    This scene is powerful on a rewatch when you realize just how close their family was at the beginning of the show. Walter and Hank are such good friends that Hank’s partner is at his birthday party and they casually invite him on a ride along to see them at work. Walt mentioned that he’s been to the DEA Christmas parties and all of Hank’s coworkers pitch in to donate money for his cancer treatment. He’s a little bit of an odd person, but I imagine that Hank always bragged about how smart his brother in law was.
    Hank and Walter Jr are really close too and he gives him life lessons for his own good. He treats him like a son.

      Yes its very VERY tragic. Walt might have gotten his family millions but not only are they traumatized and broken, they also lost Hank who could have been the perfect father figure to both Flynn and Holly after Walt's death. Walt really should have stopped after his first transaction with Gus, he had more or less the amount of money that he calculated his family needed (737k) then

    • @TheShanicpower

      The ultimate irony of Walt is that he already did have the things he wanted at the beginning of the series, and only went to lose of all of it through his own actions. Everyone in his family and friend circle loved and respected him, but he threw it away.

    • @GregXHunterz
      @GregXHunterz 8 месяцев назад +8

      @@TheShanicpower The first episode of breaking bad was supposed to show how Walt's life is emasculated though tbh I had trouble understanding that. Yea he has a crappy job as a teacher and car attendant, but a lot of ppl work jobs they don't like just to support their family. Even Hank doesn't truly despise Walter, just saw him as harmless (nothing wrong with that.) There's also Skylar who seems to be more decisive out of the 2 (though she could've put her laptop aside to focus more on her husband, and for Walt's part, he could've communicated to Skylar about putting the laptop away and focus on him during his bday). In the grand scheme of things, there's nothing wrong with that. Walt has the desire to be seen as a man of his house and respected for his chemistry abilities. With that being said, Walt actually could've had all of that when Elliott and Gretchen offered him to work at Gray Matter again.

Whoever was on Walt's side, whoever despised Skyler cannot deny that everything Walt did was leading to this point. And with this knowledge, this undeceived vision of the show, how can there be so many people that still loathe Skyler so much to the point of sending death threats to her actress? When Walt gets in a panic, he, like everyone else, acts without thinking. If he thought about it, he would have known Jack would've done what he did and wouldn't have called.

In this episode, we see Walt continue with these horrible actions, but instead of seeing them from his POV and seeing him as still cool, we see him for what he always was. A monster. He fought Skyler, and more than likely had it not been for Walt jr., he may have killed her, then we see him literally kidnap holly and continue to drive away as Skyler is screaming and begging Walt to not take her. As Skyler is left standing in the street in shock and horror after the events that just unfolded, we as the viewers are left feeling just the same as her as we realize Walt was always a monster and always had no remorse.
