  • There are lots of EDC tools we carry every day as cops. This, I think, is the most important one to keep with you.

    As a police Field Training Officer (FTO) o get asked my opinion on many topics both by probationary police officers, security folks, and "normal" people. Police Training is of interest to a wide variety of people for many reasons. Sometimes the line between the need for gear and the need for skills is blurred... sometimes it is painfully clear.

    Mr. Tommy, I'm the person that sent you that e-mail a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for responding back. I made a RUclips account so I can like your videos now. Thanks again for the videos!

    Long time watcher, first time I've felt like commenting. I really enjoy your practical outlook (emergency lights video; necessity vs expediency as well as streamlined edc). this video reminds me of a clip on the "COPS" tv show where the suspect, then officer jump a short gate and the camera man simply opens it and proceeds.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  8 лет назад +1

      +Graham Ramsden It happens all the time in real life. The young blood is running and jumping and the old timers are driving and kicking. Lol. Those camera men on "cops" have probably seen more foot chases than many police officers have.
      If you like the vids that much PLEASE comment more often. Every comment helps suggest the videos to more people and spread the word about reasonableness in LE and security work.

      +free field training, Well here's to hoping I'll be lucky enough to have an FTO with tips this good.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  8 лет назад

      +C. Schultz Hopefully you get three or four of them so you learn a bunch of different ways to do things. That is the strength of the FTO program and the big training downside of some really small agencies.

    hahaha Awesome! Ill admit I suspected something to that effect, just from the latch construction (I'm in Atlantic Canada - and I've never seen a gate like that before) Love the videos! Keep um coming!!

      +Tank 135a Those are everywhere here in the Midwest. And people put locks on them. O just laugh.

    • @AnInnocentLittleBoy
      @AnInnocentLittleBoy 8 лет назад +1

      I am also from Atlantic Canada and as a security worker that has to practically close gates for a living I can confirm this. They usually have two holes that you have to line up and put the lock through.

    I like the tip.. But where I worked security the boss or senior management would have a stroke about "damaging their property". I worked with guys 20+ years younger than me and they would fly over fences.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  7 лет назад

      +Michael Borawski eh, ain't nothing damaged here, but I get your point. I'm too old and think far too much to go jumping fences.

      Expolsives are just such a pain to store and carry. You have to have the magazine certified and it has to be lined with 3/4 inch ply and on casters and near a rolling door or mounted perminant outside . Then you have to get a shooters certificate....blah blah blah... pain in the butt.

    • @freefieldtraining
      @freefieldtraining  8 лет назад

      +James Vlogs Well, that isn't really enough information to decide. A petty criminal could tell me that over the phone from Florida or a convicted prior murderer with a rifle could scream it at me while holding a hostage. Like most things the totality of the circumstances determines the seriousness and response.
