Keep in mind that there is a difference between cleave that dictates how many enemies you can pierce in one attack and the armor penetration that dictates how easily you can crack that armor open. For instance the shield and hammer is good at killing hordes with high cleave while the shield and axe are great against armored targets but don't work well against hordes because of bad cleave. Armored targets incude: Rattling gunners, warpfire throwers, Stormvermin, Chaos warriors, maulers (only the head). However weapons with bad cleave usually tend to have not only better armor piercing but also higher shield breaking potential and damage. Different attacks with the same weapon can have very different properties though. The stamina, effective block and shove angle are not the only measure of defense for a weapon. The lighter your weapon the better it is at dodging. This includes dodge distance but also the amount of effective dodges you can do in a row. Shoves are better than blocks if you manage to stagger your opponent. It creates more space and buys time, cancels other attacks you didn't see coming or even attacks that were meant for a teammate. Good luck shoving a chaos warrior though. Berserkers and plague monks require patience. It's not a bad idea to just block/dodge them and let a teammate handle attacking them. Consider using your ultimate to either kill or stagger them. Also... don't eat overhead strikes. Storm vermin, Maulers and chaos warriors all have them and they are truly nasty. Get into the habit of avoiding them at all costs because they are easy to dodge, hard to block and can almost oneshot you on higher difficulties. It's a bad idea to look at your statboard at the end of the mission too much. If you want to achieve something great there try to minimize your damage taken or maybe specials killed. Don't minimize your damage taken by not helping the team though. It's a bad idea to trade hits in this game. If you do then make sure you're in a situation where it's either very very important you get that guy dead (like a low health troll) or you are in a situation where you can generate massive amounts of temporary hp anyway AND there is a significant benefit to it. For instance a slayer might want to jump into a horde with his ult and take some hits to the back before his teammates can help him because this allows him to kill so much that his ult stays active permanently and you can beat the horde back to a saver position. Note that "beat the horde back" does not suffice for taking such a risk. It's the "saver position" that justifies the play.
Important thing to note: the blightstormer's tornado follows the exact same rules for movement as other enemies, so it's can't go over any terrain to make a straight line to your location. This is crucial to be able to avoid it when you have to deal with a horde at the same time.
09:01 "If you're a tank you should always try to get the bosses attention" DO NOT do that on Legend or Cataclysm; People will get mad at you if you take boss aggro from boss dps (especially headshot dependent ones like Bounty Hunter or Piercing Shot Waystalker). Just let them do their thing
Yes, it is dependent on the situation, though. If you have an Ironbreaker and a Shade it works fine, but if you have a waystalker and an ironbreaker it is better to just keep the mobs away from the dmg-dealer.
'ironbreaker is the best anchor a team can have' i mean at pure defence i agree completely, but as a foot knight main i would like to say there are other equally powerful anchors for slightly different scenarios. They can all tank, they can all clutch, and they are all important. PLAY ANCHORS PEOPLE
I realised how impotant having an anchor is when i used my shield bash on a patrol to immobilise the entire elite group and other teammates demolished the entire patrol in seconds. If used my Exec Swords charged attacks sure it one shots elites but we would be surrounded very fast. As almost all the Vermintide Vets say finishing the mission is more impotant than getting the most kills.
I got over 1k hours in Darktide and its making me wanna play V2 again, havent played vermintide since its launch, but this definitely has me wanting to play it again!
Bonus Tips: *They're always behind you. (always check your back) *Save incindiary for Patrols(if you can't avoid them) and bombs for Bosses. *Don't spam attacks. practice on your defense(Blocking, Pushing, Dodging) as it will come in handy especially in higher difficulties(Slayers and Zealots are exempted because offense is their only defense lol) *Don't be that selfish player who hogs all healing items (healing self then taking another healing item, leaving none for players who need it the most). *Don't be that player who prioritizes the score over teamwork(specially in higher difficulties), scoreboard doesn't matter nor does it give you better rewards, completing the mission does. *When being targetted by a boss, don't hit back, blocking and dodging is key, leave the damage dealing to your other teammates, when the boss changes target you can start dealing damage again.

