Love New Order & the Pet Shop Boys! 70s & 80s music was most influential for me, which covered my teenage & early adult years. Still love it just as much.

Love my 80’s music! It’s going to be difficult to declutter…but I will try! 😄 Thanks for sharing! 🩷

I literally wore out my REO Speedwagon cassette tape in the 80's. 😂😂😂 I was totally obsessed with it😂

Decision fatigue is real! I have cds in my car. There is something to be said about listening to the songs on an album in the order that the artist released it.

I still have all kind of media: records, cassettes, CDs, VHS and DVDs (plus Nintendo video games) and all of the equipment from the 80s and 90s to play them 😅 it takes up a lot of space, but I decluttered media that wasn’t that special, so I can have a great collection of only my favorite things. I don’t find everything that I like on streaming services. Or I would have to get so many different subscriptions. Also, the content (especially movies) changes a lot. Therefore I still keep my favorites. But I have no problem getting rid of other things 😅

Congratulations to you for 21 years of marriage !.....YAYYYY!!
This will tell my age, but, I had to laugh when I heard you mention "reel to reel".
When I was a young child, one of our church members brought a reel to reel machine to church
...compared to cd players...., those were huge!
Funny, that you would talk on this subject, today.
    I enjoy classical, Christian and
Christmas music.....and, at one time had quite a few CDs.
Gradually, I have let many of them go.
One, I'm a pianist....who enjoys playing some classical.
Mainly, my piano world is engulfed in worship music....and hymns..and, with KLOVE radio station and RUclips music( and others) around.. the need to hang onto recorded music is basically nill.
This last major decluttering session allowed me to really see these CDs in the way that you are referring...I really never thought I would let so many of them go....but, space and interest prevailed.
As you said, each one must make that decision for themselves.
Like you, I am trying to live more "minimal like"....and, with each tossed possession more peace is the result.
I love your upbeat positive demeanor.
Thank you for sharing your life and wisdom with us. ❤

I atttended the U of Toronto & remember the band Toronto, which was at their peak around that time. My older sister still has their cassette tapes, I believe. Thanks for the "blast from the past"!

I was born in 1962. Old school rocker. Led Zeppelin, The Who, Peter Frampton, Cream, CCR, Elton John, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Alabama, Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Van Halen, you know the lust goes on and on.

My husband is 16 years older than me, and our taste in music hardly overlaps at all. I’m all about 80’s and he’s into smooth jazz.
    Ugh 😑
But we both like a lot of the same classic rock.

I’m American (live in FL) and have NEVER heard of someone saying NirvAna. I’ve only heard it said the way you say it, Robyn 😅. Btw I am your age and totally understand what you mean about 90s music 😊

I’m American in Ohio. I say it like you Robin as well. I think maybe some American is playing a joke on you. 😂

I cringe when I listen to the 50’s and early 60’s music. My sons were growing up in the 70’s and 80’s. I have a Garth Brooks CD that I will not elimate. Everyone panned it but I love it. He does multiple genres.

I need to let go of the tapes, I still have some CDs and a player, but I have zero way to play tapes anyway. I also have a couple of books still that need to go. Favorite tapes were New Kids on the Block, a little later Tory Amos. I will get those tapes and books gone this weekend. My Mother still has all her records from the late 1970s. I don't need to hang onto these items. All my favorite bands are online. We decluttered DVDs 5 years ago with even thinking twice.

It's Nirv"awnna". That's one time US & Canada agree on a pronunciation... unlike mazda, etc.

FYI - Value Village sells them. I actually know people who still own & use their VHS player. My sister has a big collection of VHS Disney & other kids' movies that her family loves to watch together.
