Also skipped over Michonne calling out to Rick, "Use the wall, use them!!" Rick immediately responds and down comes the trash and down goes the walker!!! Team work!!! The cat was a sweet gesture. He replaced the multi-colored cat Michonne nabbed when she and Carl were on a run to get a picture of Lori for Judith.
Scene: after carl got shot in the eye and rick carried him inside so that Denise could save his life

The entire show revolves around the question of whether you are willing to sacrifice your humanity in order to survive. Some groups are willing to do inhuman things. (Wolves, Terminus, Saviors) Some are not. (The Kingdom, Alexandria so far)
Carol is being faced with this question. It's fine to say "Daryl should tell her because she will do what she has to do." But you absolutely MUST admit at that point that you want Carol to sacrifice her humanity for survival...the show explicitly has presented this as the consequence.

I started watching TWD at the beginning of this season, mainly so I can keep up and look forward to your reactions to it. Been refreshing all day waiting to see this pop up in subscriptions.
Yay been looking forward to this. Love the colour of Navis dress and Ranas top, very pretty ladies. I loved this episode. I think the new group are going to be amazing. Jadis has such a strong presences, the way she moves and talks, I love her already. The metal walker scene was so great but the highlight for me in this episode was the Daryl/Carol reunion, holy crap I needed that. Glad he didnt tell her what happened. So excited to see where this all leads.

Daryl made the right call. No doubt. If he would have told Carol she would become nothing. She'd be a shell of herself. She'd just start become a machine. He just wants to protect her. I don't see her holding that against him when she finds out. She knows him well enough to know his intentions were good. He's always had good intentions when it comes to Carol.

I don't know if Tara is going to out right tell Rick about Oceanside and thier guns or maybe go back herself and let them know of a plan to get rid of the saviors but Oceanside is going to get into the picture soon.As long as it's a reasonable plan where they think there's a fighting chance to win I think Oceanside would be in.They have to want vengeance losing all there males 10+ years...btw,I really thought Benjamin was going to die to get Ezekiel in the fight but after Daryls comment to Richard about dieing for the Kingdom,i really think Richard is going to make a self sacrifice.
Carol doesn't want to kill. If she knew, she would kill. Daryl knows this, ergo he did not tell her. Seems pretty simple to me.
Clearly they will get the weapons from Oceanside. Perhaps the women of Oceanside don't want to fight, but they could be persuaded to deliver the weapons.
The war isn't going to start until Season 8, because you've got 4, potentially 5 settlements coming together to fight. That's thousands of people. I feel like they want to wait until they have the budget to make this a "war" show, which they will be more capable of doing next season. As you guys joked, plenty of this season's budget is going into that tiger and whatever action they can use to build up the conflict. I'd rather they do that than blow the rest of their budget and have the war feel meh. If you've read the All-Out War arc in the comics, you know the build up is honestly worth it.

The scavengers did have guns I remember at the end of 7x09 when they got surrounded, they just don't have enough guns.
P.S. 'The Scavengers' look like District 12 from Hunger Games.
They need to find a military town maybe leftover weapons would be there or they should go to DC (I know it sounds dumb) but I feel like if there is an abundant amount of guns laying around it'd be in DC b/c well hell the presidents lived in DC so we know for a fact that military would be in close vicinity of the white house.

Sad theory: Both Ezekiel and Morgan have one thing in common: Carol. I think Negan was looking for Daryl in Carol's house somehow (on the episode 11 teaser). The thing is, Carol is pretty much broken. She either doesn't join the war and is useless for the rest of the show, or maybe she does and ends up dying, literally or just on the inside. The thing is, I don't think she can survive season 8, if not season 7... What if Carol is both Morgan and Ezekiel's incentive to join the battle? I mean, Morgan doesn't have anything else, he killed someone and lost his stick, only Carol remains. And Ezekiel is (maybe) in love(ish)...?
Even if she joined the war and survived, it wouldn't make sense for her to be mentally stable for the rest of the series, so if she is gonna die, why not kill her now and give her death a meaning?
Just leaving that out there. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see her get killed by Negan, but it makes way too much sense if the Kingdom is to join the fight...

Carol knows that group lost people. She knows, that's why she broke down when she asked Daryl. She just didn't want to hear it. So basically she will show up in the final battle, but will work as a solo, just as she did in Terminus.
Plus perhaps Daryl needs to die to finally trigger Morgan and Carol. He has the strongest plot armour of them all.

You all said it yourself, they have an unconditional love for one another. Carol is completely broken down and Daryl will not bring her down further, of course he lied to her. Anyone else in the group, except Morgan, would have told Carol. But Daryl and Morgan care too much about her to kill her spirit.

That scene with Daryl warning Richard about Carol and the line about being struck by lightning was totally a nod to The Godfather when Don Vito warns the heads of the Five Families that he will hold them accountable if any harm comes to Michael after Michael kills Sollozo and McCluskey.
At the moment, I'm thinking of the new group as insane asylum escapees. =P

I agree with Mickey that it wouldn't have been a decision for Carol. There was no choice for her. Once she learns that Abraham and Glenn were killed, she would fight. She said that. And she also said that if she fights, she would lose the little of herself that's left.
Chris is right. Carol put Daryl in an awkward position when she asked him if everyone's ok. And that's a bit unfair. Because in essence, she is putting the decision, the choice into Daryl's hand. If Daryl says the truth, Carol fights and loses herself. If Daryl hides the truth, she stays where she is. And Daryl chose the latter. The reason being - he cares for her and wants to grant her what she apparently wants. She left, right? She had to, she said. She keeps asking for people to leave her alone...
While I agree she has the right to know, well... they can tell her later. If they tell her now, she'll have to fight. But if they take care of the problem first, and tell her after Negan is dead and gone, then she would still find out, but at that point where she wouldn't need to fight anymore because the problem's gone.
Yes, sure, that can lead to other problems. She can say, why didn't you tell me earlier, I could have helped. But after the fact, they can at least say, well... I just didn't want to you feel pressured into fighting, I didn't want you to lose yourself completely. And she might be grateful for that, even a little...
Is it more selfish not to tell Carol? I don't know. That Daryl didn't tell Carol is him thinking more about Carol. That doesn't sound selfish to me, sounds more like selfless. I guess you can say, well it is selfish because he didn't think of the group. But wait... he is part of the group. So if the group is the 'self' vs. Carol, then in a (lame, I guess, fine!) way, it's still more selfless than selfish. Like I said, I don't know. =P In any case, telling Carol just because she's an army unto herself is like treating her as a weapon not as a friend/family, especially after she told you she'd lose herself.
