I have the roof up. I would love to learn how to drive an manual but it's slower and I'm scared to be stuck in traffic with it. Finally if I get the eco boost it would be a good idea for fuel economy, I would get it as a convertible for space for my friends, cheaper than the GT, and reasonably fast.
Obviously you would think I would go with that option but the eco boost gets so much hate that it might not be worth it. Also the GT sounds amazing and not comparable to the eco boost but I'm not always going to be speeding since I don't want to get tickets. I will be living in a dorm going to my partime job, going on dates with my girlfriend, and going back to vegas to see my parents every summer.
Which is the best option here for my situation here??
P.S I'm not spoiled. I worked hard getting this car and I even work partime in college when most people in my school ask their parents for everything! Seriously have u been at Stanford. Also I know mustangs are not bought thinking for gas but I always wanted one and I have to be conservative.
The Mustang GT is a fair bit more powerful then the EcoBoost... However you normally get about 17MPG in mixed driving with the GT... the EcoBoost got about 27 in mixed driving. That is a 10 MPG difference in fuel economy... AND to be honest unless you are the type that "needs" a V8 in your car to make you happy, the EcoBoost is a great compromise for performance to fuel economy.
Now if it was my money and my choice I would get the Lexus IS 300... YES while the Lexus IS it is not an American Muscle car... it is a Japanese sports car, and a really nice one at that, with plenty of room for friends, better built then anything from the American companies.. Oh and the Mustang is really not a "Muscle" car anymore... not with the way it handles and performs. But hey that is just my opinion on the topic

The Focus RS actually sounds better with this engine and it’s a transverse AWD, seems like Ford could’ve done better with the exhaust note on a RWD Mustang since RWDs have fewer restrictions. Seems like they could’ve tweaked the ecu or something without compromising mpg too much.
It boils down to pipe diameter and what is used to control the volume of sound. I have heard a few EcoBoost mustangs with good 3" Turbo back aftermarket exhaust... and I can tell you that they sound really good (for a 4 cylinder)

I own an Ecoboost. Beware of maintenance. If you do not tend to everything on this motor it will give you issues. Perfect oil changes at 5k with full synthetic, spark plugs every 10k, get an oil catch can and clean it religiously, get the cylinders walnut blasted or manually clean the carbon build up every 50k, if you don't you will get detonation and misfires, this is where the engine cracked between cylinders 2 and 3 on the back side of the block. Make sure your dealership is cool with mods, you will mod it! It's a good engine but she's a super model that needs a lot of attention and maintenance. This is the life of a short block with a turbo and high pressure, you have to take extreme care of this motor. If you don't have that kind of dedication don't buy it.
Can you try getting your hands on a Stinger or a Abarth?
Possibly may try driving the Stinger tomorrow...We shall see! :-)

Get some snow tires for snow, but even with the all seasons ours did well this winter.

Cermet, ours has been. If you break it in correctly and do proper maintenance they’ll be just as reliable as every other engine. The turbochargers need replaced every 150k-200k miles but that isn’t too bad.
