If you put S&S on exterior, the interior pocket can be used to turn the bag through using the placard type zipper style. Love the way you explain the process of making changes to any tote!
I just found you and love the way you explain things. I’ve subscribed now and will be watching more of your videos. You had me at “if you don’t like this, stop watching”. I love it! Tell ‘em Nancy!
Found this video just in time...getting ready to make a tote for my sister and you taught me some good tricks here tonight!! THANK YOU!!!! Always seem others outing the stablizer/ interfacing on the out side, but inside like you did it here looks so much easier, going to do it this way instead...and adding a zipper😮😮 wow looks easy!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO SAVING IT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have rewatched this three times now and I've made notes all over my pattern. Tomorrow the sewing begins! I'll post some pictures on the FB page. Thanks for a great instructional video... as always!
Great tutorial. I have 2 totes I haven’t made. Now I have a tutorial to go by. Thank you. Wait for the pattern to be back in stock to purchase. 💕 I did share it. Thanks again!
I just found you, Nancy, and although I've been quilting for 10+ years, you've taught me new things. Thanks for the tips and tricks on the bags. I will definitely use them!
Hi Nancy, love this tote tutorial. I am in the process of the zipper placement and behold......🤩🤩🤩🤩you have shone me the light!,lol thank you so much🥳🥳🥳🥳
Love your beautiful fabrics choices , you always use such fun & trendy picks. Totes are very nice, I’ll be sharing with me daughter , she the tote bag maker. Thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊
Great tips Nancy. Thanks for the zipper tutorial. I like the fact that I can go back and add it to totes I've already made. Never thought to use separating zipper but would be so useful and create easy access.
Enjoyed this tutorial! Absolutely going to add zippers to my totes. First pattern that I've seen with stabilizer attached to lining not outer fabric. Fun to know we have the same Birthday!! Man walked on the moon! Thanks for sharing your techniques!
Hi Nancy I was surfing and found you. This has been exactly what I was looking for to correct some errors I made yesterday when I was trying to make a tote bag. When I finished it..... OMG it was horrible a total disaster. Now thanks to you I will go and restart my project. Thank You this was terrific. Actually I am going to go looking at the patterns and order one with the kit. Linda from Camano Island WA.
Thank you Nancy. I will definitely use your tips on a bag I'm making this week. I made a couple this spring but your technique will make it much easier and a more professional looking bag 😊
Great tutorial. I found your alterations/additions (i.e. pockets, zipper, etc) to the pattern great ideas and can be used for most tote bags. Glad I found you!!!! Hope you decide to do a video at some point on tote bags using with denim pieces :)
I think the white tool you used is a hera marker. I love to make bags and totes and always use zippers and pockets. Nice & informative video. I use soft and stable on the outer fabric and a medium weight interfacing on the lining fabric (which does allow you to leave an opening for turning) and have very good results with that method. Your color choices are so cool! Thanks!
This tutorial was excellent! I got the pattern, chose the fabrics from my stash and made a beautiful tote bag with outside pocket, 2 inside pockets. Everything lined up perfectly for me and I was so pleased ... until I tried to sew in the zipper. I just could not keep my stitching straight. The bag would not go easily around the open arm of my sewing machine, mostly because the zipper was closed at one end. The stitch line on the outside was just all over the place. Any suggestion on how to sew that? Do you do it from the inside? I would appreciate any assistance.
Great video with awesome tips! Would you please advise how you would add an internal pocket with a zip? I'm unsure how you'd sew the zip to the lining? Thanks.
@@QuiltingWithNancy Thanks very much for replying to my question Nancy. I'm unsure how to attach it to the lining, would it be the back side of the zip to the lining or the top side of the zip (if that makes sense?).
This was the best instructions on this tote bag..thank you very very much 🤗🌻
You’re welcome 😊
I like it, "if you don't like it, stop watching!" Just found you and am having a viewing marathon.

Thank you, Nancy, the zipper tutorial was great. I have several tote bags that let everything either fall out or be seen. Terrific.
Thanks!

Hi Katherine - I do stitch it from the inside :) ruclips.net/video/G1e-RYnM7Qo/видео.html
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Could you do an expandable shoppingbag? Would really like one please 😜/Gisela in Sweden 🇸🇪
I think you could just enlarge this pattern - it's a very straight forward design.
Love all of your tips 💜 Did you use a 16" zipper?
Hi Donna, Honestly, I'm not sure of the size, just reached into my zipper box and there is was - the wonders of a stash :)
I love the bag and how you construct it. Can I have the dimensions Nancy? Thank you.
Hi Mildred - they are in the pattern available at www.firesidequilts.com
Great video with awesome tips! Would you please advise how you would add an internal pocket with a zip? I'm unsure how you'd sew the zip to the lining? Thanks.
attached one side of the zipper to the top of the pocket and then attached the other side of the zipper to the lining itself. Does that help?
@@QuiltingWithNancy Thanks very much for replying to my question Nancy. I'm unsure how to attach it to the lining, would it be the back side of the zip to the lining or the top side of the zip (if that makes sense?).
How would you do it if you want to quilt the outside of the bag?
With this style you would have to put the “batting”; not Soft & Stable; on the tote front and quilt that without the lining.
I missed the party!