I think its really important that you need to mention standard bearers in the elite sections because holy FUCK they are a massive run ender solely because new players dont bother tsking down their standards, makes hordes borderline impossible to kill
I sadly forgot to mention them. I agree they are a big problem. I think they are even in the Category of Special not an Elite. But sadly I can't just add them to the Video now 😕.
'the zealot is a glass cannon'... excuse me, what? He's literally living off thp, can straight out ignore fatal dmg all the while boosting his own dmg output. His survivability and the resulting gameplay is literally bordering on being a meme unless you play on Cata + (i.e. Weaves or Modded.) All in all nice effort on the guide but... if you're a beginner starting with Vermintide there's more comprehensive guides out there from people with more experience. If you're intermediate and wanna step up your game... there's more comprehensive and detailed mechanics guides (as in literally libraries worth of knowledge) out there from people with.. you guessed it, more experience. Still giving a thumbs up for covering Vermintide at all. ;)
I could have talked about the zealot for 5-10 min alone but I decided not to. Attention span is to short in most people out there. I internationally didn't go into detail with most things. This guide is meant to give people a fundament to build apon, not to talk about every detail I learned while playing the game out of a passion. But thanks for taking the time and writing a comment I appreciate it.
Oof, greathammer>halbert hahaha…no. Halbert is great at horde clear, elite/monster dmg the only problem it has is it got power crept by Bret Longsword, Greathammer on cata will have you overwhelmed cuz you are not killing fast enough. Shields have shield bash for hordes but i guess you were trying to explain cleave vs armor pen so an oversight I guess Zealot glass cannon? Just no that title belongs to Bounty Hunter, Zealot has tons of survivability. An ok introduction video, pretty good explanation of the basics, but it does have some bias that could be seen as misinformation. Im guessing you play mostly on Legend cuz some of the things you omitted aren't too much of an issue until you try Cata.
I prefer the halberd over the hammer as well. I wasn't saying it's better, I just tried to take two weapons that most players definitely played, no matter the experience. Halberd is the better weapon, but harder to use for the broad player base than the great hammer. I sadly never had people experienced enough around me to constantly win in Cataclysm or Legendary. Explaining Zealot in a video that talks about so many topics at once will bore the majority of viewers, that's why I kept it short. If you are not good and play Zealot, you will die in no time, that's what I meant with glass cannon. Overall, this Video is meant for people who want to level up their skills, not for people who already have their play style figured out. It's meant to give players, getting into Vermintide II, a good fundament to build on.
@@ToBeGoated Fair enough, GH does perform good enough on lower difficulty. I still think Zealot could have used better wording, lower HP for dmg boost is a common enough mechanic in games nowadays to be understood easily by most player. As for getting better in Legend or Cata, my recommendation is to just unshackle yourself from the vault farming mentality, just play on Legend and Cata. You will lose a lot but it will also force you to become good very quickly, and by not farming you will not be annoyed by the lost of book. Vaults are quantity over quality anyways and by getting better you'll get a steady stream of them instead of the occasional Emp vault.
Hey! Rly good vid. I'm a new player, spent like 20-30h with the game and so far rly rly enjoying it. Wanted to ask the numeric hp-s and the teammate cd-s and ammos are some kind of mods, or a setting what i missed? If they are mods, how to get them and install them? PS: We can also play a drinking game. Whenever you say "before they became a problem" everybody drinks. :D
You can change it in the UI settings. The Game also allows you to fit it like a glove. You want less head bobbing? There is a slider for it. You want less camara distortion when dodging? There is a slider for it. You get the deal. Its highly costomizable. Glad you liked the Video! Hope I could help!
is it just me or does the gameplay look slowed down at points? i mean like the footage itself was slowed down in editing, not that the player is being slow/methodical (though there's no shame in doing that if you prefer to play that way). anyway, something not quite about gameplay but just as important imo: don't leave a game until it's over! i see way too many people drop out of games when there is 1 person left. never underestimate someone's ability to clutch a game; handmaidens, ironbreakers, foot knights, and battle wizards are practically guaranteed to save a "doomed" game in the right hands.

Really nice video! Thanks so much for the good advice. Vermintide 2 is a lot of fun considering every career is viable even though some seem (and likely are) more powerful than others. Would love to see a video from you talking about some of the things the game doesn’t tell you, since there’s a lot to unpack in that department.

The tower where you fight Sienna's sister is quite difficult, but not bugged. The problem is that as you throw in barrels, the enemies that spawn in between skeleton phases get progressively harder and they send more specials as well. Lastly, when you have a barrel in your hands and are attempting to throw it in the well, there will be skulls flying around in the air that will ignite the barrel and push it away from the well. Your team can shoot these to move them away but they rarely do this so look out. Hope you beat the level, it's a very satisfying one to beat.
