  • I had a problem with my Excalibur 2 the last hunt. I was noisy when used on water from waist deep especially if hit by the waves. I was setting my sensitivity to auto all the time. This time I ried to figure out the problem and I discovered that the noise stops in lower sensitivity. The highest sensitivity I can use underwater is only 5 but I used 7 when it was new and always in auto. Is is the coil problem or the knob for sensitivity. Please let me know how did you solve this problem in case you encountered like this before.

I also have the same problem sometimes. It will start making noise if I swing it too hard underwater or if I rub it on the ground too hard. Next time this happens I will try to lower the sensitivity like you said👍

yes it helps and one thing I discovered, you can turn down the threshold. no more noise but you can still get a target. I always hunt without a threshold before so I don't know when the noise problem started.

Honestly I think that your detector is suffering some form of sensitivity knob issue... Usually the Excal on 6 or 7 sens. is a quiet machine depending by the soil you're searching .
Also, if You put the autosensitivity on, You can estimate a medium of 5 wich is naturally stable in pretty every kind of environment (even too for my taste).
Try to reduce as much as you can the threshold and slowly raise up the sensitivity...At the first false signal happen, turn it down a little bit..
    Hope it helps.
I miss so much that beauty..
Minelab is forcing us to use those fuck....g all terrain machines, but is doing nothing serious for us divers.
    Good luck mate!

Thank you for the insight Sir,I think you are right. I disassemble it and found out a shorted IC due to corrosion maybe a little leak from the knob. The o-ring was already broken. I ordered a new o-ring, I cleaned the IC and now working but not yet re assembled, still waiting for my sealant ordered online to seal it and retest. For now I bought a 2nd hand excalibur and used it for the first time and already paid itselt for the finds on the 1st hunt. If I fix this one I can use alternately. By the way the first problem of the excalibur is the cracking cable. My newly bought one was used only around 60 hours but already a 3year old machine and after the first use the hp cables already got more cracks. I will replace the cable with the one I made.

Sometimes you have to sacrifice some sensitivity to knock out the overload. since your finds are close to the surface that should not effect you locating objects. 🎧🔊🔊💰💰💰💰✔

Thanks. I think the auto got shorted with 10 that is why when in auto it's like full sensitivity

@@MetalDetectingBenj Don't alternate your detectors, but your batteries.
Leave one as a backup and use the two batteries to reduce the charge/discharge cycles.
Most important thing, never go under 12V.
Check your voltage assuming almost 14V for a healthy battery when fully charged.
      You'll see what a difference!

Yes its same my problem with Excalibur machine thats why im already sell it and buying the equinox machine its great than it with no noise even you put the sensitivity high 25 its quite machine .

    • @MetalDetectingBenj

I sold my Equinox 800 because I always hunt up to neck deep which is more difficult for me using the nox. The guy who bought it found good stuff that paid his nox many folds after few months. I know the nox is great machine but it is about the user to like it or not. I don't think to get another nox. Vanquish I think is not for me also but will wait to see review from water hunters to decide.I also solved the problem of my sea hunter earlier. I tested here before this video.

Your wasting a lot of time finding the target. Get a pinpointer.

    • @MetalDetectingBenj
      @MetalDetectingBenj  4 года назад

I don't usually dive. Just this time because I did not bring my scoop. This just to test my machine to confirm the trouble so I did it. pinpointer is useless when I hunt with scoop up to neck deep water without diving
