I love "The Crown" and the real Crown, British Royal Family. But people have to remember, that "The Crown" is a dramatization. While based on some true events, it is still a tv show. It's entertainment, not a documentary.

I often think there should be a caption on each photo showing their origin because these photos are often used interchangeably; We readers should be able/allowed to understand how the writer is using the photos.

It's not a full fiction series it's a docufication which means a true story with fictional elements. Martin Bashir is in it so the panorama interview is getting recreated Diana car crash is being recreated the Queens response and stuff is being recreated.
I understand the desire for a disclaimer but we’re force fed all kinds of “this is a true story” narratives all the time. The crown doesn’t even make that claim. None of these projects contain a disclaimer and the days of bending over backwards for the royal family are long gone. Any actor/actress who portrays a well-known public person is stepping into a minefield. Any movie, made for TV series, or any other portrayal should start off with the disclaimer that the program is fiction and not intended to represent a factual presentation of the person(s) or the event(s). Especially, today when the line between fact and fiction has become so blurred. In my opinion, 'literary license' has in some instances run not just off the track, but over the cliff. I would think that the entity responsible for the production and release of the item would want to ensure that they have not left the door open for litigation or for the sullying of the actual person(s) character and reputation by excessive use of 'innuendo'.
As an American, I have watched the Crown. The show actually made me more compassionate towards Charles as well as those who serve in the Royal family. Although I know the dialog is not true, it brings a different perspective to the pressures of living this life. Also, gave me a perspective of honor and respect for the Crown itself.

There was no warm relationship with the Queen. The outing the Queen took her on was a disaster with M treating Her Magesty with assumed familiarity that repulsed the public. Rightfully so, it seems the Queen was anything but fond of her, but always civil. Both backtracking now to save their own guilty skins. And Charles was certainly not blameless in the destruction of his marriage. He married a beautiful young girl who was in love with him, who, in his own words, was naive, and on their honeymoon he made it clear that he would not give up Camilla. Diana became what she did, slowly but surely, because he was so callous. You have short memories.

In reality, she was quite the opposite----stalking men, married/divorced/single, calling their homes, sometimes over 100 times in one evening. She just "had to be loved" at all costs. I have enjoyed watching The Crown in the past, knowing of course that it was fictionalized . I tried watching season 5 episode 1 and didn’t enjoy it. In a strange way it felt like mockery. I was a young adult when these events were unfolding and I can’t seem to navigate that uncanny valley between the real people and the actors. To me it was lacklustre and I don’t think that I’ll continue watching.

I understand the desire for a disclaimer but we’re force fed all kinds of “this is a true story” narratives all the time. The crown doesn’t even make that claim. None of these projects contain a disclaimer and the days of bending over backwards for the royal family are long gone. Any actor/actress who portrays a well-known public person is stepping into a minefield. Any movie, made for TV series, or any other portrayal should start off with the disclaimer that the program is fiction and not intended to represent a factual presentation of the person(s) or the event(s). Especially, today when the line between fact and fiction has become so blurred. In my opinion, 'literary license' has in some instances run not just off the track, but over the cliff. I would think that the entity responsible for the production and release of the item would want to ensure that they have not left the door open for litigation or for the sullying of the actual person(s) character and reputation by excessive use of 'innuendo'.

As an American, I have watched the Crown. The show actually made me more compassionate towards Charles as well as those who serve in the Royal family. Although I know the dialog is not true, it brings a different perspective to the pressures of living this life. Also, gave me a perspective of honor and respect for the Crown itself.

This couple gives the content and information and then distances themselves from taking the blame. Not surprised. Their truth has many different recollections whenever they say it too. How many people have to lose their jobs for using what this couple has given them? They need to be held responsible for their actions. And the show The Crown needs to have a disclaimer on every episode that it's fiction. As it's giving a misconception of the monarchy and royal family.
There was no warm relationship with the Queen. The outing the Queen took her on was a disaster with M treating Her Magesty with assumed familiarity that repulsed the public.
She never really had a relationship at all with the Queen, even to being banned from a meeting QE11 had with Harry, told to "wait in another room". Rightfully so, it seems the Queen was anything but fond of her, but always civil.
Both backtracking now to save their own guilty skins.
And Charles was certainly not blameless in the destruction of his marriage. He married a beautiful young girl who was in love with him, who, in his own words, was naive, and on their honeymoon he made it clear that he would not give up Camilla. Diana was not a person that everyone the world wide over felt joy about. She was a real person of her own placed herself into a incredibly difficult life and situation. She became involved in truly needed focuses and made real headway to get things accomplished. Diana grew into being a woman with the true brains and ability to see thru things and get things done and accomplished. She was a trooper. She worked. She will be admired for herself and all she has worked to do as well.
Have no doubt, King Charles is going to intervene and the docu-series is going to disappear into the ether. It will never see the light of day.

Want the real scoop on Diana? Read Lady Colin Campbell's books on her. Diana was no saint. Markle has read those books carefully and is following the "Diana Playbook" over and over again. So transparent. Harry stopped his mental development at 12 when his mother died. He maintains Diana on a pedestal, to be talked about as if she were some chaste goddess. In reality, she was quite the opposite----stalking men, married/divorced/single, calling their homes, sometimes over 100 times in one evening. She just "had to be loved" at all costs. She saw her charity work as gaining her the love and admiration she craved. Like Markle, she had to be in front of the cameras at all times. Like Markle, she was mentally unhinged at times. Read the books and you'll learn a lot!

I have enjoyed watching The Crown in the past, knowing of course that it was fictionalized . I tried watching season 5 episode 1 and didn’t enjoy it. In a strange way it felt like mockery. I was a young adult when these events were unfolding and I can’t seem to navigate that uncanny valley between the real people and the actors. To me it was lacklustre and I don’t think that I’ll continue watching.
